900 can easily get already. lowyat, digital mall all have stock already.

901 has wifi-n, bigger chasis than 900, and heavier than 900. if mobility is important for you, then 900 is the best choice because the size is almost the same as 701.

Hello all,

I've had my black 900 for a weeek, delivered from Qwerty Online (nice ppl). Looking at what's happening with new Asus announcements, I got the right model for me.

5 mins after my colleague's little daughter started playing with it, he said he's getting one for her.

Some questions for the Linux-savvy:

[1] My unit does not have the antivirus mentioned in all the instructions....?

[2] I've downloaded Google Earth as bin file. How do I install it?

[3] Can a BT dongle be installed or any brand Linux ready?

for BT...can be a later addition to take up 1 of the 3 USB ports (i seriously don't use until all 3 so far...at most 2/3). i quite like the size of the Logitech VX Nano mouse punye connector. but i think that's like a proprietary wireless connection thing? cos doesn't seem to be any indication that it's a BT mouse. + i already have a BT mouse...

The Linux in the Eee is not like XP P&P, so can we just plug in the things you mentioned and they work? My Lantech BT, extra webcam, GPS, phones not recognized.

Thumb drives, SDs and external SATA all OK so far.

You have to change the mod of the bin file to execute else it won't run.
Antivirus is not needed on linux.
BT dongle can be installed, the driver should be natively supported by the linux kernel, you just have to turn it on.

Yes, Linux famous for less viruses. However, not 100% resistant apparently. The Eee manual is supposed to be for the Lx model and has an anti-virus icon in picture of menu, but my unit doesn't have the icon. Dunno what the story .....

After downloading bin and changing mod (how?), does it need to be moved to another directory?

"driver should..." means it is already in the kernel or must get one meant for linux and add to kernel?

How to turn on?

You sound patient and knowlegable -- can you explain how to do the above, step by step, pls, pleeez!

Hi friends,

I've got a 900 Linux. After a couple of Youtubes, almost everything freezes up and the SOS says No Swap Space. If I kill and restart the web it seems OK for a while.

Is there a setting to allocate more swap space to prevent this?

900 Linux owner here. Last week asked if anyone could tell me how to increase swap file size to avoid hanging after watching a few Youtubes. Still hoping for help.....
