apparently no more stock in penang

thats what asus distro (Build Tech) office in penang told me
that the 901 is not in anymore
the model is being replace by 904

herehere
you can refer alot of things

it a double whammy to learn than to pay
-you get to save the money

in penang Built Tech has informed every one that there are no more 901
will be 901 to replace it
call them my self and called gadget zone prai
all said the same thing...
904 replace 901, so have to wait for 904

to much curves
plus though the keyboard is normal-er size than eee pc
it sort of like a lady with very very big mouth/lips (bigger than angelina jolie one)

you got the wrong idea

u used the nlite in another workable computer to n-lite a copy of xp (either from disc or from the computer os it self)
with this copy of n-lited xp, you used it to install the os on to your eee pc
and because the n-lite process eliminated most un-used data/driver from the original xp disc, without disrupting the normal process
whats left is a smaller foot print on the ssd after finished installing the os.

the linux, according to eeepc forum
have tonnes of problem
wifi wont connect
fail updates
slow mouse response..

i fearthey are taking the SE(sony ericsson) way
after SE w900i came out
all the other phone after that is half-half here half-half there

walk man phone having crappy camera
camera phone have substandard media player/sound

now this also the same
900A is atom based but lack other stuff
904 have bigger space, keyboard but celeron based
want better spec go for 1000 series, but size a bit bigger (for my taste laa )

ya
900 would no have that problem

maybe because the 901 uses Ralink wifi
instead of Atheros chip

some people go as far in changing the wifi card to 3rd party Atheros chip card

well
even they are facing shortage

i think they will retain back chip for production of 1000 series rather than the 900 series

since the turn over rate is high for this kind of laptops

you can change by selecting the third button from left if its a 901
or go to task bar and select the "super hybrid something something"
or on the start>all programs>asus utilities>asus>super hybrid something something

used safari on my bigger lappie
good features

but lack one thing
anti phising scan

they say its could be dangerous surfing on secured sites.
now using opera 9.52

on another note, got some new add-on on my eee......


a 2GB kingmax sodimm ram (got it from GadgetZone prai)


elpida chipped, apparently...
run 256mb ram disk on it
no problem so far...

Got some preliminary results on the battery of 901

SD Card = 1.3W
mouse laser = 0.22W
WLAN = 1.9W
B-tooth = 1.0W at start the 0W when idle
Camera = 1.0W
max bright = 1.2W
power save to super perf = 1.1W

bareless minimum(everything off, minimal brightness)
= ~5.675W of no usage, idle

normal usage (wlan on, camera off, mid brightness)
= 6.452W~11.122W of usage, depend on usage

Designed capax = 55272 mWh
Full charge capax = 54877 mWh
Wear level = 1%

so technically at full charge at the bareless minimum of not using, idle
=> 54.877 / 5.675 = 9.67 hours !!!

for normal usage (max)
=> 54.877 / 11.122 = 4.93hrs .... normal i guess

the uttility i used is "notebook battery info"
