the main partition is about 3.72gb in size, with about 1.75gb free. Included with XP is java, windvd, adobe reader, yostore and a few other stuff. A nlite'd xp would be better imo.

i tested superpi on my eee901, i can say the time is more or less the same. In any case, Intel Atom uses a different architecture than your regular processor. iinm, atoms are generally slower at applications with require complex instructions(like calculating pi,integers, rendering) but yet manages to keep up on day-to-day applications like messenger, firefox, etc.

QUOTE(vyeo @ Jul 22 2008, 11:35 PM) Seems like quite a lot of people in LYN are Eee PC users. 1. works perfectly.Btw, my friend might want to get a Eee PC soon, and she has some questions: 1) How is the Eee PC 901 performance for the use of music, movie, and paper work (M$ Office)? Can it handles without any lag? 2) How long would the Eee PC 901 last for movie playback on a fully charged battery? 3) I read that the SSD in Eee PC 901 is divided into 4GB and 8GB. Is it means that it's something like a "fix-pre-partition" HDD? If yes, then does the 4GB is enough for OS installation and some software too maybe? 4) Lastly, i heard that we can use SDHC card to expand the storage capacity of Eee PC 901 like we normal use portable HDD on our comp? p/s: sorry for asking so many questions cos i m not so familiar with the Eee PC and tq very much in advance to those who read or answering the long questions above. 2. averagely about 4.5-6hours 3. It is divided into two as there are two SSDs in the eee (4gb soldered on + 8gb on ZIF connector) 4. you may get the SDHC class6 which is suitable for the eee. QUOTE(rayzrblade @ Jul 23 2008, 05:06 AM) i am choosing between 900 or 901.. I was wondering myself before I got the 901 as well. From what I've seen, the differences are as follows.what great difference do they have? my usage would be pure surfing only...in the end..still think bringing out my Vaio TX is a bit troublesome..and big.. what u guys think? which suits me better? the price is a great diff though..hehe. Battery - 900 uses 3cell 4400mah(some 5800mah). 901 uses 6cell 6600mah. Battery life - 900 will do 1.5hr - 2hr+. 901 can go up to 4.5hours+ Wifi - 900 comes with Wireless B/G. 901 comes with B/G/N Connectivity - 900 does not have bluetooth. 901 has bluetooth. Processor - 900 comes with Celeron ULV. 901 comes with Intel Atom. Heat - 900 is quite warm at the bottom. 901 is hardly warm in comparison Storage - 900 comes with 1.8" 30gb hdd. 901 comes with SSD 4gb + 8gb Extra Features - 901 comes with instant keys. QUOTE(vyeo @ Jul 23 2008, 08:34 AM) Kclee2002 misintepreted the earlier question. I am not sure how long the battery will last on continous movie playback. But for for wifi on, bluetooth on and surfing the net will give you that 4.5hr avg battery life.Wow... i never thought that eee pc 901 battery can use up to 4.5-6 hrs in movie playback. If like this, for a normal journey in express bus, i won't be getting bored or have nothing to do anymore (if i ever have one). As you said, one 4GB SSD is soldered on board and another 8GB is in ZIF slot, then means that in future we might have the option to upgrade the SSD capacity through the ZIF slot lor? If yes, then it's really cool. Now the more i look at this netbook, the more i like it. Btw, thx again for clearing my friend's doubts. This post has been edited by Kclee2002: Jul 23 2008, 09:31 AM |

QUOTE(michaeltan1943 @ Aug 21 2008, 11:05 PM) not when it cost nearly 600 more than the Aspire One. batteryThe price 1149 also belum bargain lagi. Who knows can even get RM1100? Asus thinks they are Sony, can price so high. wireless-N bluetooth multitouch pad dobly surround room 4+8gb ssd winxp home i believe that will be enough to offset the rm600 difference. of course you need to weigh the extra goodies that come with the eeepc. If you dont use them then AAO would be the clear choice of netbooks(taking out the above specs and putting it with the same spec level eeepc).
