QUOTE(ruffoundation @ Oct 12 2008, 08:39 AM) did anybody know how to fix my keyboard,, i cnt increase the light fn+f4 is not working...amg i cn slow down the sound.. it just muting it self..like f7 is the same as f8, must i reformat or is there something else i cn do thanx probably a hardware failure. go to asus royal club if you're still under warranty (who isnt? the eee series is pretty much started last year) and get it tested. mine was like that once. if it is indeed a hardware failure, they exchange for you on the spot! Upgrading RAM + the hard disk should be within your budget.

You can install vista, but this kind of laptops works best with xp.
and like any game and pc/laptop, you will need to compare the spec and game requirements.

SSD is better if you wants more battery power and shock resistant drive. HDD is if you wanted more storage.
In the ends its depends on your usage.

i finally got mine at a shop in Digital Mall, PJ. it was about 1.6k, and it took me weeks to search for it, since 901 is already a rare sights at that time. esp the white one. the windows would occupy most of the 4GB allocated for windows, but with a little tweaking, you can have SP3 and all .NET framework (which i cant live without, since most programs I used needs these) and still have 1GB+ left on C. Added on October 20, 2008, 7:33 pmQUOTE(jamezco @ Oct 20 2008, 07:28 PM) kewl ... which mamak can go online one ... free wifi ? or broadband usb? theres a few mamak stalls out there that provide wifi, but this one I used my phone as bluetooth modem and use Maxis 3G. I somehow disagree. SSD is faster (the boot-up between SSD and HD shows that), and saves more battery than HD. And its a lot less noisy than HD (no spinning disk).
And its not about dropping your laptop. Its about bumps you usually get when your bag (i assume you keep the eee in a bag) accidently hits other places such as your desk, lrt doors, or when you place your bag on the floor, sometimes you drop it too harshly etc. It may seem tiny bumps, but it would hurt the hard disk.
If you look at it, eee doesnt really cater for high end games. or video/graphic editing tools. Which was the ones with the largest space consumption for a pc really. 12 gig SSD should be more than enough for casual user.
Like I said. It depends on the user which one is the better choice. The HCSD and ext hard disk can be used for storage. And i have a full fledge system at home to cater for permanent storage of files.

QUOTE(Perfect-Stranger @ Oct 23 2008, 12:09 PM) For Eee Pc 1000H when you run Office 2007 on it, abit slow. For Eee Pc 900 ... you need long time to get it start... =) I'm using 901 and it works well. Using Office 2007 and Avira Anti virus.

QUOTE(Hico @ Oct 23 2008, 07:37 PM) i also feel avira quite sensitive..last time my pc kena virus, i tried avira and avg, avira keep poping out the virus warning, but avg seldom got the warning. .. i have bad experiences with avg. last time my pc got virus, so i installed avg. it runs, detect and removes the virus. then it asked to reboot and the pc never manages to get to windows back again. apparently avg removes infected system files too.
