Asus has this practice of giving diff battery capacities for diff shipments.

So your luck counts.

If I am not mistaken, it is still 6-cell but the rated total output is lower only. Sometimes these ratings are very confusing. For example 5600mAH does not mean it will output 5600mA in 1 hour. It could be 560mA in 10 hours or some other resultants. But anyway you should check your operating time. Most 901s can withstand 5+ hours of non-stop operation. 1000H should be somewhere there too. If you're getting 4 hours, you should go back to ASUS and complain since this can be a case of misrepresentation liao.

Welcome to the 1000H club.

I guess 1000H 80gb is a better buy, a hundred RM cheaper than we first bought it.

You should be having 6600 mah battery, right ?

Wonder why ASUS's netbook life expectancy is so short. Sell for awhile change model number and even sold out. The parts all so short in demand meh?

A new version of 901 is coming but do not know when.

If comes with 3.75g modem. It is a ssd i think 16 gb,not too sure.

The spec could change too.

Another development on the horizon :-

Toshiba Corporation today announced enhancements to its line-up of NAND-flash-based solid state drives (SSD) with the addition of an industry-leading 256-gigabyte (GB) SSD and the launch of a series of small-sized Flash Modules for netbook computers ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs) and other mobile and peripheral applications. The new drives will be showcased at the CEATEC in Makuhari, Japan, from September 30 to October 4.

I got the white one from http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/768938 (not sure have black or not)

I also think the 80Gb is best value for money now (cheaper + larger battery).

Im new to this community, and recently i just got myself the 1000H with kingston 2GB ram upgrade. Although the 160gb version have trade off its higher capacity 6600mAH lithium-ion, but the 5600mAH lithium-polymer battery is a warm welcome (better charge cycles + lighter). 4-5 hrs should not be much prob if proper settings are applied, In terms of the looks of the newer battery, i think is acceptable. But at stock without window update i notice graphic slow down in terms of video playback. So take note on this issue. Currently working on my project to make it a portable gaming machine (not graphic intensive one please), hehe^_^ so far, super nintendo, capcom arcade emulators are working pretty well, except for PS one games, i so used to OpenGL when using Epsxe to play wif GT2 or Capcom vs SNK in desktop PC, real slow down when using OpenGL here. But seems that in this machine u need to use D3D plugin to optimize speed and visual. And beware of display sets if anyone still in search of 1000H 80gb version. A Happy User for 1000H 160GB.

can buy next year or next next year when it is more affordable. After all , it is better to buy after the warranty period is over.

I believe in recycling ! I buy older gadgets at half the prices ( LCD, MODEMS , PDA AND HIFI ).

Although there is something called inflation, my money sometimes fetch a higher value .
