Haha, true also. Yeah respect u cos take the risk to do that. Mthoto in EEE forum killed his 901 after doing touch screen mod but lucky your 901 survived smile.gif
I think 901 will be too slow for Vista. The 4GB SSD will be not enough even for nlited install.

Not really - if you see my post a couple pages back i posted links of ppl successfully installing vista on their wind and 901/1000 - and apparently its fast too.

the main thing to remember is to vlite the vista. Going to do that once my 901 is here rclxms.gif icon_idea.gif rclxm9.gif

ff1.5 & ff3.0 & IE

which one nicer to use ha?
me still using IE.

actually, there's a gajillion web browsers out there. all to suit everybody.

Mozilla Firefox is the hero of open source. In defense, 3.0 is quite snappy on my 701. i have like 10 different plugins that makes my life much much easier. 1.5 is obsolete, but to some his own.

IE is..well, is the reason that firefox/mozilla existed in the first place. its a well-known design, but it does not really follow standards but in IE7 they are trying hard to.

Opera is another alternative to firefox and IE, full of customisation and all, but i feel opera has a very cluttered look - but then that is me.

Maxthon is a good alternative to vanilla IE or firefox. using the IE engine but with firefox-like usability. I last used it when it was the avant browser. dont know how it is now la.

and more out there. I would suggest one to download them, then test. The best advice i can give to anybody - test to suite yourself. Don't use anything because just everyone uses it tongue.gif

p.s. v2 passed 1337 posts adee thumbup.gif

well, for what you are paying, you cant really expect much la.

a small, powerfull laptop for only 1699? 5 years ago, a nokia handphone is much more pricer than that! biggrin.gif

anyhow, still waiting for my 901 to arrive. maybe i'll vlite a vista in the weekend. for those who are running vista, did you slipstream SP1 with it?

the aspire one has some difference with the 901

1. it has only 8GBs of space. 901 has 12. (and they are slow SSDs to boot)
2. AAO is running linux, 901 is windows (not sure when the 901 linux 20GB is coming to malaysia tho)
3. 3 cell battery = 3 hours a bit. 901 6 cells = 6 hours a bit with wifi on and 30% screen brightness
+ the stuff that kclee posted thumbup.gif

but then, AAO has a nice keyboard to use than the 901, and the finishing is much more sexier than the 901.

in the end, its up to the person who wants to buy.

(btw jkkmobile posted the AAO with the 6 cell batteries. ugly little bugger)

I am not sure about the 904HD series being a replacement for the 901.

i mean, different users has different needs right?

the 901 is perfect for those who wants something as small as the 701, but not too big that they need the 1000H

the 1000HD is for those who wants something smaller than a 12" notebook yet do not want something as small as the 901.

The 904HD is something asus think is going for those who wants it in between - hard disk, keyboard and space of 1000H but the screen and thus battery life of the 901.

but then, Asus is coming out with a no-less than 23 variants of the Eee pc so anything is possible.....

on the contra
in penang Built Tech has informed every one that there are no more 901
will be 901 to replace it
call them my self and called gadget zone prai
all said the same thing...
904 replace 901, so have to wait for 904
I bet the shops are saying that because they ran out of stock because, if the 904 is SERIOUSLY replacing the 901, then its like a backwards step seeing that the 904 is using the same celeron that they are using on the original 701.

IF they say the 900A is replacing the 901 maybe i will believe, but even then i wont get it (smaller battery, crappier camera, no BT etc etc)

i did say earlier that Asus is planning 23 more models under the eee line, so the chance that a 901 replacement is coming soon.

But 904HD as a 901 replacement?
No.

vixxiee, emino. You want the bag?

i ordered through shady the bag, paid but then realised that it wont fit my 1000H. So i ordered a bigger bag, which comes to my question - anyone wants the bag? selling it cheaper than the retail price.
