and to pm monkey...

well, mostly parts are refurbish. and the pain and misery of repairing the laptop and then opening up again. If it happen for the second time again, I ll suggest you to get a replacement unit from dell. or get a refund if u want too.
*
Laptop is back and working fine.
They replaced the mobo.

The technician came with so many spare parts, just incase the main problem isn't the mobo, he told me.

I'm sticking with dell for their quick service. I know my friend had a terrible time getting her hp laptop to service. She had to send it back and it was a long wait.

Lester,

Where did you get the WWAN card? Price? Brand?

If it's cheap and good, this should be good news for all XPS users who have the sim slot.

Thanks for the info lester.
Too bad I can't get my hands on one.

Perhaps WWAN cards will be made available in Malaysia in the near future since the price is close to those USB modem.

grrr... got minor prob here. when watching my dvd dragon ball, mostly got horizontal line with dot at right. I dunno y.

That seems like the symptoms of my lappie before it died. Time to call up and complain.
They'll probably give you a mobo replacement since the graphics is integrated.

IMPORTANT NOTE/INFO !

For mobo replacement,

request for this new model - D057P Revision00 ( currently using this....no whine, no noise, no problem at all so far! ) RECOMMENDED !

previous mobo model - PU073 Revision00 - 04 batch ( known for the whine and other issue )

hope you guys find this useful. cheers!

Mine is D057F Rev00.
Btw, what whine sound do you mean cos so far other than the DVD and sometimes loud fan, I've experience no other sounds.

I suffer the same "luck".
I didn't care to reformat or anything.

It only happens in WMP though. No problem in winamp or any other player.

I'm not sure about the part where you mentioned the 8400 works ok. IMHO, most of the problems with our lappies are due to the graphics itself. Like how you get odd-colored pixels, vertical/horizontal lines, blank screen etc etc.

They replaced the whole mobo just because graphics is integrated on the mobo itself.

You have to get the WWAN card first. WWAN card will sit next to your WLAN card, then only you'll be able to use the sim slot.

6months? Mine took only 3 months before it decided to die. Luckily that was after all the crazy assignments load and exam.

Updated to A11 bios, lets see how well it'll perform.

Make a complain... get a replacement if you're experiencing problems now.

To disable,
Go to Control Panel > system > device manager, under the display adapters, disable it.

Ok guys... my laptop has new symptoms.

1. I updated to the A11 bios, then Dell Media Direct kept popping up after I closed it. So I uninstalled the damn thing.
2. Because I always use my laptop for long, I'll plug in the adapter and remove the battery.
The problem now is, after shut down, the laptop will automatically restart itself. Even if I put it to hibernate, it'll still wake itself a few seconds after it turned off.

Anyone experienced this before? Time for the 3rd service, I guess.

3rd service coming on Tuesday. They're coming to replace my mobo for the 3rd time, but it's not the graphics problem.

Mentioned before that my laptop will automatically restart after shut down/hibernate. sweat.gif

you're not the only one with the sticker problem. Haha.. I'm having that problem as well.. good thing is i always push it back once it's loose.

Recently my gc hanging a lot already. I think I'm facing the overheating problem... sigh.. luckily my warranty is 3 years complete cover. I pray by the 3rd year they'll run out of T7250 and have to replace with a faster processor. LOL... (not likely though.. i'm bloody sure they'll keep old stock)
*
LOL, the processor is not integrated, only the graphics. Don't have to pray.

I can get ~18 celcius reduction during peak usage... last time b4 mod temp can reach ~105 celcius!!! then i terminate fast fast... now max is ~87 celcius nia.

the problem is actually not fully nvidia fault... it's the thermal pad that cause this heat transfer inefficiency. After this copper mod, my cpu and gpu temp is actually correlated, tat shows that the heat transfer is good...  icon_idea.gif
*
It's actually both. First it's nvidia's bad chip. Then add in the lousy over-thick thermal pad, kills the gpu faster.

Anyways bro tamade, what is the thickness of the copper sheet you used?
