lolz why limit the HT Link to 1000MHz?  laugh.gif
No point to buy am2+ proc and mobo in this way
Don't blindly apply am2 oc method to am2+ oc
Observe and think before you apply, oc wise  wink.gif

yes.. as Tony from XtremeSystem Quotes

QUOTE
K10 has thrown a spanner in our K8 overclocking world...they are NOT the same!

To clock K10 HTT upwards you have to do the following.

1 Find the max NB core clock the CPU will run (this is the CPU NB)

2 Find the max core speed the CPU will run.

3 Set HT to be same or under CPU NB core clock speed.

If HT is higher than CPU NB clock the board will hang, if CPU NB core clock is to high the board will hang.

K10 was not designed to run massive HTT speeds, it was designed to be super efficient at lower HTT but with high CPU NB clock speed....so we all need the 9600BE (Black Edition) as this will have an unlocked CPU multi...so no need to push massive HTT, although upto 300 would be nice
plus, K10 has totally independent clock control over CPU-NB and CPU core. In the DFI bios you will see the following under CPU features.

CPU DID
CPU FID

CPU DID = multiplier divider
CPU FID = actual multi in HEX

I mapped some common values out for CPU muti.
HEX Multi
00 = 08
01 = 08.5
02 = 09
03 = 09.5
04 = 10
05 = 10.5
06 = 11
07 = 11.5
08 = 12
09 = 12.5
0A = 13
0B = 13.5
0C = 14 ETC

Now we have a CPU DID also, this can be 1,2,4,8,16

things get good from 11 onwards using the 2 4 8 or 16 dividers and ODD ratio's

setting 06 FID and 2 DID will give 5.5, setting 01 FID and DID2 will give 8.25 so yes you can have quarter multipliers also.

Remember DID1 will give FID/1=FID with no adjustment...2 4 8 16 give the special ratio's

Moving to NB FID and DID

NB DID is either 1 or 2

Hex NB Multi
00 = 4
01 = 5
02 = 6
03 = 7
04 = 8
05 = 9
06 = 10
07 = 11
08 = 12
09 = 13
0A = 14
0B = 15
0C = 16
0D = 17 ETC

Again we can DID or divide by 1 or 2...so 07HEX with DID2 will give 5.5 for the NB Multi

So how does this translate, well remember HTT is 200 by default so 01HEX=5X
5X200HTT=1000MHZ
02HEX=6X so 6x200 for 1.2GHZ etc

CPU NB and Link Multipliers are unlocked on ALL CPU's, there are rules though.

HT link speed can NOT exceed NB clock speed, but HT link can be lower than NB core clock.

NB Clock is what decreases L3 cache latency and so improves performance.

Overall HTT speed is dependent on many things, NB core clock, HT link and CPU multi, different configs give differing results..we just need to reasrch the best for now.

i think these refer to those who uses DFI UT 790FX.. seems that the BIOS is quite.... difficult....

i was actually skipping #1 in Tony list..as i still can't understand what he's telling..
*
i think wat he means is by setting up the DID and FID combination will make out the multiplier for the proc... i think la...
i onli have the mobo... if onli i can get the proc maybe i can figure out the actual function of the DID and FID....
even the NB also need to set up by combination... haiz...
ohh.. math... i hate math...

for example..

CPU FID HEX 08 = 12
CPU DID 01 = 1 so NO change to CPU FID as 12/1=12

CPU core speed 250HTT x 12 for 3000MHZ

its quite simple actually if u read it over....and over... and over.... and over again...
and i sacrifice my sleep for this...

the #1 step is Find the max NB core clock the CPU will run (this is the CPU NB)

i think he's talking about the HTT link or something like that...
try to look at the pic that he posted in the XS tread...

hmm.. current best batch for X4 9850 BE JAAFB AA 0810 BPMW @ 3.12ghz @ 1.32v on AIR.. nice...

Habuk, try cooling your PWMs. They get quite hot on the M2RS.

Hopefully this allows you to push extra vCore and HTT to 3G. wink.gif

Even if it doesn't OC better, cool PWMs are safer and make a board last longer.
*
hmmm... ohh.. Mr_Habuk is using DK... if UT.. can use the cool transpiper...

QUOTE(digswell @ May 1 2008, 03:19 PM)
ahaha ..he still newbie in ocing ....blur blur with bios option.
come and teach him
*
not many people using DFI mobo here... so it kinda hard to teach him...
im using the UT but no phenom in hand, so i cannot teach him also...

QUOTE(X.E.D @ May 1 2008, 03:38 PM)
Aiyo... rookies shouldn't really start with a DFI board. laugh.gif It's quite frustrating if something turns out wrong.

I wouldn't really want to touch one until I'm pretty good with SPD, P-states, MSR and stuff. tongue.gif
*
simple tweak also can.. but from my experience la (Back then when im using CFX3200) to get a very very very stable clock, u need to learn many things...
the bios quite complicated...

ya lorr..simple tweaking enough lor..but summore using DFI mobo make u learn fast..laugh.gif u may not see some advance feature in other mobo..

BTW..Its not that i don't want to stress it yet..it just i'm still confused bout the buggy thing in 3dmark06..
but today i kind of getting it.. rclxms.gif

*
juz ignore the buggy 3dmark...
even my E6600 when OC to 3.4ghz my system information detect 3.8 and even in orthos detect 3.8ghz... sweat.gif

i tried OCing using AMD Overdrive... and i think its better for me to OC using bios which is to me more senang.... using AMD Overdrive i can't even go to 3.0.. haiz...

How high the temperature can be considered safe? It reaches 60C in my bloody hot 32C room

wah... 1.3v @ 60C aa?? my x2 onli @ 1.48v can reach 60c... wat cooler r u using??

but i think the BIOS is the same as urs la mr_habuk.. onli the PCB layouts are different... UT got the coooooooool transpiper onli... can cabut then pasang at ur mobo also.. ehehe...

and bro, wanna ask about ur chipset temp?? is it ok?? mine ysterday the chipset temp went to 50c ++.. the lowest i get is 43c...
dang ipoh is really2 hot... even with 2 table fan directing air to my mobo, the ambient temp is still hot...

u want silent fan at a cheap price??
take a look at uglyvamp's stock clearance sale
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/649056

look at the bottom of 2nd post...
NMB 120mm x 25mm 0.32amp - Rm16
- 3pin cable with rpm sensor
- airflow is plenty, with a slight sacrifice for silence, imo
- estimated 34dB, 80cfm, 2100 +/- 10%
- 4710NL-04W-B39

the airflow shud be good enuff.. @ a very cheap price...
