Can anyone advice me on this?

Should i opt for the plastic mesh or coated steel wire mesh for my cage?

Will they be able to bite the plastic mesh and escape?

Which better? smile.gif

Coated steel mesh? As in coated with plastic/non-toxic paint? If yes, that would be a good choice in terms durability. But it will rust with time, especially when the protecting coat breaks.

Plastic mesh is more hygienic and safe. Doubt the glider will be persistent enough to bite through it. Try the thicker gauge type for safe measure.

Practise makes perfect..

After a week of cutting, drilling, grinding and welding steel, i have gained satisfaction with the progress of building my own glider cage.

Sounds good! Looking forward to a nice picpost once the project is concluded. Have you decided on the colour yet silverwineus?

rafiqos,
When i weld a straight line, i move my hand in this motion"///////////" insted of "----------" so that two seperate pieces can be attached together better and the weld spread out more evenly. Try this!

That hand movement makes the weld beads turn out neat. I've tried that before!! Ecstasy! Like painting butter on bread...sounds not so right. dry.gif

Sadly I don't have my own welding/cutting equipment. I've always wanted to DIY a nice cage for my skink. A decently good arc welding and cutter set will be a dream birthday present..

Epoxy is a very good choice. Will add that dampening soft feel to the steel parts so it won't be so harsh on the suggies. It's also good when trying to fight rust, especially where water is a constant problem.
