QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 12 2008, 12:37 AM) I'm getting it there pun kirim from the set of crew who are nightstopping there. My buddy is paying using his own credit card, so I'm a little hesitant to further burden him with another unit. I dont mind buying it for you, as long as it is me who is buying it, not another proxy. Too many cooks in the kitchen spoils the dish, they say. it is unlocked. got confirmation from my operations manager juz now (he snagged one for his wife) and he said the phone is running fine with his south african simcard. but only for voice and txt, no data because vodafone disabled the APN for non-Vodafone contract sim. Even prepay Vodafone sim pon kenot use the data. kedekut giler. boleh2 nak suruh orang sign up on their crazy priced plans.EDIt:Dont know if the iPhone out of contract = unlocked for other networks. Will clarify later. |

You're not with Vodafone, are you? I'm getting my buddy to the Citylife Hotel Vodafone to get the iPhone 3G 16GB. Would be a relief of my worried little head if you're there, so you can help him out on the purchase. He's not that well-verse in the crazy plans and contracts and pre-conditions of getting an iPhone 3G. He should be arriving tomorrow at noon, but I'm sure he's taking his rest first before either buying it later that evening or the day after that. Can you of any way help? I'm just worried that he couldnt secure me a unit. |

QUOTE(mangoman @ Jul 11 2008, 10:31 PM) First batch here means early bird iPhone 3G units to be finish and the stocks be replenish. Sometimes first batch units have problem, just like previous first batch iPod touch that has display problems so Apple fixed it with better quality screen on second batch units. That kind of thing, not 12 months. |

The whole idea of activating the phone in stores at the point of purchase has proved to be a bad idea, lots of stores having server down and Apple's server is overloaded. Some customers have been told to go home with the phone unactivated. Looks like we need to hold off firmware 2.0 for a couple of days more.

Of coz I know AUD and NZ currency r not the same, in fact AUD is very strong now, the strongest in 24 years. What i meant is the price of plan in NZ is so much more expensive than Aus. |

Of coz I know AUD and NZ currency r not the same, in fact AUD is very strong now, the strongest in 24 years. What i meant is the price of plan in NZ is so much more expensive than Aus. Does a phone plan matter in this case? You are getting outright no-contract phone, so the point is moot. The most relevant issue here is what is total amount to pay that people like me and most of others here in this forum, who have ZERO intention whatsoever in getting onto a plan, and only interested to get the iPhone only.Who gives a *bleep* how much Vodafone or *insert company* charge you on a plan, I just want the iPhone to use back home. You yourself only cared about getting out of Optus's own plan by adding that AUD80 into the final figure on the first page, and I quote:- QUOTE(mangoman @ Jul 3 2008, 12:34 PM) http://www.optusiphone.com.au/getdoc/fe459...id-pricing.aspx So what's all the sudden big deal about "price of plan in NZ is so much more expensive than Aus"? 8GB iPhone 3G (Black)= $729 16GB iPhone 3G (Black or White)= $849 This is a prepaid plan for optus but you have to pay additional $80 dollar to unlock it within 6months of purchase or recharge 80 dollar of credit. So the total price including unlock fee, 8GB iPhone 3G (Black)= $809 16GB iPhone 3G (Black or White)= $929 DO the math and for getting the iPhone OUT of a plan, with no contract, like i posted before, it is much cheaper to get it from Vodafone NZ than Optus AU, NZD1129 VERSUS AUD929. Not all big numbers translate to "being more expensive", with the Malaysian Ringgit being much more competitive against NZD than AUD. Next time, please bring more relevancy to the table rather than simply adding "price of plan in NZ is so much more expensive than Aus". Most if not all of us here are not interested on getting shacked by a contract plan OR using the iPhone at the place of purchase on that contracted telco, we're only interested on getting the iPhone as cheap as possible OUTSIDE a contract.
