kenari/kelisa mechanical parts are interchangeable.

rim offset of +35 to +38 iirc.
best shock/spring combo - tanabe GF210 with GAB SA both comfort AND performance

bushings will have to be looked at, definitely, then you can probably add stabilizer bars and camber up front for that tight grippy feeling laugh.gif

the stock 14" rims and vios rims are crap - soft.
but i love the stock rim design though tongue.gif

would reccommend you taiwan rims which are lighter, wider and are about the same price as second hand rims.

GAB SA when i bought it was RM700 + installation

It would be great to have a picture of the bare knuckle with the hub only(discs and caliper removed) so that I can see if it can be adapted onto the Kancil instead of drilling the stock knuckles.

hi there.

I've just recently gotten a used, dead stock Kenari auto, yr 2000, as a daily drive.

after driving for a few days...i realized that it's kinda wobble during cornering, and seems that there are alot to change....bushings, etc etc...

there're too many pages here...so I'd like to ask, as a Kenari user...

1) If I were to upgrade rims...what offset to look for?
2) are kenari springs interchangeable with the kelisa's?
3) any other recommendations to get the kenari to a nicer ride feel and increased safety...
4) any difference between the L9 turbo calipers/rotors and the stock?

thanks in advance
*
1) Went to see the "steel" rims ady or not? laugh.gif Buzz me la when you come over.
2) Kenari springs should be interchangable with the Kelisa, in fact, even MyVI and Kancil springs can be used! They are all of the same mounting dimensions(the rear probably u need to change the rubber bushings that hold them springs in place), just different spring rates.
4) Difference between the L9 turbo calipers and stock is between ventilated(L7/L9) and non-ventilated(stock) rotors, also maybe different pad surface area, piston size should be more or less the same. I wouldn't actually recommend the L7/L9 stuff, pads are freaking expensive! We are talking about RM150-200 range here even for the normal Bendix GeneralCT, I found out about this the "hard" way when i swapped in these Japanese brake set into my Kancil, asked around and it seemed the L2/L5/L7/L9 pads are all costing nearly twice as much as the normal pricing for even the same make and model of brake pad. A good upgrade would be the MyVI brake set, considerably plug and play the last I checked, don't even need new brackets machined out. Only thing you need to worry is probably finding a used set without warped rotors.

And i'm still on my quest to look for a used Kenari myself laugh.gif I want the early model but kinda thinking should I get the later model just for the rear seatbelts.

O.o what happened to your GSR?
anyways, apaprently kancils are able to use kenari discs, as long as your wheels are larger, 12" wheels cant fit. sorry if i do not have the pic as i upgraded my brakes after leaving them at my tyre shop (gotta work mah) but iirc you have to mount an adapter plate. don't know whether the driveshaft is able to fit or not though.
looking for kenari brakes?
im selling mine off, with ferodo zero pads, damn cun condition brows.gif no problems with it, just that i need a big brake kit biggrin.gif
too bad the current myvi setup sucks - vibrating like mad, i need to pinpoint the problem before i let you guys know sad.gif

Added on December 1, 2008, 1:17 amoh yeah since you mentioned myvi is plug and play, kenari should be too.

i used to own a fully stock kenari with manual transmission, the first edition twin cam something with original tea color, brown or something; i first got it when i was 17, pff in fact it's my first car back in 2002

under no modification and so on, it originally have a nice pickup, a little downside at the torque, fairly slow at topspeed(120km and it will start shaking) stability is fair but you dont get to see a lot of kenaris fall to the side or upsidedown like a kelisa.

firm bodyframe, surprisingly saved me twice in a car crash (the other car's front of side are totally smash(her car door is "kaput" with me having little damage at the bumper or the lights).

downside at the brakes, the stock brakes are not exactly good(i experimented full braking at 120km in the rain) and afterthat the brakes became a little faulty and require changes, the car DOESN'T Swing,
the Handling is nice, with stock higher body profiles means less damage to the bottom of the car, prolly but mostly no serious damage.

perfect for small distance driving like in small town or so,
not perfect for long distance driving to be honest, i droved like from places to places to some other rural places so yeah still it's perfect for small places driving.. srsly... PERFECT if you love to go hiking or fishing pffff gotto love it srsly. with higher profile of the car you might have some trouble getting on the ferries but you wont have problems crossing the country roads like yanno those rocks road or sand roads. Yes you will love to go to the beachs with a Kenari especially you have 6 friends in the car with two or one of them sitting behind there. It's FUN but best not to have kids standing in between the two front seats

my nephew got "black green" on the forehead coz there's NO Soft place between the two front seat so if you accidentally brake because the driver in front of you is being a d*** and your nephew is playing/standing between the two front seats ... so yeah

The tire changing is quite easy, the car is user-friendly.

Since i'm having so much good experience with it in the Stock setup,
guess how I feel like when i have all the kit put on.

p.s. remember about the part that i full brake on 120km during the rain(at the point when the car started to be a little shakey, either the stability is fair or the road is too awesome with patches as tattoos?)? A friend was sitting at the back seat, he Bought that Kenari from me.

[edit] i forgot to say that i saw a kenari crashed into a divider, the two rear wheels actually pop out from the body frame, yes with the shaft between it... surprisingly the bodyframe are still intact O: like.... yanno just the rear wheel and bumper damage nia, the rest just stayed nice.

uiks....pasang already???

vibrating...most likely warping la.

oh n i checked out the VTTR on saturday at RSOne. no myvi rotors yet... expected to arrive after CNY.

also, theyre most likely not plug n play...dude said will come with the rotors as well... so im guess its definitely a BBK for Myvis. not sure if itll be PnP in our cars or not.

only thing left would be to check the SPS and Maxtech rotors... i know where to check for SPS... Maxtech no idea doh.gif

maybe warped or pad judder.
since its BBK for myvis it will not be PnP as you'll need the adapter plate.

SPS rotors are crossdrilled, ill be wary of crossdrilled rotors, you'll find hairline cracks after a couple of months.
Real crossdrilled are not drilled, they are forged that way with holes in them.

yeah i know....but dont have much of a choice honestly...

would really like the Brembo MAX but they dont make for Myvi sad.gif only Brembo AM available through zth forums afaik

the Maxtech supposedly is quite good according to 1 K2OC feller whos using it for the past 6 months. but i cant find jack on them online. not even a pic.

the SPS will be going on saturday to check it out up close.....

but if all oso unattractive to me then i guess ill just have to go for the D-Sport rotors for RM380 PER PIECE moneyflies.gif theyre gold in color and looks pretty sexy to me laugh.gif

Added on December 1, 2008, 12:47 pmoh yeah...wat pads u using for the Myvi rotors?

d-sport overpriced man, no better than stock rotors. wait. if they are for the passo, then ok, but for kenari, they suck.

im using the stock pads for the myvi brakes, gonnachange them to bendix soon, my fav pads as they might be the cause for the judder. currenlty now, immediate bite not there, but as you depress the pedal, it feels much more progressive.

iirc viva rotors same diameter as kenari, just that they are ventilated but the surface area is thinner as overall rotor width is the same sweat.gif
