Yoo guys, does most of you here changed from RON97 to RON95? Any performance drop? Lesser mileage ? Louder engine noise? Pls share your experiences with the new fuel..thanks.

Mine, I realized the mileage dropped around 5% and my birdy's engine noise much louder than before...sigh...thanks to our G....

U running on highway without aircon n with 12" rims?
*
lol, I was driving it to work and back. So, would say around 60% City, 40% highway. Air con is on like 40% of the time only. During highway driving, I was told that if I leave the window down w/o aircon, it actually resulted in more drag. So usually I on the aircon during highway drive.
But I think the part that contribute to my good FC is my "golden right foot" icon_rolleyes.gif Coz my speed average at 60km/h only during city drive. sweat.gif

p/s: My kenari is 100% stock. Oh, Manual Transmission by the way.

you sure average speed 60km/h in city? O.o i drive fast (think 120km on jalan sultan ismail when all traffic lights are green) and only get 50km/h average when calculated from LDP -> Sprint -> golden triangle.

Yeah, I always monitor my speedometer and usually don't exceed 70km. The small town in East Malaysia I'm living in dont have so many traffic lights and jams like you guys have in KL mah....that's why can maintain 60km/h. If I wanna be mad, then I can reach 80~100 no problemo. Just that everytime I exceed 70km my conscience will tell me "Hey man, you're wasting your petrol doh.gif " then my golden right foot will be lightened blush.gif

Wanna to know something bout kenari,

1. Does kenari have engine or gearbox prob?  Or any other common problem?
Hardly hear any engine problem, gearbox wise....when I first got the car, it was a bit hard for me to engage into 1st gear, but after awhile it's ok. I supposed there was rough edges since I got a brand new one. Since you're planing on getting a second hand one, I believe that wont be a issue at all. Regarding other common problems, I think the forum on motor trader is a good guide. One of the infamous problem of kenari would be the wing noise. I think that problem can be countered by installing the oem visor (or any other relevant visor). I hardly troubled by the wing noise even when I reached 100km/h as it has been troubled some other kenari drivers.

Here's the link on motor trader forum :http://www.motortrader.com.my/asp/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9570

3. FC if compare with kelisa? Any different btw kelisa n kenari for d engine?
Kelisa and Kenari engine are the same. Since Kenari curb weight is heavier than kelisa, by theory it's fuel consumption should be slightly higher. But then again, you'll get a lot more head room compared to kelisa. As regards my birdy, the FC is as good (if not better than) as any kelisa out there. Best result so far is RM10 - 115++KM. Even on average, I can reach 105-108 km with RM10. (RM1.8/L)

Planning to get one 2nd hand kenari.  So far i found few 2nd hand Kenari(still finding),

01' Auto New Spray+SportRims+Leather Seat = RM21k
02 Manual = RM22k
03 Manual Aerosport = RM23k

Those price is reasonable or too ex/cheap?  I prefer to drive manual car.
I'd recommend you to go for the aerosport manual. The price is reasonable I think, but that has to depend on the mileage as well as other factors. Anyway, all the best for choosing your car. Hope you'll join our rank as a kenarianz soon. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Loseeker, your kenari FC is incredible, and not many ppl can get such FC like u do. I would be happy enough if i can do 90km with RM 10. It's already so much cheaper on fuel if compared to other cars. Haha
*
Ahsam1212, thanks for the compliment. Actually, I was quite amazed myself. By the way, I just filled up the petrol again last night with the trip counter clocked at 549.1KM and the fill up cost me RM52.50. So approximately 105KM for every RM10. I supposed the good FC due to the smooth traffic condition in this small town of East Malaysia I'm living in. I seriously doubt that I can achieve this kind of FC if I'm living in KL or any part of West Malaysia with heavy traffic Jam daily. sweat.gif

erm... i live in city..
around 1 full tank is rm50 plus as usual every kenari was..
if in full tank i can drive around 490 to 510km
is around there... lol

of course the above statement is when i drive normal around 50 to 60km/h

as in i press more  on fuel.. and driving around 100km/h
Woh, no wonder I can reach 530km on average with my kenari since I always cruise around 50-60km/h. Never realized the difference in speed could affect the FC so much. Thanks for the info. rclxms.gif

Oh, forgot to put, its manual. About FC, i dono how to find/calculate it, can teach? LOL. Its my 1st car in my life, that's why i know less bout it.

Well, I think the technique most people employ would be fill up your car till full, reset the trip counter by pressing the button (where the green circle is). You run your car till the tank is almost empty, then go fill up your tank again. Write down the KM you've covered (shown at the indicator which the green arrow is pointing) and divide that by the amount you paid of the second fill up. Understood ? sweat.gif

I know there's an existing thread discussing about different brand of ROn95 Fuel....but I"m still curious as to which Brand all you sifu using for our birdy? I've been loyally supporting SHELL since the day 1 I got my car till now...but seems like petronas is doing better than SHELL in term of RON95, is that the case ?

p/s: Here in East Malaysia, we only have the option of SHELL or PETRONAS, Esso, BHP, caltex are not available..

Added on November 22, 2009, 8:34 pmMy Aerosport Stock Sport Rim Cap flied away twice, first time i bought the Cap was RM18 at spare part shop, second time RM35 at another shop cause first shop out of stock. Now third time my Cap left me lol, any idea where to get the cheapest Cap replacement? and then how many times ur this Cap fly away? or stolen?  doh.gif
*
My friend's wife told me their kenari stock rim cap always flew away too. They replaced it a few times around the price you quoted. But after a few times, they didn't bother but removed the rim cap from the rest of the wheel. As a matter of fact, I saw many older kenari owner did the same thing. So, if I were you, I'd do the same thing to save myself trouble and money for replacing the cap. But then, that's just me sweat.gif
