As titled. Got a group of friends that love to bash both teams music genre, A like screamo music and B like metal music. Obviously I'm on the A team, but I do listen to metal music sometimes as to gain knowledge on how they sound like but not that often until to the point that I need to listen to it everyday.

Team B were talking about how crappy and gay about the screamo bands high pitch vocals(some said like a girl singing) and screaming compare to their devilish metal vocals and screaming. AFAIK, all kinds of screaming methods are mainly from the vocal diaphragm box which needs you to tension it. It's just the matter of how you wanna sing it out. Btw, screamo music is also a mixture of metal and punk rock music... but not that heavy like those true metal band.

So any good tips and advice to stop this mellow problem?

I was telling them, everyone has their own taste and you can expect everyone listening to only one genre of music. They ended up talking like they're music genre is the king of all.

You know that is going to cause more bashing tongue.gif

For those who bash genres... they are just missing out an opportunity to experience more good music.
Strictly speaking, which band conforms zealously to a single genre nowadays? We see rock bands trying out different kinds of genres - screaming vocals, acoustic songs, slow ballads, energetic tunes etc. Pop singers sing R&B all the time, and incorporate rock music elements into their songs too.

As long as the music is good, who cares about genres? Ska, Punk, Pop punk, Power pop, emo, screamo, alternative, indie bla bla... there's no clear cut definition anyway.

Let them be, if you're more towards neutral side then be that way. That is why there is more music genre than you can poke a stick at in this world, because difference in taste, preferences, experiences etc.

I don't like certain genre too, but I don't like to bash them. If whatever you going to say is flamebait, then better not to say it. Silence is golden
