^ answers in bold, green.

it's more like after the dividend, hope that the price goes up...then the dividend makes sense
this is not the case with bonus right?

ex-date means expire date?

As a general rule, only companies with sufficient revenue AND/OR capital reserves can make a bonus issue. But,capital reserves are surplus arising from revaluation of properties and not unappropriated profits derived from normal operation.

While it is quite safe to assume that only profitable companies can make bonus issue, one should also ensure that the bonus issue is not declared  mainly from capital reserve as this will not truly reflect the profitability level.
*
but how would we know the management of the company is not doing that? (the bonus is derived from capital reserve)
is there a way to know?

Not exactly 2 cents for all, if one needs to pay 26% tax (this varies accroding to individual tax bracket), then it is 2 cents +  30cents x 0.26 = 9.8 cents.
*
then what's the point of buying this share? i mean if we buy say at 90.2sen, it's like buying for free right.....same as buying and selling at the same price right?
same goes when we buy a share for rm10 and sell it off at rm10....no gain and no lose (not taking commision into consideration)

or am i missing something here smile.gif

No, a bit different

There are 2 scenerio that potential happen

Scenario 1
One buys at 0.902 and get back 0.902, but eventually company delisted, then net gain zero as you described.

Scenario 2.
one buys at 0.902 and get back 0.902, but still you have Tamco shares, so if business being injected into the company and company stay afloat (listing), then whatever share price of Tamco afterwards then it is you rnet gain.

If capital repayment materialise then at 0.902, it is cost free either you breakeven or gain only. Not a good situation meh?
*
okie dokie...now i get the clear picture
that's very explanative
now need to pray that they start a new business or something hehe
thanks sifu

If oil price rise to USD150 (as expected by Goldman Sachs or JPmorgan, not sure which one) then may be faster.  brows.gif

One thing make me think twice (just personal preference) before buying this kind of counter, it doesn't pay any dividend due to company massive expansion programme needs.
Nibbling little for speculation may be when it is a penny stock.  brows.gif

if oil price hits,150....do u think MAS will be effected also?
i mean they are leveraging at 80 right?
at what price does MAS gets the hit too?
