I left piano for a few years now. Forgot how to read some notes. Care to explain it to me please? LOL The number 88 on top of the treble clef means what liao ah? and the x beside the C is which key liao ah? I totally forgot. and the notes look like a diamond or square stands for what liao ah? How to play on piano ah? Educate me please. Hahahaha. Thanks in advance!

For the first pic, the number 88 means its bar number 88 As for the x sign, it means double sharp, a semitone higher from C sharp, played as D As for the second picture I am not sure I think it is harmonics but I have no idea how you can do that on piano

the X is call a double sharp. is where by a person plays the note 2 semitone higher ignoring the diatonic key of the piece and playing it as it is refering to the note and ignoring all acidental infront.
Simplified, just play the note 2 higher, C play D G play A G# play A# E play F#

QUOTE(zulzaraeen @ Apr 21 2008, 06:12 PM) what is liao ah means?hehehe..sory just curious.. it's chinese accents. "liao" means "already" into hokkien. i eat dinner liao = i eat dinner already. when add in "ah", it can be a question, or further "confirm". for example: you eat dinner liao ah? i eat already ah. ...

picture cant be seen liao.
if got bass clef & treble clef together, means piano. cause violin cant play both part.
it could be played on a violin by just playing the treble clef lo

i just realize this song is salute d'amour. most likely for guitar duet, and more suitable for acoustic guitar or electric clean sound (distortion cannot la cause this song so sweet), cause the lowest note is E which is the lowest note on a normal guitar (and guitar read treble clef only i think). Not quite make sense to play with piano as the notes are overlapping. now it can be explained that why there's harmonic notes. This post has been edited by little ice: Apr 22 2008, 09:11 PM

X thingy is a double-sharp,8va means an octave higher,i this case means that the G note and E note is played an octave higher from the original by using harmonics....
and...the 88 most probably means the number of the bar....i thinks this is a guitar duet....
