Anybody tried the Videotone? Allows videos instead of ringtones to be set as your ringing alert. I have mine set to my most played song at the moment, and it's Viva la Vida from Coldplay. Used the iTunes version of that music video too. rclxms.gif

Okay, this is getting pretty exciting! It's like destiny intervening!

Ayone read the Engadget article on the international launch, particular the current NZ launch? It is at this link.

Particularly this picture, brings my attention to how ridiculously easy for me to get an iPhone 3G!

user posted image

See that name of the hotel? Citylife Hotel Auckland? That is our nightstopping hotel in Auckland! I could simply walk down from the hotel and pop in and get one for myself!

What about the price you ask? Head on here fo Vodafone NZ rates/plans. See that little "+" sign next to the "iPhone Only" phrase? Click that, and as the price reveals itself........the price for an iPhone 3G without a contract/plan for Kiwis is........*drumroll*.......NZD1129! That translates to RM2779! shocking.gif

Further exemplifying the fact that this is fate, I've just came back from a mandatory course in Malaysia Airlines Academy Kelana Jaya today(yesterday), and conincidentally, a close colleague is going to Auckland TODAY! He was checking out the iPhone himself, and during coffee breaks and lunch, he was geting more and more poison from me as he fondled my iPhone. As it turns out, with that confirmation page that Vodafone store right at the doorstep of our nightstopping hotel is selling the iPhone 3G, at THAT price, and the fact that I can kirim it from him while he's there TOMORROW, .........I dont see it as anything but destiny. tongue.gif I was very skeptical on my chances on getting it from Paris or Frankfurt, and lo and behold, it turns out that an opportunity presents itself, and I may be able to secure one(with the help of the guys going to Auckland tomorrow) and have it in my hands in 4 days time! rclxm9.gif

Cannot wait for them to come back! drool.gif

If I ever do plan to sell my own first gen iPhone, I'd slap on a price closer to its original pricetag. Reason being, those who dont want to get scalped into getting the 3G version, would have to consider the second-hand market and now it is the time for this gen's owners to set the price appropriately.

Depending on where you get your iPhone(locally or US), I'd say that RM1,500 - 2,000 is fair. Time to take control of the situation and get a good price on the iPhone itself. Want a brand new iPhone? Get the 3G version, but be prepared to pay up to RM3,000. Heck, even those who've got the frist gen from the States could even make some money back because of the exorbitant price set by local parallel importers.

Quicktime Pro, if you can get it upgraded from the basic Quicktime, does it all. Comes with the presets needed, dont have to figure out bitrates, passthroughs or downsampled quality that you need.

Videora is the other alternative, but google is your best friend.

For free American iTunes account,

http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2008/01/12871/

http://www.tunecore.com/freealbum

Set it up using instructions from those links, and you can access US iTunes store, and the AppStore as well. If you're interested on the AppStore only, you can simply use your Malaysian credit card to register an account(Malaysian AppStore only though) and go from there.

to add credit you still need either a credit card of the respective region you registered on, or iTunes gift cards, also of the same region.

World’s Smallest iPhone/iPod Bluetooth Transmitter

user posted image

Introducing the world’s smallest iPhone/iPod Bluetooth A2DP stereo audio today, the INFINXX AP23. It is said to be the smallest but doesn’t look like one. This wireless device allows users to receive music to their wirelessly using the Bluetooth headphones. Get this 5 grams gadget for $62.

I've given up on stereo BT A2DP thing, got the Motorola HT820 and the iTech BT stereo clip-ons and the audio quality isnt up to snuff. Very shrill and lack definition. Sure it is convinient without dangling wires, but I've learn to accept dangling wires, but I cannot accept losing audio fidelity.

You can do that......with 2.0 tongue.gif .

That option is built into iTunes 7.7. When you plug in your iPhone 2.0, right click on your iPhone, and you can choose either to synchronise or backup. But iTunes 7.7 came with a pretty serious bug, instead of being able to choose between sync or backup, it syncs and backs up EVERY TIME you plug in your iPhone 2.0. Why this is a glitch is because, backing up your iPhone 2.0 every time is time consuming, it does not back up incrementally like Time Machines, it does the full back up every time, at every sync. This bug has been raised in Apple discussion forum, and awaiting rectification.

In the mean time, I simply cancel backup everytime I sync. But at least let the backup sequence run once, to make sure you have a backup. This is especially crucial, because with iTunes backup, supposedly you can restore your iPhone 2.0 right to the point of last backup, with all apps intact. Apps here means apps from the AppStore, not Installer. That is why it takes so long to do.

Malaysian iTunes account have limited contents. You can add credit card to purchase Apps, but the amount of apps are not as extensive as the American ones.

It is worthwhile to get an American iTunes account, there are tons of free stuff available for download. Only last week I got Duffy's new single, and that single turns out to be a full-fledged hit on the US charts. Pilots of new TV series, and of course US iTunes only apps.

Try Apple's address at Cupertino. Should be in your manual or in your iPhone box.

No, that wont work.

I've already reminded about the need to get an iTunes account previously, but I guess nobody listens to me. Steps and links were provided not just by me, but others as well, including valid addresses. Some even in Chinese, I think. Malaysians like to do things last minute?

Recent article points towards the iPhone 3G carrying the innards/sound processor akin to the ones found on the iPod Classic, a.k.a a real DAP audio processor. I've been using my QC3 all this while, so does not matter to me which has better sound, the EDGE or the 3G model.

Yup. WWAN, instead of WLAN. The idea of "Push" services is to keep the same data streamlined with everyone in the same network. Hence why for the enterprise folks, this is very important. One time they may have a set of appointments on their iPhones, and suddenly have to set EGM at soonest possible, they can simply "Push" those notification via iCal/MobileMe/Microsoft Exchange to their employees.

For normal users like us, it is just a matter of convinience. I love being able to edit on a normal PM environment(MobileMe) or on a Mac and have it immediately "Pushed" to my iPhone without the need to do long edits on the iPhone itself.

I have Enigmo, and it is ENGAGING to say the least! Really recommended, it will eat away at your free time in no time.

Aurora Feint is awesome too, and it is FREE! Very rewarding upgrade-based RPG system, all based on playing BEjeweled-like game. Rotate the screen for even more twist! rclxms.gif

I know, I shouldnt be posting, since I've said I'm going to work, but just got a call from Despatch Center that the flight got delayed. So I'm just lepak-ing in Sentral Starbucks while waiting for time to report in. tongue.gif
