one question regarding SwirlMMS

the front page stated the following setting:
MMS setting for iPhone

Maxis
APN: net
APN name: maxis
APN password: wap
WAP gateway: 202.75.133.49
MMSC: http://172.16.74.100:10021/mmsc

in the iphone, it requested "Proxy"...what should i put?

i tried to send a MMS but it pop up error message, "Failed to send MMS - Unsupported protocol", hhmmm unsure.gif

I know this would be a stupid question to ask but here goes .... did u activate MMS with maxis?

If yes then do this:
1. Go to Setting --> Phone --> network --> EDGE
2. Put in the APN, username and password. It should be the same as above but one thing u must make sure, if your sim card is a 3G sim then the APN name should be unet and if its not then the APN name is net.
3. Once this is done, try open safari and open google. This is just to make sure u can access the net.
4. Open SwirlyMMS setting.
5. The setting should be:

    MMSC: http://172.16.74.100:10021/mmsc
    Proxy : 202.75.133.49

APN          : net @ unet (depends on the sim card)
    Username : maxis
    Password  : wap

6. Save the setting and try out if it works or not. (hope it does)
*
ahh i missed step 1 & 2, silly me!

let me try again.

thanks a lot, frozzbyte wub.gif

messed up with my iphone just now, the nightmare started after i transfer a video & a song via itune to the phone. no idea what happened, trying to play music/video/etc, no sound coming out.

decided to restore it to default setting, and i come across this site, teaches you how to unlock & jailbreak in split seconds, very easy and straightforward, worth bookmarking for newbies biggrin.gif

(my first time doing unlocking & jailbreaking~~)

Why does when user face a problem with their iPhone, the only solution is to restore?

@panasonic88
Your problem can simply be solved by reseting the phone (reset all setting) or the plug/unplug the earphone trick. Well people do learn their best thru mistakes right.

BTW ... the guide is not that bad

i never doubt your knowledge on iphone, frozzbyte, you are really good on this biggrin.gif

yes you are right, i read about the above 2 solutions when i did my googling. i tried, but to no avail, still no sound, you see. no choice, but to do the restoring.

i guess should be something corrupted when i fiddle around with the Ringtone app, my guess.

Well we still in the learning process. I may know something u don't and u may know something i don't. So we share and learn new stuff right.

I did encounter the no sound problem after i install the iPhone Video Recorder app. There's a way to rectify it without restoring. I don't think it will get corrupted if u just fiddle around with ringtone app or upload videos and music. Did u try pluging in the earphones and play a movie or songs and not just plug in/out?

Why i don't encourage restoring everytime u face a problem? Coz if we don't know whats causing it, we might repeat it back after we restore and face the problem again. If its truly no way around it then restore will be the last resort.

iPhone Video Recorder? emm i had that too, but it was installed couple days ago, nothing was wrong, from what i can see hmm.gif

regarding the bolded sentence, yup, tried that either.

below are the symptons i noticed on yesterday,
- it become extremly lagging when i enter to Settings > Sounds
- under Settings > Sounds, the volume adjustable level stays at muted
- i need to manually drag the volume level, and again, very lag
- changing a ringtone also lag
- opening a music / video also very lag
- when i press the "Play" button, a noticeable 5-seconds lag, and no sound coming out

solution i tried (googled from the web)
- go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
- plug in earphone and try to play a song/movie

still, to no avail
no choice (plus a little panic tongue.gif)
opt for restore it

guys, i was playing with my iphone, uninstalling those unwanted applications. i dunno what i did, heres the problem

(1)- when u exit from installer after u uninstall something, it will give u a vibrate (which all these while dun have, it just restart summerboard)

(2)- all my customize ringtones are gone. even those contact ringtones are gone. where has all my cutted ringtone gone to?

(3) by the way, i did play with instaFresh, but what is it exactly, is this causing the problem?

(4) - SMSD is not working, it will return to summerboard right after u click on it.
*
i used to have the same sympton (1) & (4)

no idea how to solve it, find no answers from the net either, even i uninstalled the SMSD and reinstall it, still same outcome.

would like to hear some feedback from experienced users as well.

so surprised to see they charged me RM68++ for the data usage which is about 6MB shocking.gif shocking.gif

i have already installed BossPref where i have the option to disable the Edge settings, i surfed the web using my home wifi, i really cracked my head, how did they charge me sad.gif

i had been worried about this matter, as i read some members here encounter the similar case before. now, i already switched the iphone to be my second phone now, using a celcom prepaid card with it. ghosh!!

Hey panasonic88 tongue.gif

I've posted this previously but maybe maybe i shall suggest this again since you ask. What i do is, i only apply the correct EDGE settings when i need to use it. For example, the APN for Maxis is suppose to be 'unet'. I set it to 'une'. And only apply the correct settings (unet) when i need to use it. May seem troublesome to some, but i think it is really easy for me. By doing this i can completely eliminate the possibility of what you called as "mou la la" charges.
*
yeah that is one of the tricky method to use. thanks for sharing biggrin.gif

QUOTE(frozzbyte @ Jun 13 2008, 12:05 AM)
If u want to know why your app is not working i.e just return back to springboard then do this:

1. Login to PuTTY either thru WinSCP or PuTTY itself.
2. Now u are on root user. Change to mobile user by using this command "su mobile"
3. The "#" sign should change to "$". This is to indicate u r a mobile user.
4. Now go to the /Applications folder and to the app that u want to access i.e SMSD.app
5. Find the binary file i.e SMSD and type this in PuTTY "./SMSD"
6. The app will load in your phone and u can see error messages (if any) if the app is not loading properly
7. To terminate the app just hit Ctrl+C

Hope that help in troubleshooting with those app thats giving trouble.

Word of advice, if u don't know what u are doing than don't do it or u might make things worse.

call me noob, i am lost starting from Step 1. haha!
thanks so much for sharing, frozzbyte, i am sure the guide would be useful for some people out there smile.gif
