To answer this question, there is no need to downgrade your sim card to the 2g version...recently I have my buyer went to the Celcom branch in TTDI with me, initially to downgrade the sim card. But to my surprise, the front desk girl told me that there is a latest Celcom 3g sim card specially catered for iPhone users !! In fact you can use it on other phones as well...they even help you to transfer your old data to the new iPhone 3g sim !!
So whenever you guys have the older 3g sim card, just head to the Celcom branch and tell them that you want the Apple iPhone 3g sim card...and still maintain your existing unlimited broadband package. Cool isnt it ????  rclxms.gif

Hi, I'm new here,
I need confirmation on this. (It took me 190KM to go to nearest Celcom Branch sad.gif )
anyone here already use the latest celcom 3g sim card for the iphone? is it working without the "trick"?
Confirmation Plz....

Thankx

no david copperfield trick here unfortunately.
if your current 3G celcom sim card fails, im afraid you need to travel 190km to your nearest celcom branch to either opt for the specially created 3G sim card for iphones or the conventional 2.5G sim card.
fyi, you can still call and txt just fine. only when its comes to data connections.
*
My current celcom 3g sim card only work with my iphone with the changing sim card with some 'TRICK'. But the problem is if I restart the iphone or switch on the edge the signal will lost and the "fixed dialing active" msg pop up and have to do the trick again.

iPhone not recognize my 3g sim card if i just insert the sim like the normal procedure without the trick. This iphone work well with the celcom 2.5G sim card and no problem with the GPRS or Edge with digi.

The problem with the celcom is if u have upgrade your sim card to 3g, you can't downgrade it. unless if you are prepaid 3g user and don't want to change your current number u can switch to postpaid and apply for the 2G sim card. But if the new celcom 3g sim card work with the iphone, i have to change my current 3g sim and need 2 and half hour driving to NEAREST CELCOM BRANCH.... rclxub.gif

sounds really 'leceh' eh? well look on the bright side, thats your very own bosspref app (unless you have unlimited data package activated). but as mentioned, i am no celcom subscriber, hence my knowledge on its operational status is fairly limited.
its really really leceh. Even worst now i can't switch on the Airplane Mode, otherwise my iPhone will become a iPod Touch... Need to change the new celcom 3g sim or just hoping the v2 firmware support this sim card.

Dear Nokia2003

Have u received my PM?? just wonder why my sent folder still empty after 2 times I send pm to you.

Anyway, I got this trick from mypdacafe.com forum so the credit should goes to them.

Okay, 1st step put atnt sim card or any working simcard, digi, maxis (other than celcom) n power on.. Wait till got some signal bar / no network display..

2. Go to setting, carrier. It will search for network. (if no carier show, go back home and wait a while). wait till all 3 network found. (leave the right tick to default "automatic")

3. Press power button (put iphone on standy NOT OFF).

4. Replace the simcard with celcom. (the msg no sim will pop up.. just ignore it and just press the power button to put it on standby mode again)

5. Press power button then 'slide to unlock' You will see the network list. Choose celcom and go home.. Never enter carrier menu again.

Note: on step 5 you need to unlock (keying sim card pin) 1st if you enable the sim lock.

Good Luck

Noting much new for the v2 firmware.

QUOTE from ZIBRI blog

Well 2.0 will not have MMS, not have cut & paste,
no new applications (guess why!). So, aside from exchange
support and appstore what did they change ? I'll tell you: security !
Yes, Apple tightened iPhone security (their security not yours)
a new crypto algo has been introduced
(and promptly defeated as expected).
No more "8900" files but IMG3. Firmware 2.0 will require
a new iTunes version and a new "mobiledevice" framework.
If it were for me I would not even bother to hack this version

Btw, iPhone is not so smart, let say we send a text or call a number for example: 012-123 4567. When the number replied back, it will show +6012 123 4567 so if we save our contacts without +6 code, it'll display numbers instead of names.  yawn.gif

Added on June 4, 2008, 5:39 pmNon smartphones can handle that just fine.

Just install the AppSupport Patch either from bigboss or iclarified and make sure you select the right firmware

after googling for a few hour i found that the problem was happen if u transfer the contact from sim using anykind of software (isim or simport) to iphone contact.

The solution is go into each contact and hit edit.. make a change... hit save... change it back.. then it will register in Caller ID.

...and make sure u have install appsupport patch.

Happy Hacking

Apple plans on releasing firmware 2.0.1 to fix some of the current bug problems before jumping in with a host of new features in 2.1. Not all is well on the beta scene though, it seems the new firmware has some of the developers a little up in arms. According to Ars Technica, any device that is updated to 2.1 cannot be used to submit new Apps to the App store, and any 2.1 device becomes locked and cannot be downgraded to 2.0. This means, developers will need up to six devices to deliver apps on a regular basis: 2 iPhone 3Gs, 2 iPod Touch and 2 first gen iPhones.

is it working fine ?

i did a search in all the threads. unable to retrieve results from the search ~

Stringfellow use it and confirm it worked (New Zealand Version)

QUOTE
5. NZ iPhones are fully unlocked, and is confirmed working by me, on all three major Malaysian carriers, Celcom, DiGi and Maxis. They are working both in call and texting for all three carriers, and working on 3G data on both Celcom and Maxis. All you need to do to activate your NZ 3G iPhone is connect it via iTunes and go through the process. You will need to either register an account with iTunes, or use your already pre-made account that you've created before or using now. I strongly recommend creating an account first to simplify and smoothen the process of unlocking. Keep your sim card inside the iPhone during activation. After the activation process, you can straight away use your iPhone with your favourite carrier here.
