if it's expensive then can go those chain shops ( brothers / cosplus ) to get a china made HU if u r not tring to impress. As far as i know this panasonic HU is the cheapest among all the gud brands, but i not yet check JVC la.

get pioneer model... DEH-P3050UB cost around 4xx, or DEH-4050UB cost around 5xx
u can get from one of the forumer here, he's selling... name yohannes

3050UB is a good choice. i am using one and loving it. but i rarely use its USB mode...

yup... get this pioneer models n attach a card reader to usb to play any type of memory cards

pioneer is quite a gud budget brand.. but nowadays the new model's design don't look nice.. that holds me back from getting them..

I dun fancy high quality of audio system but just need to replace the stock clarion cassette player. USB and mp3 in DVD will be my top priority.
