for treable tis set should b not bad oo
but den those THX certified is juz a usual thing dun put so much hope on it hehe~ even logitect z5500 THX for it also juz usual not like those real home theater try to think tat usual home theater set for THX certified at least cost u 10k for the speaker oni
but den those multimedia speaker juz cost u few hundred or 1k something like tat. so dun put so much hope on it

now i got offer Logitech Z680 from forumer...i my opinion i want to get this logitech speaker...

what i do research & google...i see Z680 subwoofer rated 188watt RMS compare Creative MegaWorks THX 5.1 550 rated 150watt RMS.....


i think to get this logitech...is it value for my money?

Wattage is not everything man...logitech subwoofer too high wattage actually drown out the other speaker sound..if u listen a lot music with strong bass or u like bass more then any other thing, then logitech is the speaker for u man...

gigaworks sub r prone 2 overheat..prepare 2 find a good cooling solution if u r getting it

Any Mega work 550THX user over there? any well known problme with this model?

Don't buy a model which is already obsolete 3-4 years ago as there will not be any spare parts available like what we experience with Creative's s750, from Creative Labs Megaworks 550 or Logitech z680. Both these series already have newer series replacing it and definitely you will be asking for trouble if there is problem when the warranty is over.

My advice is to get the newer series with caution; go to their forum to see what other user says about the speakers and overheating sub+amp is one of them. Price may be attractive but eventually you will end up with a lemon and you cursing and swearing. These are like all computer hardware if its an old series you will know that it will not be entertain by the retailer and distributor when there are problems. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN, BRO. Don't buy it because of price , there are always a reason why it so cheap currently,believe me.

how about quality Logitech G51?this is new product from logitech..the price also nice for me

i'm Megaworks 550 THX user, I'd been using AL 885 previously before this megaworks.
So far sound quality definately mega best the AL885 flat, althought sattelite doesnt come with tweeter. For Altec is good in bass, you can hear the bass got tune one when set to Prologic mode, unlike logitech the bass just got boom boom sound.
For Music Lover, Mega is ur choice, high wattage doesnt mean anything. When lowest volume, I still can ejoy my music as the sattelite produce the sound clearly, but AL in low vol i cant barely hear anything cause the bass will cover everything.

I bought for ~Rm600 from UK back then.

IIRC, that's the price from imculguy

not being bias or what, but creative was never good at speakers.

the megawork 550 is ok, but the woofer bottoms out when the volume goes beyond midpoint.

for logitech, their system are either just loud, or too bass heavy.
there are alot of ppl who say that the Z5500 is good, but i think not.
its satellite speaker are very good in its class, but the letdown is that the woofer is only strong when pushed beyond a certain volume. below that, the system is just loud and boring, lacking low end support.

just my two cents ppl. =)

i own z680, although it's a old model but it does play pretty good. Frankly i would say speaker is something will last for long time and if you really want to invest, invest in the one that really got some quality.

noted, creative speakers tend to blow amp but for clarity, i think they are the best. logitech heavy bass, personal preference by lower down the bass from the control unit and tweak from your player's EQ (if you are using pc), the sound will turn out pretty sweet. Aego M got good reviews but sadly only 2.1 and it cost a lot.

I'm getting the Megaworks 550 in about 2 weeks time to pair up with my creative x-fi fatality...

finally i just bought 2nd hand Logitech Z680 speaker & OEM x-fi Fatality ....but not try it yet..need to sleep la...

im not trying to be bias. but creative best speakers are megaworks and gigaworks. however, yet, ive seen million complaints about dead amps in those products. also creative is the first multimedia speaker which uses AC to AC adapter for almost all its product. hell expensive to replace the adapter if its dead.

well since i've not hear any about logitechs i guess logitech are better, in terms of lifetime. well who want a good quality speakers for limited period?

yup bro...who want expensive for limited period ..that why i took 6 month to think which to buy ...right now now i'm trying my stuff..what i found that about my z680...the built amp + heatsink ( i think la ) at subwoofer too hot... ...

btw...fatal1ty one is best to pair with this speaker...this is my opinion la...best quality sound for me already

why dun you go for CREATIVE MEGAWORKS 510D 5.1?this is valuable for money...pair with good soundcard..

510d is around rm400 new set...i see at garage sales..please pm bro imculguy..someone at garage sales want to sell this speaker rm300..location seller at melaka...

i juz bought the 510D from iimculguy....its a great set of speakers..listening to it now, i would personally say this is better than my ACS45.1, ACS48, ATP3, VS4121 and to a certain extent the MX5021.

its a great piece for music and movies...the sound reproduction is just perfect....except maybe...the treble would lose to AL speakers.

by the way, doesn anyone know how to keep this amp cool? i have read reports online that the BASH amp can get very hot and this is what causes the speakers to die off suddenly...

i used table fan to cool down my subwoofer...hehehe...btw i thinking to modded 120mm AC fan to cool down my built in amp...in progress...hehehehe

can you take pictures as you go along..
it would be helpful to share with the rest of us who use this notorious BASH amp as well..
