depends really.

for medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, u cannot escape.
u can run but u cant hide, they'll still require that u serve them.

for engineering and others, sometimes if no job for u all like maybe for 6 months, then u all will be released from bond.

offer letter? AFAIK, they only inform you thru the net, not actually inform, but you need to check with the website when the time comes.. and when you apply for jpa, usually there'll be document for you to print.

"Surat tawaran rasmi akan dihantar kepada anda melalui pos."

that's what is written on the offer letter on the page. so, hopefully, it'll be in the same envelope. smile.gif

My bro pursue medic under MARA. if under mara, for medic just have to serve them 3 years.

for engineering under mara, if i'm not mistaken, no bonding.

under JPA, medic and engineering both got bond. for medic 10 years. engineering i dunno.

For JPA, the bonding for engineering will be 4 years. You will be required to lapor diri as soon as you finish the degree. However if they didn't give you any job within 6 months, you are off the hooks.

Another thing is, usually your degree required you to have industrial training. If you impress your employer, there's a small chance they will grab you once you finish your study and pay your scholarship back to JPA.

stated in my contract - 6years to 7years. they upped the allowance some more now. the more successful you are, the more likely you'll end up with them .. why would they take average student with average CGPA (take me for example sweat.gif )

depends on type of scholarship
There are the no bounded scholarships-last year some cemerlang spm/stpm students got from agong.
Bounded- depends on course and type of degree. Higher degree qualification usually higher bond.
Typically its just a golden handcuff bond, service, no need to pay back.
Better than petronas scholar where 1 year borrow=2 years service. But petronas are more lavish. That is why you work more for them

My best friend is in France studying engineering and her bond is 5 years and the course duration is 7 years. smile.gif

Added on April 18, 2008, 11:40 pmOK, managed to chat with her... She told me her bond is 6 years not 5 years as I mentioned earlier. blush.gif
But she said the contract changes every year, so it means JPA can do the amendment every year. smile.gif

She is in the 5th batch to France and this year will be 9th batch if she's not mistaken and the course will be shortened to 6 years instead of 7 years, she is still with the old system, 7 years. smile.gif

highly doubt it since when you applied, you only applied for one course and even when they interview you, they ask you why you chose that one specific course.

well, i've already lapor diri last monday(5/5/08)..

i had 3 days orientation nad up to now, 2 classes(leaarning basic japanese)

online, you just tick the box of accepting or rejecting the given offer.
no need go putrajaya sweat.gif

then you sign up at the place you'll be prepping on the given date lah.

i don't know about other courses but for my course JPA gave me the offer letter on the day i arrived at UTM to sign up.

I don't think JPA will bond you unless it is specify in your agreement.

JPA will sent you 3 copies of the Agreement between you and JPA via pos if you have been offered a scholarship by them. A very important document. For US bound students, you are bonded for 6 years. Extending your course duration by half a year results in your bond increasing to 7 years. For any cases outside what is mentioned in the agreement, you have to negotiate with JPA yourself and you bond period may change subsequently.

ofcourse, if u only look at salary, it's nothing to brag about.

but then there's the family allowances, house allowances, not to mention extremely low car and house interest rates, free medical for the entire family, bonus every year and so on. so people usually dont mind being bonded for the first 5-6 years of their working life bcoz they can use the low interest rates to establish themselves and settle down. there's also free training programme for government staffs which u can take while u're there. this will increase ur credibility and resume. even if u do masters in IPTA, u will take cuti belajar, and the year u spent will still be counted in the bond.

for example, i'm bonded for 5 years for my masters that starts the day i graduated (2004). a year after that i started my PhD. so now i'm in the third year. after i finish hopefully next year, i'll be bonded for 7 years for PhD, but at the same time i've already finished my masters contract.

WRONG!

i think the bumiputera only 1 is the one at UM for the course that's straight to degree.

my course is for a diploma then a degree.

i'm currently prepping at UTM, jalan semarak.

in my batch this year, i think like half of the students are chinese.

there are also indian students and even iban here!

ps/ don't go spouting nonsense with 'facts' that have yet to be backed up.

I think those with 10As or above will only get the scholarship. Regarding bumi or non-bumi, i don't have much comment but i heard this year a lot of non-bumi got the scholarship. This was in the news but i'm not too sure about the actual % between bumi and non-bumi.
