To all Sifu,

I plan to get a 32-40" LCD/ Plasma TV. My budget is RM4500.
Currently i plan to get Pana Plasma, coz can watch sports with no problem but in order to get Full HD 1920X??? Plasma TV, it is too expensive... Any LCD with 100MHz Motion Flow and Full HD selling around 4k? Sony latest V400 is full HD for 40" but no motion flow.. when u watch sports sure blur blur 1...

full hd sure expensive...more than 6k...wif ur budget 4500..go for panny biggrin.gif

W400 is full HD but no motionflow.... same case... currently only X series offer both Full HD and Motionflow....

My family own a V300 46"... Okie.. to watch local channel... in fact local channel clearer than Astro channel...
But certain Astro channel also quite clear, some not so clear.... bUT when come into sports channel.... motion flow play a very important roles...

Hi guys,

I'm planning to get a Bravia soon. So the recommendation would be the V series instead of the S series?

I'm looking at HD ready instead of Full HD due to budget constraints tongue.gif

My budget is around 3k and any particular shops to recommend? around kl city/cheras area.
*
DONT EVER GET S SERIES.... My dad using V 300 Series until now also no prob but my dad bought another S series for my granny... 1 week straight "Kong" liao... bring back to the shop and top up to get V series... until now also no prob.... But to be frank... i dun think get Sony a good choice... regret to recommand my dad to get the lcd... coz i tot got Astro Enhancement Mode sure good for watching Astro... Mana tau also so so only...

Also, i notice Sony "GADGET" all focus on 3 basic colours, even for my Alpha camera... all image produce rich in red, green and yellow... sometimes i feel it is not natural.... For LCD... i recommand Toshiba(more natural, i heard they use 6 colour in LCD)... while for Plasma... i recommand Pana or Pioneer( if u got the money tongue.gif ).. lastly, for Camera i recommand Nikon and Fujiflim... LOL...

Anyway, i am planning to get a Pana plasma around 4-5k... cheers thumbup.gif

Dear all,

i've ask around for 40" Plasma and LCD around... With my budget (5K).. a lot salesman recommand me to buy Panna PV80.. I am sure playing Astro on it will not be a problem... How about direct PC plug in??? it max support is 1024*768? any 1 tried to plug in their pc to their Panna? How it looks? Sharp? Blurish? I need some feedback...

Thanks.

if u gonna use the tv as PC plug in most of the time, plasma tv is not suitable for u.

however, LCD tv 40" doesnt perform as good as plasma tv in term of astro signal and movie watching.

if u think that u seldom connect the pc into tv, u may consider for plasma tv.

i dont see a point that buy a 40" lcd tv to use as PC input and let go the quality of plasma tv on astro and dvd play.
*
aduh.... actually my usage will be 50% astro and 50% computer plug in... coz i dl a lot DIVX movie or MKV files...
I also have an intention of getting a small size desktop(for dl and gaming) and plug into the LCD/PLASMA for 24 7....
so when ever i get bored of Astro... i just switch to PC input to check out what movie finish dl or what game i wanna play now....

PLEASE ADVISE THE BEST TV I CAN BUY WITH MY MONEY!!

RECOMMANDATION PLS.... Maybe i can sacrifice a bit on Astro......

tom, if u can sacrifice on astro, then go get a LCD
*
Okie... i can sacrifice(a bit on Astro), meaning i still hope the LCD can perform at okie okie performance when watching Astro... not too blur or hazzy...

So, which LCD to get???? This is another question....

Panny really so suck at PC input???

Better in what sense?? Video quality clearer?? LCD Sharper display??
I need some facts/data... I need to know whether i can live with it or not.... Maybe i can accept the tiny "flaws" of a Plasma playing computer output.

As for Sony LCD... i am Not going to buy... As i said previously in previous post.. my dad using Vseries 46".... I dun like the colour.... too "Colourful" in red, green and yellow... Picture seems not natural when watching astro... dun mention about the blurness.... So far for LCD... i think Toshiba Colour is da best...

How about Panny LCD?? I remember got 100Mhz for motion flow image... 37" i think is good enuff... What da resolution ya? Full HD?

I still dun understand why ppl. still buy a 40inch Sony LCD...just compare it to a Panny 42incher....Panny color look more natural, blacks are blacker than an LCD. Reds also are natural looking...Sony wan way to red...and if tone down, looks washed out....or maybe its my eyes.
*
Agreed.. Parent been using Sony Vseries 46"... As i said in previous post... colour not natural and too "over" colour...
But i see only X series give natural colour but it is way too over price.... Fully import from Jap...
Anyway, the "Sony" branding is always good... It "jamin" ur second hand value.... lol... thumbup.gif

You can always manually tune picture and sound to personal comfort level. I've had so many TV's in my life and I'll always personalize those settings. There's no such thing as NATURAL color. TV is only an emulation and approximate. It can't be better than cinema FILM. Every DVD movie and TV channels have different display results and we can only but attempt to compromise somewhere in between.
BTW..the Panny default sound settings ARE CRAP!, even the BALANCE is not in center,  thats why I spent some time personalizing them.
*
Sometimes no matter how skillful is ur tuning technique... u will never get the colour u want....
For example, my Sony Alpha Camera will never give me the colour i want in a Nikon Camera or Fujiflim(competitor colour are more natural)... Dun talk about editing in Adobe...

For LCD case, currently i think only Toshiba colour able to fullfill my requirement... it is better to be stock rather than tune this and that are try to looks like others...

should I buy now or wait till month of olmypic in August for better price?

I am holding my 5k for now...
Reasons:
1. Waiting for Pana LCD LZ800 and Plasma PY800 to drop price...
2. Building up/ increasing/saving on my 5k to 6k.... So i buy a FULL HD TV with no regret!
Muahahahahahaha..... I still can tahan awhile more... Dun need the TV urgently but is definately a neccessity. icon_rolleyes.gif

Called the cc company, they said that they can't stop or reverse the transaction as it is between me and the seller. Fine. Looked up samsung website and filed a complaint online, got an auto email reply with ref number saying they'll look into it. Called senheng and got the asst mgr who said that he'll call back. Some time later, one of the salesboy called and started babbling that they had sent the wrong unit to me, got a mixup at the shop yadda yadda..I cut him off and said I wanted to speak with the mgr (who was out eating). Fine, tell him to call me back asap. Mgr called me afterwards and started the same babble that I got from the salesboy. I told him I wanted to cancel the purchase. He went on a abit after that, don't lah..we order new one oredi...give u free gift...yadda yadda. In the end, I said ok but I wanted a written confirmation by fax to my office that he will replace the display unit with a new unit. New unit arriving in 2 days so we'll see...  hmm.gif

Btw, is 1024 x 768 setting on PC definately show 4:3 standard on Plasma??? or only applied to PV80 and NOT to PY800... Please advise.
