For 1m or 2m those normal HDMI cable would suffice (no difference with expensive one). Anyway, not sure whether non 1.3 compliance cable can transfer DTS-MA or not since that HD sound format require higher bandwidth.

QUOTE(croozer @ Aug 11 2008, 09:33 PM) hi Sifus, How can a puppy post in a forum? Rcvd my panny 42pv80h from Jusco today. Questions: 1. I can't get video when connecting s-video cables, astro to panny. What am I doing wrong. It's ok, composite to composite 2. Anybody mind sharing the best settings for their pv80h in terms of PQ? 3. Since my home theatre with dvd player has hdmi connections, what are the best connection settings to hook up the astro decoder, home theatre to the pv80h. Thanks in advance. "You can wait and wait and never be happy. I got my panny and now I'm a happy puppy!" Anyway you might want to check you select the correct input from ur TV when using S-video. Also check any bent pin. Very easy to happen with that connector if you not careful. |

QUOTE(adrian0229 @ Aug 14 2008, 02:28 AM) We are Sony fan. We like Sony. We have no need to compare Sony with others. We also NEVER say plasma is bad. So why shot us down? QUOTE(99below0 @ Aug 14 2008, 10:01 AM) I'm just glad this is one of the few forums where enthusiasts have some sense to pick a superior PQ technology (eg Plasma) over that over-hyped over-priced POS tech called LCD. Again, you like plasma so by all means please do so. Not gonna tell u otherwise...but you should not under any circumstances labeled LCD as a "Piece Of Shit". Many people like LCD. Have some respect to what others like I mean, why pay big bucks for a 100Hz, super view-angle, 2ms, and whatever else tech word they can put in there (and your ASTRO will still look sh!t) when for under 4k you can get a plasma set that has no view angle problems, 0ms, and that you can watch ASTRO satisfactorily on. It's all a question of value for money. A 4k panny plasma will look better with a DVD upscaler than an 9k sony W-series. Try a comparison in a big electrical store and see. Let's not talk about blu-ray sources, cause frankly how many blu-rays are you going to buy vs the number of *ahem* DVDs? This is Malaysia, after all. ;-) No need to go around and use bad words. |

QUOTE(99below0 @ Aug 14 2008, 10:50 AM) Not trying to be rude or anything, just that I have both types, and I also have a lot of friends with LCD, and compare a lot of TVs in a lot of stores, and I just think that LCD is not a great TV technology. Let's not confuse great Sony design (no dispute there) with great viewing technology. See...you can give good advice and be nice at the same time Just trying to win back the day for actual PQ vs all the misinformation sown by our local electrical store salespeople that confuse customers to get them to buy high-margin LCDs. How can any salesman in good conscience, push a 12k Philips instead of a KURO when the customer says he only watches ASTRO and DVDs? Or an expensive Samsung 6-series over a Panasonic PY800 on the same criteria. I still watch a lot of shows on LCDs but at this point in time, in no way does it beat the sheer PQ or eye comfort level of a Plasma. If an informed consumer chooses a LCD in the end, then all power to him/her. It's a choice, a well-informed one. But uninformed consumers should not be suckered into buying LCDs over Plasmas because of reasons like "FullHD sharper for ASTRO", "LCD is new tech", "Plasma is hot like hell", "Plasmas will have screen burn and spoil easily". The only reasonable advantage of the LCD over Plasma is when primarily used for console gaming and as a extra-large PC monitor. A lot of people come into this thread looking for education and information so let's no just say stuff like "Sony is best la" or "dun ever buy Samsung la" without stating the reason why. I believed you know what you are talking about since you have both technology in your hands Ok people...carry on. Sony fan...never loose faith |

QUOTE(sunauto @ Aug 16 2008, 12:11 AM) Count me in too. I'm a Sony Bravia fan boy too. Exactly. The setting really makes a different and W series has a vast of setting. Even my D series not that much compared to W. Well maybe because its cheaper Colours are normally not natural when we're using the factory presets, we need to tweak the constrast, brightness, backlight, etc by ourself to get the right balance. Like my Bravia W series, the backlight was at 9 using factory presets but I've lowered it to 5, the picture is more natural, not too bright and the blacks are spot on. Anyway...I got Sony ally now. rx330 you dare to said that thing about Sony again? Its 2 against 1 now |

Anybody knows any HD Ready LCD that has a 1080p panel (not sure plasma got this or not)? Is 10 bit panel considered 1080p?
