I plan to buy panny plasma 50" PV80 and my living hall viewing distance is about 8ft to 9ft. Price quoted yesterday is RM 6750 and 1 month ago  was RM7200.
1) based on my viewing distance is it suitable for plasma 50"? The model is not full HD, so any impact with the large size?
2) Based on current price trend is it possible drop to RM6k within these 2 months?
3) My budget is around RM6k to 7k, other than panny plasma, any other model recommended for size between 46" to 50"?

I have been scouting for a 46 inch Full HD LCD for a few months, and the recent price drops have been most encouraging. Right now there are a few models (non 100/120Hz) who's price is RM7999 (Sharp A63 series, Samsung Series 5, Toshiba Regza) and also Sony with the new V400 at RM7499.

My preference is the Sharp. The Sony has a lot of electronic widzadry which makes the colours very unnatural. I don't like the Samsung's menu system, but their displays look real good though. As for the Toshiba, didn't they just lose the HD war? 

The Sharp seems to have basic features (no 24p and non PiP/PaP), but heck, even Sony is now using their AVS panels, right?

So, is Sharp the way to go? What do you all think?

saw the latest sony 20s400a. very nice and small. suitable for small rooms or kitchen. got 5 colors to choose from i think. i would love to buy one for my kitchen but the price is turning me off a bit. rm1800 is quite expensive for a 20" lcd considering the actual production cost should be way lower than the a 32" which cost rm700 more. i think i'll only buy it when the price drops to the 1300-1400 range.
