Apparently there is a version 2 for this cooler. Which has thinner seperators for the heatsink.
If u buy one, hopefully get the revised edition.
Personally i think i bought the old version. Which wasn't meant to be sold at all.
check out the contact surface for the ver2 achilles here.
Version 2 Achilles

Or i juz upload it here la. I hope the new version beats the copper pipes out of those other coolers.

According to reviews, the new "s1284" is 2'c cooler. Not a whole lot more cooler and not worth the extra money over the s1283. If u overclock get s1284, it does better at higher temperatures. If not overclocking the s1283 is fine. The non-red scorpion got faster fan i heard, but louder.
IMO, all high end cooler not much different for normal end user.

ham> Yup, ur right, with 88cfm fan the difference only 1'c.
haha... i think all of this is normal user heatsink. i personally think i'm pretty normal.
if really enthusiast, should go water cooling or n2o. hohoho. sounds fun tho.
now many people(those ppl who have interest in PC) with a decent computer will want to overclock. even i last time dun overclock, but if read processor review, sure got overclock segment already. alot of reviews for my processor say change the stock heatsink.
My pentium4 run heatsink is like aeroplane turbine. ppl come my house thot got aeroplane inside one. sighs.

Anyway, maybe some of u have already read this, the original s1283 is still the most "value for money" cooler.
