There is a tad less noise (at least thats what i think), but there's still some, so I guess the next step is onboard opamp mods
Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer + D.I.Y. EMI Shield
I used two layers of wire mesh (can get from hardware shop), insulated by a layer of Anti-static plastic and double sided foam tape. I cut a hole on the anti-static plastic for the heatsink to breathe.. whole process took no more than an hour
Just to share it with guys....
Another unrelated albeit a little simple performance Mod by me..
As u all know the 8800GTX stock heatsink uses thermal pads which.. well.. suck. Its hard to switch to better thermal compounds coz of the gap, which cannot be closed even when tightening the screws (coz even at max there's still a gap). So I used double sided tape as soft washers.. and used Artic Cooling MX-1 thermal paste (which aI also used on my mobo NB & SB)... and guess what? idle Core temp dropped a whopping 10C!
I was supposed to post this like 5 months ago to the 8 series thread but been busy.. heheh... this day and age of G92 i doubt this mod will b useful to u guys..
