QUOTE(clngu @ Apr 16 2008, 04:14 PM) I thought you guys are expert and taikor in AV field ... don't tell me you all never see and try Pioneer high-end products before If I had the 100k, I would rather buy top model B&W 800 series than Pioneer. With all due respect, the words Pioneer and High End don't go together in my mind. Now I don't doubt they have some serious shit, but the problem is they have too much mass market stuff around. QUOTE(megatron007 @ Apr 16 2008, 04:29 PM) 800 series? i guess now more than 100k per pair for front standI think 801D should still be less than 100k. 800D should be in the region of 100k or slightly above. This post has been edited by Audio Nirvana: Apr 16 2008, 04:57 PM

QUOTE(clngu @ Apr 16 2008, 04:32 PM) Pioneer high-end products never into mass market ... their target is $$ people What I meant was no matter what high end products they produce, their mass market products bearing their same brand name cheapens their appeal somewhat. For the same price, I can go for true high end brands, even if for no other reason than snob appeal. Which sounds better? "I have Pioneer speakers.... but they cost 100k" "I have B&W 800D speakers" "I have Wilson Watt speakers" Added on April 16, 2008, 4:48 pmQUOTE(clngu @ Apr 16 2008, 04:40 PM) Bro, here is the malaysia website and singapore websiteoops ... QUOTE(clngu @ Apr 16 2008, 04:49 PM) true high end brands ... please give example ... if it is available here, I will go test it Go to Monsoon on Jalan Maarof Bangsar and try speakers like the B&W800D. But beware, they're quite a LCLY bunch. But I must admit that B&W also have some lower end stuff, so they also cannot be considered exclusively high end. Brands like Wilson Audio not so easy to check out here. Megatron may like their stuff... their speakers look like Transformers.

If like the way Yamaha explains it, I wouldn't consider it 11.2 discrete. In my opinion, discrete means every one of those 11 channels gets a unique signal. Perhaps it's like delay the signal then. I'm no expert also but discrete means unique, whereas this receiver seems to be doing is using one of the original 5 or 7 channels, and manipulating it somewhat before sending it to the additional channels. That is not discrete. Those 11 channels can't be discrete unless the disc's audio is recorded with 11 discrete channels, and we all know that there is no such thing.

Ya, I think it won't be night and day difference also. Just fill in the gaps intelligently only, so to speak. Not unlike how an upscaler fills in the blanks by looking at the original pixels beside it, and then making a best guess as to what it should be.

QUOTE(clngu @ Apr 18 2008, 10:12 AM) Bro, you mean 30k can get B&W 800 series without subwoofer ... where where where Smallest of the 800 series range is the 805s bookshelf speakers. About RM10k per pair. Add another pair for the rear makes it RM20k. The HTM3S center is also about RM10k, if I'm not mistaken. So RM30k for the 5 speakers. You can confirm that at Monsoon if you go there this weekend. http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/display.aspx?infid=818&sc=htIf you don't want to spend so much, the Dali Ikon 6 speaker package is also very good. That one should be able to get 5.1 for about RM15k. Can check them out in City Square. This post has been edited by Audio Nirvana: Apr 18 2008, 10:32 AM

No lah, just that of the more mass market brands, B&W is possibly the best. Those real high end type cannot even dream about so don't bother talking about them lah.

Rogers used to be ok, but they've lost their plot already.
