It's not 30k for the 600 series lah. Siao ah?

30k can buy 2 pairs of 805s plus the center speaker already. But not enough for the sub.
*
Bro, you mean 30k can get B&W 800 series without subwoofer ... where where where

Smallest of the 800 series range is the 805s bookshelf speakers. About RM10k per pair. Add another pair for the rear makes it RM20k. The HTM3S center is also about RM10k, if I'm not mistaken. So RM30k for the 5 speakers.

You can confirm that at Monsoon if you go there this weekend.

If you don't want to spend so much, the Dali Ikon 6 speaker package is also very good. That one should be able to get 5.1 for about RM15k. Can check them out in City Square.

thanks bro, will go take a look ...

City Square ... you mean Crown Princess is it ... what is the shop name?

ma side firing liddat?

some bookshelfs got air port at the back, i think not so good to be so near the wall
*
speaker air port at the back ... you need to do sound acoustic treatment on the wall behind it ... otherwise the whole HT setup 75% failed already smile.gif

My living room is only 16x12'. Yet I have 7.1 setup.

16 feet is length or width ... a lot different in HT setup

Does it really matter? It's up to you whether you want to use the length as your width, or vice versa. I think what matters most is your door and window positions.
*
yupe ... affect your 7.1 setup ... door and window don't think matter most (unless the room is small) ... saw many dedicated HT room cover them up with acoustic materials ...

i only have 20ft x 10ft. but room double as a study room as well as HT room

10ft wall is the projection wall. i wish i got a wider room

I think pek pek also I can masuk 7.1 kua.... rolleyes.gif
*
20 feet as length ... can do 7.1 setup ... the surround back left and right can position behind your seat ... you can have B&W 600/700 series with Denon 3808/4308 or Pioneer LX70/90 or Onkyo 875/905

IMHO, if you have your front/side/rear speakers placed so near to each other, you just have all these sounds clashing with each other. Sort of one big jumble/rojak of sound, so to speak. So perhaps you'll have even more difficulty hearing the steering and panning effects.

I feel that there should not be too much overlapping of the range of each speaker. So where the sound of one speaker ends should be where the sound from the next speaker begins, with only a slight overlap, if you get what I mean.
*
I agreed with you
