I love food hunting. I would like to share some nice food place in Cheras area, Hope you guys can share yours in the return too! Thanks!

1) Len Seng Curry Zhee Chiong Fun:

Very nice curry and pig skin (non halal huh). It sells at a van, use to be motor. now earn money haha. located at the Taman Len seng lake.

2) Fried Ban Mee:

It fried with fresh prawn (not the big kind though). Very tasty and worthy! i tried the skinny type noodle. NICE!
Located in Shamelin, a hawker stall with two BIG PRAWN . very obvious. nearby PGRM building.

Only one ban mee stall there. order fried one. Good choice! i think it a new stall. last time don't have.

3) Claypot chicken rice:
I think it been there for many years but i only found out last month. located at taman Segar road side.

I stay in Pandan Perdana too. Oh well.

Well, the best chicken rice I've ever tasted is the stall beside leisure mall.

The one in pandan perdana is not bad, it's on the row nearest to the condo, it is near to the 'used to be' furniture shop.
They always reserve parking lot for their customers. smile.gif

The once in 118 foodcourt is also not that bad, but it's not as good as those two places up there.

Jeff place in Queen's park is beside the mamak.
Quite good food there.
And it is quite reasonably priced.
It's good for a small family occasion.
Can book in advance as well.

Hopefully Pandan Perdana is big enough.

Here's the chicken rice.

Apart from Jeff place in queen's park, there's another shop at the corner lot nearest to the exit (beside steamboat) is quite good too, but only for certain dishes.

There's BBQ Kong Meng duck rice at Taman Maju Jaya, it's the best
duck I've tried although some blog said Loong Foong Duck in
Paramount PJ is tasty, yet to try that one. Tried Sun Ming duck in Connaught b4, still find the one at Maju Jaya is tastier.

As for char siew, I've 2 stalls to rekomen, one is a chinese coffee shop name Uncle Meng near Kafe Pat Kin Pat San at Taman Shamelin. Only open during lunch time, I think Sunday is close.

And on my list best char siew is the one at Jalan Peel. Opposite Carrefour, there's Shell Station, and this char siew stall is almost nxt to this petrol station. Hard to miss as there'll be large crowd during lunch time especially weekends.

The char siew is available after 11am and also this stall got 'Lou Chue Yuk', small portion about rm10, big one around rm18, quite tasty as well.

Not open for dinner. Yet to try Overseas Restaurant Imbi char siew where some blogs claimed it's tasty, will try one day.

For claypot chicken rice, there's one economical clapot chic rice at Taman Segar. Quite tasty also. There's a few stalls at the roadside near Perodua car showroom, one is Tai Chau, another one is where many ppl go to eat the 'Cheung Jing' or 'Ching Jing' fish, n nxt to it is this Claypot chic rice.

Small one without Salted fish is rm5.50, for big one is rm11. Small sup is rm3 and big sup is rm6. I went there few times for dinner, according to the helper, opens for lunch n dinner but close on Friday.

In Pandan Indah, the Kow Siew Stall which specialise in Sang Har Mee is also yummy. It's nxt to Old Town Kopitiam. Frankly, I never eaten Sang Har Mee b4, normally will order the Ying Yeung minus the prawn, or Kong Chau Ngau Hor (beef kuew teow).

There's also this bat kut teh Keong Khee in Pandan Indah. Near Kow Siew also. Besides bat kut teh, got sell assam fish, claypot wine chicken, n other varieties as well. Never try the Ginger duck here b4 as when order, they always say takde though it's on the menu. Can anyone give komen whether the ginger duck here nice or not.

There's this tasty crab stall near STAR LRT. Unsure if the LRT name is Cahaya or Cempaka. It's a row of stall, opposite some condo. Got many ppl frequent the Yee Tau Mai stall which is just nxt to this crab stall.

The last I went is few years ago, though the stall is not pretty/clean, but many ppl especially on weekends. U know chinese lah, as long as food is good, they'll go though premises not that clean. But crab ain't cheap. Last time is around rm38 kg(few years ago), but the Shuen Lat (sweet n spicy) crab is really really tasty. 2 ppl eat, 1.5kg crab wth other dishes, maybe around rm100++ d.

Then there's this famous Woo Pin Fish Head Noodle in Cheras, also a chicken rice stall at Pandan Perdana, chee cheong fun in Yulek. Tasty Pei Tan Soh and egg tart at Toong Kee, Connaught.

I not that good in direction, if u really wanna know the location, maybe can PM me, I try explain d direction or show the food blog where got the above review.

Pls rekomen also where got nice food in KL/Cheras area. About the Jeffrey's place at Queen's Park, Peel Road, i saw this place b4, but what's the food there, western, chinese? Tasty? How's the price? Those who try b4, kindly advise.

And about the Restoran Kaki Bola, Fried Yee Tau Mei? Where is it exactly, coz have past by near Leisure Mall, and roads near Leisure Mall, didn't c any restaurant name Kaki Bola. Is it open at nite n how much is it?

Okie, everyone, happy eating.

Not really next to Old Town, maybe 3 or 4 shops away.
Anyway, the Sang Har Meen is really good and it's priced at about 40 bucks per person last time..
Not sure about it now.

Kons, about the duck rice at BBQ Kong Meng at Taman Maju Jaya, Cheras, u can check out this shop at this link:
http://babeinthecitykl.blogspot.com/search?q=BBQ+KONG+MENG

Try it, the duck is really nice. As for Keong Kee Bat Kut Teh at Pandan Indah, tar pau for dinner just now, one claypot for 1 person:rm8. They gave a lot of sup but not much ingredients. Pork nowadays is expensive.

Eat everywhere also nowadays, either the price have increase or if the hawker/restaurants didn't increase the price, then the portion will be smaller also.

U mentioned Jeff place's crab rice is yummy and price average, is it standard cafe type price like rm10 for one?

As for Keong Kee Bat Kut Teh at Pandan Indah, tar pau for dinner just now, one claypot for 1 person:rm8. They gave a lot of sup but not much ingredients. Pork nowadays is expensive.
Eat everywhere also nowadays, either the price have increase or if the hawker/restaurants didn't increase the price, then the portion will be smaller also.
That's cheap. Almost like those in foodcourts.
There's another bak kut teh in pandah indah, i think the name's 'top' or something, we always go there.

QUOTE(4everlove @ Oct 26 2008, 01:33 AM)
U mentioned Jeff place's crab rice is yummy and price average, is it standard cafe type price like rm10 for one?
*
I think it's around 10 bucks to 20 bucks. Can't remember.
But the portion is huge.
Overall the food there is cheap.

Any good recommendations?

Can be any food from curry fish head, dim sum, pan mee to chinese dining restaurants.

AFAIK, Connaught is famous for dim sum. Anymore?

How about nice Chinese Dining Restaurants?

I know about Jun Kee in Midah, Hou (Mouth) Kee in Taman Cheras, and the corner lot restaurant near the CIMB bank, Leisure Mall there (just directly opposite the old Kelana Seafood and ESSO and Petronas)

Any other good choices?

Vietnam Kitchen at Leisure Mall is nice, butter prawns is tasty (rm20 or 22), asked for the waitress's recommendation and she recommend a lemongrass fish fillet (rm20 or rm22), both dish really nice. Now got promotion, 10% discount using Citibank card. Will go again to try this same 2 dish and also other dishes. The salad beef also nice.

The satay at Satay Station at Bandar Permaisuri is big chunky meat. RM 1 each stick. Quite nice also.

Wong Hee is the former Island Red shoplot and not Lookout Point. Wong Hee has grown in size from the previous single intermediate lot somewhere else. Incidently Lookout Point also 'tapowed' already and the shop lot is empty now. They dismantled practically everything, even awnings etc. Anyway Lookout Point is nothing special when they don't have a nice view. Patrons go there more for the view in Ampang rather than the food. icon_rolleyes.gif

All Cheras Sek San,

HELP!! Back in 2010 I went to this open air seafood restaurant somewhere in Cheras.

It serves the BEST Sri Lanka Crabs with Thai chilli sauce. The chinese name has the world "pearl" in it? "Double pearl", or "phoenix pearl". I've desperately googled but to no avail. Only remember the signboard is white-background with Chinese Characters in Red Font.

*HELP*

Oh, is it near to carrefour?
If it is that one, it's just average for me. Nothing beats Subang nasi lemak. biggrin.gif

No somewhere near the Sekolah Yacob Latif.

Which nasi lemak in Subang is good? Any location?

There's one (Malay Nasi Lemak) in Kepong hawker which is quite good.

There's this new Yong Tau Foo place in Taman Connaught, just opposite the Tien Sun Tien Restaurant. You should be able to see their banner " Hometown Yong Tau Foo". It serves YTF & che cheung fun with Green curry. awesome stuff! Something new to try.
