Bro,
Bluetooth in Iphone cannot be used to transfer file. The only use of bluetooth in Iphone is only for handsfree sad.gif , so if you have any bluetooth handsfree, then you can use it with Iphone

Apple does not encourage file sharings, as you may see in iPod's plastic wrapping 'Don't Steal Music'. I hope that firmware 2.0 might come up with something that can boost the usage of Bluetooth. I'm not using any headset along with my iPhone, so my phone is like pretty much Bluetooth-less. tongue.gif

yeah at least it should enable the photo sharing.

mmm...but if that really happen, that means it will already have the ability to transfer files and music. maybe it will receive a rewritten bluetooth stack, but then Apple crippled its function for other file transfer. but then some hacker / developer add an app to enable that service. hehehe...

or maybe apple will not enhance the bluetooth function further (except for the handsfree part, or addition for stereo output)

If they really want to stop file sharing i.e. music then they can do it via software. No need to really crippled the bluetooth functionality especially pairing it with A2DP headsets or sharing photos. Luckily I don't rely much on bluetooth transfer or headsets.

Firmware 2.0 will have A2DP support according to various iPhone sites.

They should have implemented this since the beginning. Its not a new technology. They're just in a rush to put this phone to the public. In fact the bluetooth chip is capable of more feature thats not being use by apple.

I think in the end is about money Bro. They will ask people to bring the phone back and pay more for the new handset, most likely equipped with 3G also brows.gif

This is how apple earn a lot of money....

Well anggana ... its not about the money. The current iPhone is capable of doing so. Its just not being enable. Thats all. IMHO ... the iPhone software is not yet mature when they release it and that time they were really pushing the limit. This 1st gen iPhone is like a testbed for apple in getting into the mobile phone world. They even pull out some of the developer from leopard to work on the iPhone software. Thats why Leopard was delayed. Slowly its beginning to show its full potential with the coming firmware 2.0. We just need to be patient and wait for it to fully mature.

yup, that's what i mean. they can cripple it by software method (just like Apple crippled some PortalPlayer extension on the iPod lineup, which is done via software). not necessarily crippling the hardware.

Added on April 14, 2008, 7:01 pmbut what i really mean here is, if it got a rewritten bluetooth software stack and if Apple enables file transfer and filters the transfer of music file, theoretically the restriction can still being lifted. as long as it supports file transfer, some coders can circumvent it by enabling music transfer as the iPhone do photo transfer, unless if it use some standard protocols or involving some hardware method (maybe some chip?).

so, as it will involve more complex methods for Apple only to enable the photo transfer while restricting media files transfer, and preserving that rule without any restriction lifted (which is kinda relevant with Apple closed ecosystem), maybe Apple will not support photo transfer if the bluetooth got new software stack after all. most likely it will improve the headset profile, but not for file transfer. just my 2 cents.
