Hahaha, your friend must be really a clever student to use the internet connection in MMU Cyberjaya to download things.

I can tell you why your download is very very diffrent !!! Simple, MMU Cyberjaya internet speed is 16Mbps, currently being upgraded to 32Mbps. . Nice, right, Imagine you can have a 32Mbps connection ! Streamyx ? highest also available is 4mbps !!!

But MMU used OpenDNS so very unlikely you can use the speed because it block all downloading website, p2p and torrent even proxy !. So to get 400kB/s to download thing can be consider very lucky ad ! I am a MMU student, so i tried VPN and imagine what speed i get ? i was so happy 1.7mB/s !!! But only for a while before the OpenDNS start blocking again !

*Notice* if there are Any MMU Student out there, avoid downloading anything, you wont like to face the Information department officer if your are found out using internet illegally, trust me, it ear popping listening to lecture !

Added on September 3, 2008, 5:08 pmjust uninstall and reinstall ! that should fix it ! make sure you delete all the file in xunlei folder before reinstalling it.
I know that thunder.dll and most other .ddl in thunder folder is indeed very very hard to remove ! i used revo uninstaller which i make sure i delete all the file during uninstalling !

haha , haiz, now ppl in mmu suffer due to many blocking site ! especially when the IT class start, the speed drop to 50kbps. hahaha, sem break is happy season for me too

I wonder your frend is using 1mps the 1st place, 170kbps is indeed very very rare ! But most likely it because the data is coming at a higher rate than the xunlei is handling. Imagine pushing big bulk of water in to a small pipe, of course the speed increased !

Anyway, 101kps is quite normal for streamyx, mine oni 106kbps, not much different ! Just change your IP next time when u get lousy connection. Get a new set of IP.

Added on September 26, 2008, 2:59 amTat happen a lot of time, when u download a large size file like more than 8Gb perday, happen to me lot of time ad.

Mostly it happen because TMnet prevent ppl to download to many file perday ! Most of the time it not your modem or pc is the problem ! Streamyx is the black sheep

My suggestion, restart your modem, clean your dns cache and eveything, then use the second fastest downloader Flashget ! After a while, then start using xunlei again ! Work for me Otherway is to use the " Low ya " modem provide by streamyx which enable you to connect back again
