Dear all MTG veterans/fans,

I just entered the working world and is looking around for a hobby as a mean to destress. I am hoping to find an interesting, challenging and fun hobby and at the same time, meet up with lots of new people. MTG comes to my mind. Actually I heard of this game for many years now but never seriously consider starting it. I used to play a lot of pokemon TCG during my secondary school days and am now looking into the possibility of making a start in MTG.

The thing is, the game is so massive and huge that i don't know where to begin with. I googled and read lots of articles but im not sure if this is the right hobby for me. Besides, I am worried that this hobby may continously burn a hole in my wallet (which is bad )

So can anyone share their experience as to why they pick up and stay with MTG in the first place? and roughly how much they spend a month on it?

When you say competitive, how much does one spend monthly? (i mean, reasonably competitive).
