Hi I'm new here. Just want to know if cards from the 4th edition are still playable agains the newer series? Are they too weak agains the newer cards?

Hi, I've not been playing MTG for many years now.
Are the old cards still compatible with the newer ones? I'm talking about cards from Ice age, 4th ed, etc... |
