basket.. Tiesto and Ferry Corsten 2 Day beachside Rave at Port Dickson over that weekend. Sigh..

Bravo company is filled with members who don't take the game very seriously haha, so I don't know if we are joining at the moment yet (although we have a few keen members). We MIGHT recruit from the Tbun list if it comes to it..

I haven't decided yet if I'm in or out. rave or cod4.. rave or cod4! argh

Hi guys, been awhile since I last posted.

Been getting super rusty at COD4 ever since I upgraded my PC and have been playing other FPS games at home haha.. Bioshock, Crysis, and now FEAR Perseus Mandate..
Keep wanting to do stuff like 'loot bodies', switch to my plasmids, go stealth mode, and activate 'bullet time' lol..

Bravo just submitted a team late last night, but I'm not in it. Not sure if I am free that morning also or not - will either be at Tiesto or at work.

and yes Ashley, you are right in saying that single elimination is NOT a good idea for a first tourney. Lots of beginners & non clan players here, and will be very discouraging for them to get paired up with a good team and get whooped after 45 mins and kicked out - and RM10 per person at that :S

Besides that, all other regulations seems fair nuff smile.gif

I remembered asking ICA if they were joining the tourney, they said Yes. Also, Bravo matched up vs a team called 'Dream' 1-2 weeks ago, don't know if they joined already or not either.. just to let you know.

it's about money .... renting the cc need money, prize for the winner, need money,

if the tournament take long hours, n have to continue later tomorrow then, another expenses money to throw in ....

n how much did u guys of 32 team paid ... 32 x 50 = 1600 only. that's only enough to cover for the first prize ..

so, y u guys whinning ... about single elimination. u lose, u got out. u win, then bravo, u the champion.

guys u should feel in the organizer shoe, u think it's easy to get a sponsor ... baka. it's so sad story ...

plz, feel greatful and don be selfish about urself .... at least, COD4 got tournament, rather other games don have any tournament at all ...
to king kong ... thanx for making this tournament alive ...

Hi evilme, I definitely did factor that in. It's not about being selfish, and I'm not accusing the organizer of anything either.

I once almost opened a cybercafe and I've done the P&L and ROI plans for it. If anything, its in any cybercafe's best interest to organize tournaments, EVEN if they don't generate revenue from the entry fees.

Reason being, not 100% of a cafe's PCs are occupied over the weekend mornings and afternoons. Promoting the outlet through a tournament, a popular game, and generating hype + not to mention the countless practice sessions leading to it more than makes up for the slight loss in revenue on that day itself.

Just look at how Air Asia has capitalized on this similar business concept. Empty cybercafe seats ain't gonna net you anything to begin with - the PCs are still turned on, overheads are still running. Heck, if it was up to me to run a cafe, I'd offer limited free seats during nonpeak hours just to fill the cafe up. So don't just think in the $ sense.

Discouraging prospective gamers in the first clan based COD4 tournament in Malaysia will have bad repercussions for the future of COD4 in cybercafes that play them a lot like Tbun later on. Hence we are trying to be constructive here, and try to see if there is a win win scenario instead of accusing each other of whining (which we arent). I've got nothing to gain from this since I'm not even joining to start with.

It's true a league based system will definitely take too long. The tournament should still proceed elimination style, but allowing some sort of a loser based 2nd round may help.. a separate knockout tree for teams that were knocked out of the 1st round main tourney.

lewi : yeah, that's the DREAM team I was referring too.. I heard they were from KL actually, dropping by the cafe to see the COD4 scene here. They were impressed at the number of COD4 players here (they were in a 30 player TDM).

holyboy : yup, everything's cool hehe - just that slacking on COD4 recently hehe..

SWL.... Sharks With Lasers.... lol.... wha-da  name.... HAhahahah I bet u all use red dots? All those 'Freakin Laser Beams'? lol

Yes Yes YEs!! more support from the CoD4 community pls! I want CoD4 to knock out CS. tongue.gif Which also means the era of more advanced computers.. CS doesnt require much of a PC to run it but CoD4 on the otherhand... thats what u call... New Era... rite King? lol tongue.gif

alright boys, lets chill... evilme I get the picture. You just want to be happy with what you have. Everybody should and we pretty much are at the moment cause its all we can get.

Pryde... heeeyy... free play during non-peek hours.. now thats an idea! lol

*
Lol Ashley.. wait till you hear my proposal for a dynamic scaled pricing system based on how 'full' the cafe is at any particular hour.. tongue.gif

+ Lots more marketing ideas in my head, but nevermind tongue.gif

At the end of the day, manpower + time is the thing thats insufficient.

.Ashley,Apr 25 2008, 05:16 PM]lol echo. welcome and who are ya?

yeah.. scaling by the amount of PCs being used.... thats going to be really... tedious... too much variables..

not if its automated.

but then, i dont think theres a cybercafe payment system with such a function

*hint hint programmers out there - business opportunity*

but it all boils down to how the concept is marketed to customers at the end of the day i guess..

The problem is getting people to understand how the prices work which isn't a standard rate of RM 2 per hour of something. Working on the formula itself is easy. What you could possibly do is have a electronic signboard behind the counter which tells the 'current' price based on the percentage of PCs used at any given time lar.

We're all way off topic. =(

Yup.. hehe... your suggestion sounds workable actually, but the marketing has to be good.

Wow.. imagine a cafe that operates along the same lines as budget air travel.

"Now everyone can Game! PC rates from as low as RM0.00 per hour!"

and yeah, we are way off topic haha...

what in the world was all that laser shark + SWL about anyway tongue.gif
