The information & packages on P1 is still mainly on WiFi. No info on WiMax packages yet. If you click on the map, you'll see a very small coverage area per dot. (Don't you think WiMax will cover a larger area per transmitter ?)

I'm rather worried about this trial users thing and the way they are handling the information. You see, they took a photocopy of my IC but I never heard from them since.
I feel like lodging an official complaint to them and to MCMC for abuse of personal information. |

No they did not give the modem on the spot. When I got there, they said they ran out of modems but they took my particulars. (and a copy of my IC)
Then they told me that I'll be contacted 3 days from then and will be given the modem. That's the last thing I heard from them. This post has been edited by hye: Jul 22 2008, 10:59 PM |

QUOTE(etsuko @ Jul 23 2008, 06:11 PM) Hmm...so you're saying the promoter or PIC said they'll contact you within 3 days but haven't done so from the date you registered? Why not try calling them and see? The fact that they took a copy of my IC and asked me to sign an NDA for nothing - I don't take it very lightly. God knows what could have happened to my IC that they copied and the notion it could be used with criminal intent is alarming. Under no circumstances would I give my a copy IC except to a financial institution where they have internal processes which protects customers privacy and information.Anyone else with a similar problem as this? I don't intend to wait and find out weeks or months later that the copy of my IC has been used to (possibly) illegally register a mobile line, take up a car or housing loan or even register for a new credit card. Call me overreacting but I have the right to protect my personal information because it is me who has to bear the consequences - not anyone else. P1 ? I don't think so such is in place. Thus I'm contemplating reporting this incident to MCMC (or even the police) to protect myself in the event that criminal act is used with the copy of my IC. I don't see the point to call them up - they should be more responsible with my personal and confidential information in the first place. Else don't bother to ask a copy of my IC and tell me upfront that I don't qualify for the trial. |

QUOTE(p4n6 @ Jul 23 2008, 10:18 PM) You are right you should be responsible of your own identity, but you should think first before handing them the photocopy ic not after. Well ... I did not have a choice about the IC part if I wanted to be a trial user, did I? (BTW ... the IC was crossed but I'm lamenting the way the document is being handled. And I never mentioned whether I have taken action or not )If you are concern, you should go and report it as soon as possible. I see you posting here since yesterday but still not yet take the necessary action. And I wanted to give it a few more days just in case they really did came back. I'm not using the forum as an outlet but as a awareness so people here will be more careful. Anyway, I'll stop posting here either way to avoid unnecessary comments - leave it for the guys here to debate on the subject. This post has been edited by hye: Jul 24 2008, 02:49 AM |

Despite all the hype surrounding W1Max service, I think they would offer ongoing promotions because I felt that the current launch is severely limited (due to the limited coverage areas & the limitation for high rise customers) and the actual demand for the service would remains untapped for a while.
Mobile users would probably be more interested in the USB modem but i think W1max would priced this service slightly higher (when launched) given it's attractiveness in terms of mobility factor. Given that aspect, possibly the current HSDPA services offered by the mobile telcos will still remain attractive. I'm rather against the RM100 installation fees as I think it's being made to partly pay the channel partners (read W1Max agents) to market the product. Don't you realize that's why you are asked to pay an upfront of RM100 when you register and the rest will be charged to the bill ? The money can be used to pay off at least 1 month subscription. And what about the lack of information on the T&C and plenty of other information? That can be scary and it appears that W1max did not put this into much thought prior to the service launch. Try this - call the CS and ask - Can you change your current modem to the USB modem? - When will be be launched ? - Would I be charged for the conversion and how much ? You'll find some of the answers to be very vague. Come on P1, customers are much more sophisticated nowadays ! If you want to treat them like a small child - you'll find that eventually people will just walk out on you. Just my 2 cents. |
