wat de surprise??Price tag as rm1399????
*
not surprising since in UAE, some people bought it for about 1400 dirhams .
dirham is more or less like ringgit value, a bit cheaper than ringgit i guess.

i think the guy bought 5800 in indonesia when the rupiah is below rm300 per 1 million rupiah... but rupiah suddenly went up this past few days..
i'm going to padang-bukit tinggi next week...
it's not a big city i guess..so not sure the phone is available or not there...
by the way end of january i'm going to jakarta, hopefully rupiah dip below rm300 per 1m again by that time and i might buy the phone in indonesia if it's cheaper after conversion

apparently they said SG QC is better. lol i am not sure about that.

do you think nokia has phone factory for each country?? laugh.gif laugh.gif
if i'm not mistaken all nokia phones from this region are made in china....in short they are from the same source.
it's not that nokia singapore manufactured phones on their own.

wow! shocking.gif Tats even cheaper than wat the traders here at this forum are offering. its not even a HK set, which i think the manuals and stuff in the box would be in english rather than chinese.
mind telling whr is this particular stall? which floor? wat position? near whr? look like wat? thanks.. biggrin.gif
*
mobile phone floor..in the middle area of celcom/bluecube entrance...
other shops quote me at least rm1600

can anyone help me.. i'm currently using k810i, thinkin of buyin a touch phone as a 2nd phone.. btween samsung omnia n nokia 5800... which is better? or any other suggestion of touch phone models? i want a complete-function phone with minimal problem.. my budget is less than rm3k.. thanx in advance..
*
i think samsung omnia is in different price bracket and category?
5800 more or less like a toy phone..not on the same league as omnia
but afterall it depends on the functions that you need in a phone and also your budget limit

Uhh, not wanting to sound like a fanboi, I'd say for a 1.5k (AP) toy phone, it has a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle bit more substance underneath all that hype than you'd think... sweat.gif

I'd like to think of it as the 2nd, more feature packed reincarnation of the Original HTC Touch - a cheap touch phone for the masses (minus WinMo, that is... brows.gif )... biggrin.gif

Besides, the Omnia / Innov8 / Iphone3G / X1 / Touch HD are all for different target markets, non?

As for me, I like my cheapo smartphone wannabe to be:

1) Able to do the mobile WIFI groove (read: surf the net wherever I need it to)
2) NOT too HUGE.
3) Have a flexible OS that can handle at least a few useful 3rd party apps.
4) NOT too expensive (read: expandable and replacable)
5) Play me my music!
6) Play me my anime (the reason why I skipped the original Touch and got an Axim instead)!
7) NOT die too soon (read: reasonable battery)

And as such, only the 5800 XM fits the bill for ME (for NOW at least)... biggrin.gif

For everyone else, what do YOU want your phone to do? Soul-searchin time, guys... brows.gif
*
my phone specs is the same as yours...
i'm contemplating to sell my ipod touch 2G and an underutilise camera lens to fund this phone laugh.gif laugh.gif
if i bought this phone, my ipod will be redundant since all the features that i wanted in ipod already in 5800 and i don't have to carry 2 things in my pocket cool.gif

hey, i just went out to survey nokia 5800.. its around rm16++ here, but i get a some shocking news from 3 dealers(incuding nokia outlet), they all said that the original set will be around rm24++, is that true? the differences will be rm1000
*
of course it's a total bullshit..
even some AP in KL will quote you rm2.2K laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
it's ridiculous when other shops can sell the same set at around rm1450-rm1600++

The 5800 is not that fast. Th CPu finds it hard to cope up with the screen, plus no 3D accelerator
*
if compared to ipod touch, yes it's slower and not that smooth.
it may rectify in latest firmware.

with that pricing it wont be an exclusive phone as i bet everyone will afford to upgrade their phone to this phone
*
it's never intended to be an exclusive phone since it's not a high end nokia phone.
Nokia N97 is the one.

Agreed... The thing is, AP phones DO NOT cover the screen as well as Ori phones do, in terms of warranty... biggrin.gif

And it's a FULL TOUCH phone... If the screen dies... sweat.gif

If you're lucky, then, no problem lar... If not... sweat.gif
*
i'm not sure whether the shop where i bought bluff me or not, but the screen got 1 year warranty..others got 2 years warranty, not including accessories like battery etc la
