If u cant even know how to focus, i suggest u to keep ur dslr n move back to pns or go to a prosummer, like canon S5. Focusing is one of the essential skills for photography mate.

One thing Prosumers can never teach you effectively is the use of customized AF and MF, due to the controls, and the fact you're dealing with a much larger sensor and thus a large DOF.
TIP to TS : Learn to select the focus points individually and practice on small objects like pencils and stuff. Also learn to read the flashing red focus points, they generally tell you 2 things, the location of the focusing area, and the general plane of focus.
