is the lens fast enough for portrait?

although, i like your flickr shots titled "Bokehness", "ciernteoh8" and "ciern15",

i think its the matter of the photographer's ability to make use of his available tools to capture, the gears only contribute a small percentage.

although at that focal length, the background gets compressed too much, a tighter shot would look better IMO.

coz the ori one, i feel there's too much background ie, trees etc.
in fact, i prefer the landscape orientation more than the portrait one in this case. its all up to individuals in the end anyway.
