Since you are already commited RM1k/month, why not take the asb loan than?
Looking at the MBB repayment table, for current BLR rate, and assume same BLR for 20 years, for RM995 per month you can get a RM155k.

Say asb divident is 7% a year:

save RM995/month for 20 years
asb value at year 20: RM508,045
Total investment= RM995*20*12= RM238,800
Dividend: 508,045-238,800=RM268,245

Put RM155k on ASB, and continue paying banks at RM955
asb value at year 20: RM599,801
Total payment to bank: RM995*20*12= RM238,800
Dividend: RM361,001
*
you can only invest up to 200k for asb

Looking at the divident now its impossible to get 100k for 5 years.. (5 years of 6.75% only get u a cumulative divident of 77k only)

let say i pay 1,200 per month for 5 years (200k loan maybank)
RM1,200 x 60 = RM 72,000 (to the bank)
divident 6.75 for 5 years (prediction) divident accumulated = RM 77,247

Profit of loan for 5 years: RM 77,247 - 72,000 = RM 5,247  hmm.gif

is it worth it? icon_question.gif

probably not for 5 years, but around 10years+

Guys, one question that I need to ask.

Currently I need some emergency money that I Want to withdraw some money from my asb account. The money is my personal investment not from the loan.
Question is, will it affect much my dividend calculation at the end of the year?
*
sure, div at the end of the year will be based on your jan - dec monthly balance.
for eg, if you had 100k in since jan then at the end of the year at 7% interest it would be 7000rm or 583.33 per month.(if no withdrawal)

if you took out 50k in oct, then for oct - dec the div would be 291.67 for those months. so in the end you would only get 6125rm at the end of the year.

*these are extremely rough calc. doesnt take into account actual rates, bonus, cutoff dates for calculation.

I am still trying to figure the bolded parts. Even the bankers and my managers friends are not too clear about this. For MBB and OCBC, the announce is quite clear, that the interests will accrue, but they wont accrue interests on the accrued interest

RHB has been sending my clients to pay on the 31st March, then likely you won't have to pay onwards. Unfortunately my function is up to the sales side, I have the same access to information as to any RHB (or other banks) customers regarding this.

i got an unfinished asb loan for my wife, is it better to just pay as normal or take up the deferment?
