Hi everyone,
I signed up for asb loan from cimb months ago. Is there a way that I could pay my asb monthly repayment through maybank2u? I don't own a cimb account so it's a bit hassle to go to cdm.

Hi All,

I signed up for ASB loan around 3 months ago, and now I think I need to cancel because I am having difficulties to pay every month (money problem). I haven't missed any payment so far and if I wish to cancel, will they charge me any penalty fees and do I get back what I paid so far?

Need to know which bank u took ASB loan. for mine one with CIMB it can be terminate anytime because no lock period. You will get your dividend for 3 months you serve the asb loan. Plus with the principal for 3 months.

It is with CIMB. Yes last time I signed up, I think the officer were saying about the no lock period. So meaning that whatever it is I still can get back the amount I paid? Will the cancellation process be easy?

Don't miss understanding with it because monthly installment consist of principal + interest.

Let say ur monthly commitment 300.
3 months - 900
So ur SV (principal) will be less than 900.

I see. From my understanding, usually in the beginning we pay more interest than SV right? I don't really know the calculation, but let say my monthly commitment is 300. So interest is around 250+, for 3 months, I might get back less than 150? Is this right?

Hi yes u can check for your dividend and asb statement but not your loan statement. Yes just need to update your phone no at nearest branches. You also can update your phone by email to asnb if not mistaken.

Can I also ask one more thing if you don’t mind - if I’m going to take out the dividens, do I need to bring the book with me? First time asb loaner here so pls bear with me hehe

Anyone know how much you'll get when you terminate the loan? Last month I terminated my 65k loan for 3 years, and today only RM700 is deposited into my account. I feel like something not right here.

I think there was insurance/takaful for full tenure attached to your asb loan, thus your principal payment for the first few years are used to clear the insurance premium. If it was a yes, then the amount you get is logical.

And of course the dividend accumulated from your 3 years are still in your asb account, this doesn't automatically deposited in your bank account, you have to withdraw it manually at any bank or asb counter.

Okay so my loan period is 30 years with ir of 5.30%. I checked the amortization schedule using one of the calculator online and at 36 months, my balance is at RM63052. So 65k - 63052 = 1948. Is my calculation correct here? If so, then it doesn't make sense that I received only RM700 back.

But maybe what @lotter92 was saying above could provide some explanation to it. Yes I did have takaful attached to my loan but how do I check for this? Do I need to call the bank and check?
