Im using PB credit card to do my paypal transaction. Yes, they will automatically convert for u. The rate of conversion depends on market but definitely be lower than wat u can get from money changer.

i buy lots of stuff from overseas. When u link ur credit card to paypal, means u use the fund in your credit card..no need to transfer credit to paypal whatsoever.

lets say u buy stuff USD10. then ur credit card will be charged USD10 lor . it will convert automatically ; following the daily currency rate.

usually no charges to pay using paypal. But if you RECEIVE money through paypal (letsay u open online shop & and people pay u thru paypal) , u will be charged around 5% of the total transaction value. So, u will kena deduct 5% of the amount lorr

i think almost any credit card can be linked to paypal..mine is maybank..
but if you intend to withdraw funds from paypal at ATM machine using your credit card (charges apply), only VISA is accepted.

hope this helps! icon_idea.gif

TS, borrow ur thread k, coz my prob oso regarding buying items frm oversea using paypal.

If the auctioner states in his/her auction that the item will only be delivered to paypal registered address, does it mean the address must be the same as CC address? As we know we can put up to 31 address in our paypal acc, so need clarification on this coz i put 2 address there and the address that i select as my home address is different frm CC address.

Thanks in advance.

Credit card sure no problem... If you make a payment, u wont kena any charges
If you make payment USD. then the bank will auto do the currency exchange.. u nonid wory it

If you make payment when your paypal account is no balance, it wil directly deduct from your credit card..... So, mostly your paypal account wont have any balance.

Dont wory of transaction ammount, i even transaction 0.16cent usd before

The code is Paypal's debit of your Virtual CC. What happens is that the paypal transaction on the VCC has a 4-digit code next to it.

"Payments funded by" means if your Paypal has ZERO balance, and you use your Credit Card to initiate payment through paypal, then this warning above served its purpose

If you have funds in your paypal, there is only a limit to the amount in which the recipient can accept.

If the recipient is a seller, it is his burden to ensure he gets his funds, not you.

By the way, do you even know the actual procedure to get a business/premium account in Paypal?
What is so difficult to get yourself verified and apply for a business account? Its just a few clicks away!

As for paying via credit card, when you are sent a bill issued by the seller via Paypal, just select pay and choose the credit card option and fill in the details.

Correct.

You can select from your primary or secondary CC details. FX charges apply (which is never in your favour)

Basically it will charge USD100 only. What the FX means is Foreign Exchange rate.
Means when convert back to RM, it might be higher or lower.

Example,
if the Exchange Rate = 3.6 you need to pay RM360
if the Exchange Rate = 3.3 you need to pay RM330

Hope this help.

Malaysian credit card will add extra transaction charge on top of all foreign transaction. The charge ranges from 0 to 2% and it's incorporated into the final figure so you don't realize it.

For example. Visa FX rate is 1 USD= RM3.60
You buy product for USD100. Visa will charge your bank RM360
But AFAIK you bank,
CIMB DA will charge you RM360
PBB/SCB/HSBC will charge you RM363.60
EON will charge you RM367.20

You can do unlimited transaction/day but there is a limit on sending money/day.
5 times transaction/years is refer to accepting CC payment.
While accepting PP balance is unlimited/year
No need to upgrade to premier account coz you can have 2 PP account 1 for personal used and 1 for biz purposes

Hi jz started using paypal to do online purchase recently.

1. May i know why is the paypal US currency is so high, USD1=RM3.7 whereas the actual exchange rate is only ard RM2.5 now adays?

2. Why there are some users manage to sell their paypal USD at a lower rate, i.e. ard RM3.5. How do they do that? How does it work?

3. How to make business/save money by playing around with the currency exchange on paypal?

Thanks.

USD/RM is 3.60 right now, where got 2.5? Ten years plus ago, before 1997 crisis, USD/RM indeed was 2.50.

Im using PB credit card to do my paypal transaction. Yes, they will automatically convert for u. The rate of conversion depends on market but definitely be lower than wat u can get from money changer.
*
In my case, i used paypal yesterday. It immediately converted into RM when i made the transaction. The rate i got was RM3.7=USD1. The rate is more expensive than doing the exchange cause just checked RM3.62. How ar?

I would also like to know how to buy the paypal credit at a lower rate to save money. As i saw many of our lawyaties selling paypal credit at a lower rate. Wondering how to save money.

Hi Asus,
Why u need to add fund to your paypal account first? If you just want to purchase goods & services from the net and they offer paypal payment,u can directly charge your credit card from there.Hope this help.
*
If U buy funds from other paypal members who have funds to sell, it is cheaper than charging to your CC.

I create my paypal 5 days ago, i link with my credit card and completed the expuse 4 digit. The problem, when i want to make payment to rapidshare. I receieve "You have reached a limit on your ability to send money. Please link and confirm a debit or credit card to lift this limit."

I've contact paypal, here what they say:

I fully understand your concern regarding the denied payments.

There is nothing wrong with your credit card and your PayPal account is
working pretty so fine. Also, there is no sending limit on your account,
the error message indicates that your credit card's sending ability
reached a limit. Please just ignore it.

Now please let me explain the reasons to you.

To ensure the integrity of our network, PayPal may take security
measures, which may affect some accounts in good standing. We regret any
inconvenience may have caused.

PayPal employs complex statistical models to identify patterns of
behavior. This is similar to the way banks and credit card companies
identify patterns of behavior those are abnormal when verifying
individual transactions. When our system rejects a certain funding
source for a transaction, it is merely an indication that the individual
transaction fits a pattern may cause a high risk of failure.

If your transaction has been denied, you may be able to complete the
transaction with another funding source such as U.S. bank account or
PayPal balance.

Here are some choices I offer to you, wish can help you:
a. Or to use the same card in a later time. (24-48 Hours Later)
b. Or to add another credit card to fund the payment.
c. Or to use your PayPal balance if available
d. Or to explain to the seller and negotiate with him/her and hope
he/she could understand you.

Also, would you mind try in this way to make payment?
a. Log in to your account at https://www.paypal.com/.
b. Click the "Send Money" tab.
c. Choose "Send Money Online" or "Pay for eBay items."
If you choose Send Money Online, enter the requested information.
If you choose Pay for eBay items, click "Pay" in the Action column.
d. Click "Continue."
e. Review your payment details including the payment method. Click "More
Funding Options" to make any changes.
f. Review your shipping information and add a message to the recipient,
(optional).
g. Click "Send Money" or "Pay." To change any information, click Change
or Edit. Note: If you edit your payment details, your payment method
will return to the default method of payment.

I hope the above explanation would be helpful for you to better use
PayPal and wish you can successfully make the payment.

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing PayPal.

Sincerely,
Fion

Thanks for the reply.

1. I did a transaction on Friday and it was something like 3.7. Is it true that the paypal exchange rate is lower than the money changer? As i realise even the rate offered by them on fri is still lower than paypal.

2. So apart from selling or internal connection, there is no way that we individual could get Paypal credit at a lower rate?

Thanks

2. No way. You need to have internal connections. This is why I don't trust people who are selling paypal funds , unless they have a good record and a long time account (i.e from 2004-2005). Otherwise I'll be not buying funds from them

can i assume that in such event, you rather pay a bit more expensive to make the payment directly? What is 1.08? As this was charged into my transaction, say example, 1000Yuan * 1.08.

Hi, I have read through all the posting here, can I conclude:

1.opening an account(Personal,Premier,Business) in PayPal will not need any setup fee like iPay88. So PayPal is zero setup fee.

2. Some transaction charges will be counted on the seller according to the account type they subscribe...

Thank you!

Dear,

I'm new to payment gateway over the internet...

After i read this thread, I found that paypal is very convenient and it does not require setup fee as well.

Wondering why people still go for other payment gateway like ipay88 or netbuilder?

PayPal is good for international customers. However Malaysia consumers are generally viewed negatively due to high percentage of fraudulent transactions originated from Malaysia and/or using Malaysia credit cards. Therefore some of Malaysia customers may not able to use PayPal for payment. If you want to accept MYR payment and/or have more Malaysia-based customers, then you need a payment gateway more 'friendly' to MYR and/or Malaysia-based customers.

Do you mean the VCC that some Lowyat-kians offer?
I've tried it before and the VCC can only last for 4 months.
Unless you prefer to verified it using credit/debit card... laugh.gif

No charge for the buyer but there is charge for the seller. Normally seller integrate their items with this service charge.

You can withdraw money back to your card or so but it will charge you something. Its usually no charge to put something in, but when paying USD to paypal, paypal always uses the crappiest rate so that they earn on your transaction as well.

In order to send money to a forumer in Singapore (ordered customised arcade stick from him), i just created a paypal account few days ago, and get my account verified today (using PB visa), and i have this error message when trying to send money to his paypal account (email address)

"You have exceeded your per transaction limit. To lift this limit, click View Limits on you Account Overview page."

What is the problem here ?I thought there is no limit after get verified ? Yes, my limit is zero, but it should debit my CC if i have zero balance in Paypal right ?

And i just send US 158.73 only, my CC limit is more than that for sure.

update: Upgraded to Premium account today, still the same error message icon_question.gif

Update: Found the answer already, I can send max 99USD per transactions only. So, i have to break 158.73 into 2 transactions.. doh.gif

once u found the seller did not send you item and you should immediately lodge a report to paypal (open dispute)

Paypal will try to hold the fund in your seller acc. However if you seller has withdrawn the fund and the chance is likely low for you to take back.

I don't think paypal is doing good in protecting consumer right as they are only a merchant not a marketplace.

But if the seller is from ebay and you can try to open dispute with ebay too

good luck!

If I not wrong, normally it around 5% higher than interbank exchange rate on that day. The best is put on extra money in your debit card. No harm.

Paying with paypal ensures a better protection to consumers rather a straight TT to a stranger's account. At least you can lodge a dispute should the need arises compared to straight TT. biggrin.gif

Then it is better for you to check out the company's profile and background. Do some search at google and search for people's feedbacks on public forums.

If you have been deal many times with them and all the transaction is smooth, then you can use TT. If you want secured service, suggested pay them a service fee to avoid loss of your money .

Someone pls help.. notworthy.gif

I've recently registered for Paypal & successfully made payment to a seller in US. Is it necessary for me to link my credit/debit cards if I'm not planning to use Paypal anymore?

Just to double confirm, do I need to top-up my Paypal fund if I want all my transactions charged to my credit card? Btw, how to check my Paypal balance and how to top-up the fund?

Thank you! notworthy.gif

Well, this is just my opinion lah since you only want to use paypal once, then you'll no need to link your debit/credit card. Just to be safe, you can use VCC (which will only last for 4 months), so that your transaction for receiving & transferring funds are not limited... nod.gif

You can check your pp blance at [My Account] in the paypal site. I'm not sure about credit/debit card though...

It means Virtual Credit Card.
You can find it in Lowyat Garage sales forum...

If you're unsure to use real credit/debit card for verifying, can use VCC for your 1st try.

Hi, First of all, I am a new user of Paypal. I would like to get some answer from you guys if you are willing to share your experience.

I am having 190USD in my paypal acc. Is it worth withdrawing to the credit card or selling off in forum like what many member doing? Why are there so many people selling off like this? (I know withdrawal will charge USD5 but i do not know the exchange rate paypal is offering tho...3.5?)

After withdraw to credit card what will happen to the next credit card bill? Will it automatic pay for next bill or what?

Thank you in advance.

There is a charge for withdrawing the money, you'll lose some of it. But I find paypal offers a crappy rate most of the time and withdrawing the money to the credit card is better to have rather than not have. It just sits in your paypal and does nothing unless you find you want to buy something again. Before you send the money to your card, it should show you exactly how much it costs you to send it to your CC.

When we withdraw our Money from Paypal. Paypal will swap your USD become RM before it sends to our Credit Card.

I wish to know, what is the rate offered by Paypal and how can I check it?

I know normally we could check the daily exchange rates in Banks Website, but how about this Paypal?

For Malaysian, we can just leave the "middle name" field blank. For Chinese with pure Chinese name, for example Lee Laa Luu, Laa Luu as your "first name" and "Lee" as your "last name".

If you're a Chinese with English name, for example Adam Lee Laa Luu. Please put Laa Luu as your "first name" and Adam Lee as your "last name".

Not all debit card will work. To withdraw paypal fund, only visa card will work. It can be from any bank as long as your bank support it. I am using Maybank cherry visa debit now.

Paypal will convert the USD to RM for you, before transferring.

The easiest way without complicating your mind sure you'll have to use VCC. VCC stands for virtual credit card. You can look up for the VCC seller in LYN market section though, and they can tell it more in detail, but mind you... VCC lasted for 4 months. Unless you willing to stand using vcc, it's a good choice actually. brows.gif

Everyone keep on mentioning Maybank Cherry VISA Debit because the card has cherry design on it.

Not all debit card will work. To withdraw paypal fund, only visa card will work. It can be from any bank as long as your bank support it. I am using Maybank cherry visa debit now.

Paypal will convert the USD to RM for you, before transferring.

Well I have tried with Maybankard Visa Debit too...and its not working (same with Standard Chartered Bank Mastercard Debit)...
Do i need to do the Maybankard Secure Online Shopping Registerion at Utilities Option in Maybank2u website? What is it actually?

according to one forumer here, she got it after approx 24 hrs. Rule of thumb is, if u still don't see on the website after 3 working days, contact the Bank.

I just registered my Paypal account today. I have some questions here:

1. I'm not verified yet as I don't have a credit card and I have zero balance in PP. Mine is personal account. If I were to buy funds from LYN forumers, boleh ke tak?
2. Once I have the funds in PP, can I use it to buy stuff eventhough I'm not verified with credit card?

Please help, very much appreciated. I've read a lot here, but pening already. Thank you notworthy.gif

1. I'm not sure about this though but I think there will be a certain amount of limit that can be done per transaction. Let say, not more than $50 or something. I think you can buy the funds but when you want to make payment/send funds to seller, you will be stuck with limited transaction. Besides, if you're buying things from overseas, I think the overseas seller prefer verified PP.

2. I think you should verified your paypal since if you want to do any transaction, paypal will limit some of the transaction (eg, certain amount that can be send & received). If you don't have CC, you can always try VCC. Or apply for any debit card as well.

Well, that is just my opinion. Hope this helps sweat.gif

There's no charge to open a PayPal account and to transfer money from your bank account to your PayPal account.

There are fees in other cases, such as:

Receiving payment for goods and services.
Receiving payments from friends and family made using a debit or credit card.
Receiving a payment from someone in another country.

My account is a verified personal account, a couple of months ago paypal has limited access my account due to too many activity in a day. I have registered my credit card to paypal. They are asking me to submit the utilitiy bills (to verify address), Bank account number (which i don't have US bank account number), invoices (where i 'bought' USD from other seller).

By the way, I'm staying in Malaysia. Anything that I can do to solve this?

Did Paypal specifically say you need to have a US bank account, or any bank accounts in Malaysia?

Perhaps you could question them on the need to require a US bank account in the first place?

No interest

just withdraw into your credit card or debit card account.

Usually its debit card because you can cash it out via ATM.

by default, you will use available fund first, if not sufficient then it will get the money from your debit card.

I think you send the money to unverified paypal account. The account owner have to click accept money button then the status will change.

Question: Last time when I tried to pay by using Paypal for the 1st time, I was redirected to a page asking me to change the password and select two questions to remind me of it.

This happened after I click on 'Checkout with Paypal' at that shopping site.
I didn't proceed the transaction because I've been suspicious.
What happened actually? hmm.gif

It's normal as the paypal need to tighten their security on your account. I have encounter this before and after I had changed my password, then things turn back normal again. nod.gif

Oh yeah, I just want to give thanks to those who shared their method and experienced in verifying using MBB Debit Card.
Finally, I'll have no worries for VCC anymore. I feel much more better after verify my paypal with MBB debit card. brows.gif

Just try to look back for your shopping page. I guess maybe the paypal page needs "refresh". Once you had found the page again, just check-out normally. May I know which web that you tried on your pp?

It's quite simple actually. Have you obtained the card yet?
If yes, then the next step is to register for Maybank2U. Even though you might have register one before, but since you'll different number on your card, then you'll have to register again as the numbers on your old card is not working anymore.

After you log-in MBB2U, in your account page, please look up under [Utilities] for [Maybankard Secure Online Shopping Registration].

From there, key in your MBB debit card details. You'll be notify once you had it register successfully. thumbup.gif

After you register your debit card under this secure online shopping registration, then you'll be able to link your debit card to your paypal.

Good luck in trying out these steps ya~ icon_rolleyes.gif

I have a question here, can I send money for purchasing goods by charging my cc? My paypal balance is 1.95USD. Everytime I try to send money paypal will ask me to add funds. If I can't pay with cc or add funds to paypal, what's the point of using it here?

if you have successfully link your CC to paypal (EXPUSE NO ENTERED), you can pay your purchase with that credit card but if you have paypal balance, the balance is the first priority than only they take the money from CC.

My cc is verified with premier account. I'm not paying for ebay items but trying to use "send money online"--->"online purchases"--->"this is a purchases of goods". Everytime I click continue I get this "Sorry, your payment won't go through. To make it work, you'll need to add money to your account and pay with your PayPal balance." I can't even choose the option to pay or is there a way to change it manually? Thanks!

Added on October 10, 2009, 3:54 pmI found the funding options when I get money request but I got this when I click it - "Credit Card - This payment cannot be funded with a credit card." Does this mean I can only use cc for ebay items?

I think I know what is your problem. I believe you paypal account is new with verified credit card. And you want to transfer large sum of money. Try again with small amount of money & see what going to happen.

Tell us whether you succeed or not.

My account is not new but I've just verified my card. I had to email them just to get back the verification fees but they never solve my problem. I tried sending with smaller amount but still get the same problem. It's really frustrating..maybe I should keep email them until I get a solution.

Well, its really strange. Do you tried something like $100 or less to see if it works?

What card are you using? You have another credit/debit card to try?

One more thing you can check is to check "Manage Funding Sources" page. Do you credit card selected?

To access Manage Funding Sources" page, go here

Profiles -> Financial Information -> Edit Funding Options

Finally I got a reply from paypal. Here's the explanation...
QUOTE
To ensure the integrity of our network, PayPal may take security
measures, which may affect some accounts in good standing. We regret any
inconvenience this may have caused.

PayPal employs complex statistical models to identify patterns of
behavior. This is similar to the way banks and credit card companies
identify patterns of behavior that are out of the ordinary when
approving individual transactions. When our system does not allow a
certain funding source for a transaction, it is merely an indication
that the individual transaction fits a pattern we have observed in the
past to have a high risk of failure.

the solution isn't that helpful...

QUOTE
--In that case you may have a try to make the payment at a later time,
but it is not guaranteed.
--Another option for you is to add another credit card to your PayPal
account and make payments with the new card.
--Or else you may also choose to receive payments from others to your
PayPal balance first. Once you have enough balance in your PayPal
account, you may use the balance to make the payment and it certainly
will not be denied by system.

I prefer not to buy funds from here, seems like I have to upgrade my Maybank Bankcard to the cherry card. By the way, I can't find Edit Funding Options under Financial Information.

Will not got any invoice. sad.gif

Anyone knows how long the paypal limitation can get resolved?
A few hours? A few days?

Their customer service contact number is a singapore number and I'm reluctant to call them.

Yeah I know, Just try to make up something.

How do the seller send you the paypal fund? personal payment or online purchase? what note that the seller left in paypal when sending paypal to you?

After that try to produce invoice based on above information. I think you need to produce the invoice not the other party.

It won't resolve until you provide all that paypal want.

Malaysia credit card no problem. Been using it for years now. But if you have new account they may limit the amount of money transacted initially.

Someone replied this in the other paypal thread:

QUOTE(kevy @ Oct 16 2009, 11:16 AM)
Well it basically means Malaysians paypal accounts can no longer transfer to another Malaysian paypal account in other currencies other than Malaysian Ringgit. It will be converted if it was done and ... at the moment I am finding out whats the conversion rate but I do conversion regularly in my paypal account between USD and other major currencies..and it doenst look good.

Added on October 16, 2009, 11:51 amIf your transaction involves a currency conversion, it will be completed at a foreign exchange rate PayPal obtains from a financial institution, which is adjusted regularly based on market conditions. This exchange rate includes a 2.5% processing fee above the exchange rate, and the processing fee is retained by PayPal. The specific exchange rate that applies to your multiple currency transaction will be displayed at the time of the transaction.

I just received paypal fund from another Malaysian fellow. There is a note attach to this transfer which come from paypal which says

"Malaysian residents can only exchange funds with other Malaysian residents in Ringgits when using their PayPal balances."

Seem like they want to stop Malaysian sellling/buying paypal fund. Luckily the fund that I received still in USD. if not I lose 2.5% on conversion rate.

There's no charge to open a PayPal account and to transfer money from your bank account to your PayPal account.

There are fees in other cases, such as:

Receiving payment for goods and services.
Receiving payments from friends and family made using a debit or credit card.
Receiving a payment from someone in another country.

You can refer to this link:

Hi.

As I'm still new to paypal, I'm abit confused. What you mean by "transfer money from bank account to paypal account" ?
If my paypal acc is linked to debit card (instead of credit card) and I do not have any paypal funds, it will deduct directly from my bank account.

Does that mean that people usually will open a new acc for this debit card and only fill in sufficient money for transaction from time to time? Or it is safe to use debit card of the main savings account.

Please enlighten me. Thanks.

Thanks.
*
As of now, you cannot transfer money from local bank acc to paypal. later on Paypal will allow withdrawal of paypal balance to local bank account but not sure whether you can do the reverse.

Yes, if you link you debit card, you do not need to add any fund. When you purchase something, paypal automatically get the money from your debit card

Thanks!
I hope this is not the only option
So is there any solution to this yet? I'm facing similar problems.

Hope someone can enlighten me on this thx!

I just check from paypal

PayPal exchange rate:
1 USD = 3.32952 MYR

From Yahoo Finance (rate for 27th Oct 2009)
1 USD = 3.4025

Difference is 0.07298 (2.145%) is this bad ?

On top of that, there is little statement that says, the local bank (bank in malaysia) might charge ?

Anyone with any idea on how much of the charges would be ?

Guys, I've read everything but still seem to be lost
So I'm posting it here laugh.gif or either I didn't search properly
Paypal works something like this right
Register credit card- verify- bid on item- win- transfer funds
We can use our malaysian CC and buy things off US ebay
Does this mean I just register my credit card and immediately verify on the spot
Once I purchase in Malaysia(living in malaysia), can I ask the seller to send to my friend in the US
How much can I purchase per time? or there is a certain limit for a couple of months smile.gif
Another thing I don't understand is the 3% charge and gift. What is the difference?
What I know you can only collect 500 a day from paypal

Thanks

They will charge your CC for verification for few cents. Your bill will have the paypal code and you need to enter the code at paypal to confirm. Make sure you can check your cc bill online. Once confirm, paypal will credit back the CC charge to your paypal fund.

Seller do not enjoy protection if send to address other than the one in paypal. You have to check with seller if they willing to do it.

You can purchase as long you got fund in it and there is no charge to sending fund. Only receiving fund kena charge.

Paypal is so far the most secure payment method I have ever used, and seen. The verification process maybe a little bit troublesome, but then, it's great. I love paypal biggrin.gif

However, the charges are killing me! =S

Paypal fees is one thing..the other is cross country fee 1% charged by CIMB credit card! Arrgh >.< I am always doing a lot of paying through paypal, this 1% is a lot to me!~

I didn't really follow the conversation, but I still think paypal is so far the safest method of payment.

If you withdraw a certain amount less than specified, you will be charged some fees.

As for conversion rate, I think it's the same. It's based on the rate at that moment.

Hmm, Ive made a paypal account a while back, and setup a PBE Visa Electron. However till today I havent verified my paypal account and linked it to my PBE Visa Electron Debit Card.

Until now, when I have the actual needs to receive funds in paypal, I was looking for methods to cash it out in MYR, seems like we can withdraw it to malaysian banks already by now. Sounds good.

However, my concern is, should I do a direct witdrawal into my CIMB account or should I go ahead and transfer it to my debit card (Visa Electron).

Which one is easier and how bout the charges that may apply in between these 2 methods? Insights from those who have experienced it is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Withdraw to debit card is better because of the exchange rate.

Debit Card

Xchange rate = Interbank rate - USD5 per withdrawal so 1% charge for USD500 withdrawal

Bank Account

Xchange rate = Interbank rate - 2.5%

So debit card is better.

Yes its 2.5% as stated by paypal. normally you calculate like this.

eg if current interbank exchange rate 3.5, then paypal will only give you exchange rate of 3.4125.

I'm sorry to ask a very noob question here.

I do have someone wants to transfer money to me from overseas, can I open a paypal account link to my bank account( let's say PBB) and after the transaction done, can I withdraw the money out from the bank through ATM?

Is there any extra chargers? What is the percentage of chargers like? I heard it is free to register paypal but do I need to go to bank to do anything if I want to link it to my bank saving accounts?

Thank you notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

The paypal website says with a business account, we can accept credit card payments, and our customers do not even need to have a paypal account. Anyone figured out how to set this up?

I tried it but the CHECKOUT page actually asks my customer to create a paypal account when they pay me.

So, it's not "your customers do not even need to have a paypal account".

It's rather, "if your customers do not yet have a paypal account, we'll make them open up one just before they pay you".

The only trouble I have with this is you cannot reuse credit card numbers. Paypal remembers the actual credit card number, and doesn't allow it to be used with any other paypal accounts. Say you're the customer. You go to an online shop to buy something. At the bottom of the form, it says create a paypal password, and enter your email address. So you just insert something random in there, just to get the transaction through.

Three months later, you're buying something else at another website. When you tried the same thing, paypal pops up a page saying

You cannot use an e-mail address or card number that belongs to an existing PayPal account. If you have a PayPal account, please log in. If you don't, please change the e-mail address or card number and try again.

Most websites that accept credit cards, asks for name, card number, expiry date, cvv. Nothing else about creating accounts, remembering the login details, blocking the credit card from being used on more than one account.

Given the fact that, presumably you're doing your business in Malaysia and Paypal does not allow Malaysians to withdraw their funds from Paypal account, have you thought of getting a 3rd party credit card processor like 2Checkout.com for your business needs?

Cheers.

Oh, but they do. Now. Paypal is the most attractive as there's no setup/monthly cost. I'm considering the others. The shop isn't on yet.

Hi, want to ask if i have different name(or partial same) on my paypal account and Maybank debit card or other debit card, can i successfully withdraw from paypal to debit card?

Let say my paypal account registered first name is Alan and last name is Lim, while my Maybank debit card name is Lim Ah Tan (you can assume other name too as long as it has partial same name). When i add and verify maybank debit card into paypal, i fill in the correct first and last name for the card detail. The card is successfully linked. But when i want to withdraw the paypal fund to debit card, in withdraw review screen, it show Name on Card is Alan Lim which is the paypal account name, not the debit card name...will i able to withdraw it or it will rejected by the bank? Did anyone face same case before?

i dun really want email paypal to change this paypal account ID becos this account i withdraw is access limited forever due to some ridiculous reason...later on i will close this account and open new account with the name on debit card, if i change this account to same name, this may lead my new account to new trouble and worst access limited again sweat.gif

They charge that to your credit card. Look at the statement. There'a 4 digit code. Log in to paypal, verify your credit card by keying in this code. This money appears in your paypal account. Sometimes it takes a few days.

They do this to verify that you're the actual owner of the credit card you're using on paypal. If your credit card is unverified, there's a limit on how much money you can use. This limits their losses if it's a stolen card.

It should be just USD1.95 one time. Did you do the verification 3 times?

Yes, PB debit card can be used to verify your Paypal. I did it with Public Bank Visa Electron debit card.
Go to any Public Bank nearest to you and ask about PBVE card. The customer service is very good I must say =)

USD1.95 charged for verification. After you received your monthly statement, you'll get the 4 digit code and use it to redeem that USD1.95 back from Paypal.

I just made a new account and wanted to verify it using RHB's CashConnect Debit card (Mastercard) but it ended up always giving me this error:

QUOTE
This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.

What could be the reasons for it to be denied? I have a decent sum of money in the account the card is linked to so I'm sure its not because of insufficient funds. Also, I have tried activating and logging into RHB Bank's internet banking to see if does anything but still no help there. I might have missed something along the way while registration or such so anyone who's experienced using RHB Debit card to please guide me here?

So far, I suspect it could be because I was a little confused when first registering the account. As I have a pure Chinese name (I'll use KENG AH BAH as an example here), I entered KENG as my first name and then AH BAH as my last name so that it will appear correctly (As KENG AH BAH) and thus match exactly the name I have registered with the bank. Is this acceptable or do I have to ditch this account (Which is still new and has no cash in it) and create a new one and correct the name instead? Considering that the paypal name and bank account name must match exactly... Also, does the age of the debit card matter? As I was only issued this card days ago.

If RHB Bank's debit card really cannot be used for verifying, I'm thinking of applying for alternative cards. I'm so far considering getting either a Tune money card or a PB Electron debit card. I know Tune money has a cheaper annual fee but the extra charges for other services might offset PB's Electron debit card's annual fee over time. If I were to use it only to verify the paypal account and withdraw money into the card with the occasional online shopping (Without paypal), which is better?

The rate is very accurate actually because that is HSBC board rate. HSBC Premier customers are guaranteed that when they exchange their money in their multi currency account, let say from US$ to MYR, the rate will be slightly higher than what quoted on their online banking site.

So it means if i were a HSBC Premier customer and i converted some of my money from US$ to MYR at 7.18pm yesterday, i'll get probably $1 = RM3.3900 instead of $1 = RM3.3831.

You need a US bank account and if you're not a Green Card holder, a student pass holder or a sponsored employee by some company in the US, it is impossible to open an account there due to 9/11 regulations.

There were some people trying to convince people in here that it is possible but really it is the opposite. The one i remember was a dude tried to make people into believing him that it is possible to open a checking account with Wells Fargo even if you do not have a SSN (Social Security Number). Some people were trying to sell some sort of package too last time and it is all bullshit !

BUT ... If you're a HSBC Premier customer, you might want to check if it is possible to open an account at HSBC USA with your relationship manager. They promise their Premier customers that it is possible to open an account anywhere in the world as long as HSBC has retail banking business there and HSBC USA is very big in New York State with over 350 full-service branches scattered throughout.

Have you login into your online banking account yet ?

MSOS is Maybank's answer to extra security measure for online transaction. It's like Verified by VISA and Mastercard SecureCode offered by other banks. You can find out more on www.maybank2u.com.my

In order to login to Maybank online, you must set up a PIN number at any Maybank ATM and register your cellphone number at their ATM.

I feel ignored. :/

Maybe I should shorten my earlier post

Can RHB's CashConnect Debit card (Mastercard) be used for Paypal verfication? Because I keep getting denied for some reason. Definitely not insufficent fund as got more than enough money in account. Only thing I probably messed up was my name. Put my chinese surname in the 'First Name' field and the rest of my name in the 'Last Name' field. Does that affect it?

Please and thank you!

Yes the name need to be exact, first name to be in first name field and so on.

Regarding Cash Connect Debit Mastercard, previously there is somebody able to use it to verify paypal.

However, when RHB recently introduced new VISA Debit Card, someone report that VISA debit card not usable in Paypal as RHB impose restriction that online usage only with 3D Secure (Verified by VISA & Mastercard Securecode). So you card may not working as well. The best is to ask the CS.

It is your utility bill such as water/electicity bill.

You have to wait about 2 days before the 4-digit code showing in your online statement.

Hi,

Would need help from someone here.

I have just linked my Maybank Debit Card to Paypal and am in the process of confirming my card as of today.

As stated, I am to receive my 4-digit code in my statement.

However, I don't see it. My statements shows Oct'09-Dec'09. Meanwhile my "today's transaction" shows an authorised transfer but no code.

Where & when can I retrieve this code?

Much help is greatly appreciated.

Ok thanks, I have verified my debit card.

Also, I do not understand the fees rate.

Receiving purchase payments
Your account is set to the Standard Rate for receiving payments of 3.4% + RM2.00 MYR.

Therefore if the item is RM10, the buyer needs to bank in an extra of 3.4% + RM2.00 MYR?

Please kindly do explain, thanks

No.
The buyer paid u RM10 also.

You will pay the fee.

Or you can imposed the charge to customer by adding the fee to product.

PayPal will accept if the names are the same even the order is not in place.

They are smart to recognise: TAN AH BENG = AH BENG TAN

But if the name is totally different: TAN AH BENG = AH KOW BENG, then paypal will immediately rejects it.

You can't add fund to your PayPal account. The feature is only applicable to USA based PayPal account and select several other countries. If you need to pay someone using PayPal, you will need add either a credit card or debit card to your PayPal account and the money will be charged/deducted right away from your credit card/debit card.

The easiest and fastest way is to open a savings account with either Maybank or Public Bank. With Maybank, you can choose not to pay the annual fee but it comes with limited ATM cash withdrawals every month. For more information, you can refer to the debit card thread.

Is this enough to get through to banks or do I need to put in the name field 'David Ah Beng' . Is this the correct way? Any help appreciated.

hello guys...
i tried to link my debit card to my paypal. And i will need to get the 4-digit paypal code to confirm.
Questions: Where to get the code? i've no online account to access my Debit card. i'm using Public Bank card.

hello guys...
i tried to link my debit card to my paypal. And i will need to get the 4-digit paypal code to confirm.
Questions: Where to get the code? i've no online account to access my Debit card. i'm using Public Bank card.

Can it be seen via ATM machine by checking the "recent transaction"?

check from your debit card statement. Usually the bank will send you a statement every month. You'll get your code from the statement maybe beginning of the month.

You meant the Maybank or Public Bank ATM card don't ned to pay annual fee?

How about debit card? Any website link for Maybank user how to apply?
I already got saving account in Maybank and one ATM card now, how to apply for debit card? Any fees?
Go to Maybank and request to change your current Maybank ATM card to the new Maybank VISA debit card. You will need to pay RM12 for the card conversion. But if you do not want to pay for the RM12 conversion fee, go to any Maybank branch to cancel your current ATM card first, then go to another Maybank branch and apply for a new one and make sure you tell them you want the new Maybank VISA debit card. Someone has done this recently and it worked. He didn't have to pay for the card conversion fee.

When you go to apply for the new card, make sure you tell them you do not want to pay any annual fee.

I'm kinda lost here. Need some help. Example my name is David Lee Ah Beng in IC and in malaysia bank account. When you add bank account in paypal, it shows surname 'Lee' and name 'David' . Is this enough to get through to banks or do I need to put in the name field 'David Ah Beng' . Is this the correct way? Any help appreciated.
IC > David Lee Ah Beng
Paypal > Name : Ah Beng ; Surname : David Lee

QUOTE(goldfries @ Mar 10 2010, 05:05 PM)
Surname : Ah Beng

Name : David Lee

according to what's in my Paypal.
You better email them to change it. It should be the other way around. It is so because Paypal is an American company and Americans have their surname at the back of their name. This is why in Olympic Games, you will always see those Malaysian sportsmen names appear as "Choong Wei Lee" instead of "Lee Choong Wei".

Go into any Public Bank branch and apply for online banking for your debit card. You should be able to see the code in the transaction history page.

If you mean you want to transfer some money into your PayPal account, then the answer is no.

Hi guys,

I'm in dilemma and totally confused..

How do i transfer my USD funds to my Maybank account? I don't have any credit card or debit card, i manage to link my Maybank account to Paypal but now i'm wondering whether Paypal will allow me to transfer USD - RM - Maybank account. Paypal will convert currency for me? Any ideas? I'm waiting for some funds to come in, and my client is from the States. This is my 1st time using Paypal..

Would it be easier if i convert my ATM card to Debit card? If i use Debit card, i'm able to withdraw easily? USD-RM-Debit card.

Will i have issue with my name? I'm Muslim, we have "bin", from what i can see on my Paypal account is only my name; without "bin(father's name)". Will Maybank recognize it as full name? Or i have to request to change my name?

Thanks in advance guys.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, if i'm wrong, please inform me, thanks,

I got a question about using Credit card or Debit card to make online purchase via PayPal,
about the charges,

I'm using a EON Bank Master debit card, I linked my card to Paypal, and use Paypal to purchase online,

an example, I made a purchase USD 5.00 with 3.26 exchange rate to RM,

5.00 x 3.26 = 16.30

I got RM 16.30 deducted from my bank account,

02/04/10 EDEBIT PURCHASE-SA (ATM) -RM16.30

then 1-2 days later,

04/04/10 EDEBIT PURC CANCL-SA (ATM) +RM16.30
04/04/10 EDEBIT PURCHASE-SA (ATM) -RM16.56

I got my RM 16.30 back and deduct again RM 16.56, and this is the final charge of my USD 5 purchase,

This is the same to all the purchase I made via paypal, but I can't get a right % or a way to count it right,
different exchange rate purchase, different extra % charge, just don't get it,

I'd like to know how to count this? how does it actually charge me. Anyone know?

1 more example,

USD29.99 exchange rate when purchase = 3.3024

16/03/10 EDEBIT PURCHASE-SA (ATM) -RM99.04
18/03/10 EDEBIT PURC CANCL-SA (ATM) +RM99.04
18/03/10 EDEBIT PURCHASE-SA (ATM) -RM101.47

thanks

Actually that's just a standard procedure when you use credit card (in your case debit card) to make any purchase. Highlighted in red above is called pre-authorization.

QUOTE(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorization_hold)
A debit card works slightly differently. Similar to the previous example, if one has a balance of $100 in the bank and used a debit card to make a purchase at a retail store for $30, then his available balance will immediately decrease to $70 as a hold on the $30 is enacted. This is because the merchant has obtained an authorization from the individual's bank by swiping the card through its credit card terminal. However, the actual balance with the bank is still $100, because the merchant has not actually collected the funds in question. However, unless this authorization hold expires without being finalized the user cannot access that part of their account. The actual balance will not be reduced until the merchant submits their batch of transactions and the banking system transfers the funds.

Similar to the example above, when you charge something to your debit card, the amount will be deducted from your bank balance [16/03/10 EDEBIT PURCHASE-SA (ATM) -RM99.04]. When the merchant actually submitted the transaction to collect funds from the bank, your pre-auth will be refunded [18/03/10 EDEBIT PURC CANCL-SA (ATM) +RM99.04] and the ACTUAL amount will be deducted from your bank account that your debit card is linked to [18/03/10 EDEBIT PURCHASE-SA (ATM) -RM101.47].

The 2 different amounts is due to different currency exchange rate (which you should know fluctuate every day) when the time pre-auth was charged and when the actual amount was charged.

In credit card you don't see this because the pre-auth is deducted from the credit limit, hence not reflected in transaction statements. Only the actual charge will be posted to the credit card statement. Which is why, if you have a credit card, the transaction posting date is more often than not a few days later than the actual transaction date.

Hey peeps, I have added a credit card to my paypal account but I didn't verify it (and don't plan to) because of the USD 2.95 charges that will be imposed on my card for verification purposes. See below:

QUOTE
Get Verified using your credit card
Provide us with your info. We’ll make two small charges to your card. Return to PayPal and enter those charges along with the adjacent code as they appear on your credit card statement. We’ll reimburse you for the charges and you’ll be Verified.
Sure, it will be refunded but not to my credit card account. It will be refunded to my Paypal account, which I will never have any use for it since I don't keep funds in my Paypal account (what can I buy with a mere USD 2.95?). I'll only pay using my CC attached to Paypal.

So my question is, can I still purchase online using an unverified Paypal account that has my CC linked to it?

need help from anyone who has withdrawn money from paypal to bank account before.

question about the name policy.
is it we must enter the last name and name in paypal account according to our true last name and name, or we swap them so we can get the same name as on the bank account?

for example,
on bank acount, our name is Lee X Y
so for surname i enter Lee and for name i enter X Y?

i'm afraid the different name policy in the US may make the name become X Y Lee and i cannot withdraw the money.

pm me if possible. thanks.

Added on November 6, 2009, 1:41 amalso, if the answer is according to our true name, i have already entered X Y as my surname on paypal account, which i cannot change and Lee as name. anyone has experience with that before?

For PBB D2D VISA debit card users, you won't get the hardcopy statement unless you specially request for it.

I wish to send money to a friend using the PayPal Personal Transfer service. According to PayPal website:

"It's free when you use your PayPal balance or your bank account linked to your PayPal account"

At the moment, my PayPal balance is ZERO. However, my PayPal account has two funding sources: Credit Card and Bank Account. Please kindly advise whether I will be charged for a fee if I send money now.

By the way, I find out an option as the following:

"This money is being sent as a: Gift"

What does it mean? Someone says if the money is being sent as a "Gift", then the transaction will be FREE. Is this TRUE even if the PayPal balance is zero?

Thank you very much

how do you know what is the conversion rate?
it's not based on bank negara currency exchange rate.
and there will be extra changes on top of the conversion rate.

that is why I always pay using available paypal fund inside my account and not deducting from my credit / debit card to avoid all the needless charges.

you can get fund for RM3.20 = USD1.00
current rate.

Its usual practice if you use PayPal as a medium to use your credit card, their rate isn't attractive at all, thats how they make profit from the margin smile.gif

u can change the option of charging USD to ur Credit card instead of using paypal forex
Paypal Exchange rate is very expensive

by default it exchange to RM for you, so your credit is charge on RM

Well, i'm using debit card,

normally, it always pre charge with global rate,

of coz 2 days later, final charge will be more than that , to bank or paypal, (i.e if 1USD = 3.295 = RM3.30 (current global rate, 2 days later, final payment thru will be RM 3.9 or more) <-- the extras to bank or paypal
just the last purchase i made on May 27, it charges with more 0.1 than global exchange rate, means after the final charge, even more and expensive

all the purchase I made before, pre charge surely follow the current global exchange rate, and 2 days later, final charge will be more expensive than the first charge,

just last friday I made a USD 7.5 purchase, global rate was 3.295 (should be RM24.71 , but my pre charge was RM 25.44, around 3.392 rate)

2 days later... it charges again even more expensive than 25.44

just wondering, why only the last payment pre charge higher than usual

I always follow the currency rate on xe.com for reference as first pre-charge, any other extras should be charged on final charge.

well, I didn't use my debit card to purchase online directly, just don't feel like to expose any of my info to the merchants, not because I don't trust them, just want to reduce the risk as much as possible, so go on paypal for paying a little bit extra on charges,

I've been using paypal for a year, only the last purchase charge is different doh.gif

did you change the charging option?

coz mine always the latest rate

if you use paypal to charge RM to ur credit card the rate is very expensive

like current rate 3.3 they will convert using rate 3.4 or 3.5 to RM into ur credit card

if you change the option to have paypal to charge U$D to your credit card, the bank will do the conversion
bank forex conversion is cheaper than paypal

The answers can all be found in Paypal FAQ as well as in the dedicated Paypal thread in this board.

By the way, both CIMB Bank and Maybank are supported. Money transfer into either bank's account is free if the total amount to be transferred is at least RMxxx.

Hello there~!

I was advices by my friend to make an account and ask members of LYN concerning helps on PayPal so I did.
Let's move on to the topic! biggrin.gif

I planned to make a commission in DeviantArt, a drawing commission I would rather say.
I have asked a lot of my deviant friends concerning how to manage a commission and they gave me a good tips however the only things that keep confusing me again and again is the payment ways via PAYPAL.

As far as I know PayPal uses credit card isn't it? But I also heard they support bank account and debit card. However I think for the bank account option that they supported is probably possible for U.S Banks right? :/

So I was wondering...should I make a Debit card if yes which bank would be better? Or should I make Standard Chartered supplementary credit card since I'm not working and I'm still 19..=v=;;
I already ask permission from my mom and she doesn't mind but wanted more conformation.
I was also wandering will it be possible to take out cash since I only know that the ATM bank card can do so. :/
Also if I were to make the supplementary card what will happen to the money paid into the credit card?

I also hope to know what exactly does PAYPAL do?
I went to their website and still confused over it. "OTL
I hope I'll receive a good advice and help in LYN! biggrin.gif

Hi Hoshino,

You don't even need a Maybank debit card. You can withdraw your Paypal currency direct into your Maybank account now it takes 3-5 working days. Also you will be charged a fee if you take out less than RM400.

Paypal is basically Internet currency, best used if you are doing International business. Good luck and gambateh ok smile.gif

I got a question regarding withdrawing money from paypal to Malaysia bank.

What is my concern is the name of my bank account tally with the name in paypal account.

For example, my bank account name is Lee Ah Loy. As for chinese name, Lee is the surname. But when registering in paypal, there is First Name and Last Name. I put Ah Loy as first name and Lee as last time. But when they display the name on paypal, it was Ah Loy Lee.

I'm wondering is the name setup correctly? Would paypal able to transfer to my bank account? Assume I have created the bank account in paypal.

Thanks.

Snifs..Any help in unfreezing Paypal?

Recently Paypal froze my account and it's being suspended for 6 months..I looked up on the issue on Google, and many people complaint of similar treatment from Paypal.

Most of those accounts are legitimate accounts, which means the owners are doing legit business.

I just recently transferred several large sums of money into account, and got suspended right away sad.gif
