Hi, I will be interviewed next week for the post above. Can somebody help me?. I have asked similar question in other threads about Public Bank but no answer. So anyone could help me, what is the job scope and the interview process? What question would be asked in the interview?

actually is which department has available post, u will be relocated to that particular department...
anyway, salary is attractive~~~

ya salary is attractive but my fren who works in RHB said (i dunno whether it is true) the starting salary is high but the increment is low than other bank. Do you know how's the interview process going? any idea?

haha!i also got the call for interview.starting pay is 2.8k standard already.normal rate ,not so high,some,u can get higher.

erm ive actually went to the interview for this position.. they need mortgage salespersons the most, and then some credit backroom operators..

these are the 2 divisions ull most probably fall into..

ive asked them, they dont switch u around departments and want u to focus on 1..

salary will be much lower depending on ur qualification ..

it depend on the manager who interview you.... some of the manager kinda bossy but some kinda good... some only asked bout situation that you can and cant handle while some throw a question like, what you expect from the bank and what you can contribute to the bank....

work at pbb before.... the manager that interview me kinda bossy and giving me hard times... but then dunno why he said i performed very well and hire me....

care to tell more about the bold part?... so how's your interview going? is it tough?...
so let say, if u have degree with no experience, is it starting salary rm2800? thanks dude..

im not the manager le... but maybe will ask whether you can work under pressure .... they din set out the question to ask you before hand... what comes to the manager mind, thats the question will be asked... try to search more bout PBB history and current news too... its help... remember one of my ex col, she's been asked bout PBB history from one of the branch manager...

ya right, sometimes, 1 question - depend on how u answer can lead to other question. where it can be very complicated and hard to answer.. i experienced this when i went for interview in uob cmt.. the hr manager asked me many question which i don't think it's related to the jobscope and gave me a hard time..

eg tat she asked: (a lady)
1. what was my biggest achievement, i answered,
2. then followed by, why do u think that was ur biggest/highest acheivement, i answered
3. then is there any improvement that can be done over there in future, answered
4. wat can u do in order to ensure that everything will be smooth, blablabla..

other than these, many other questions she asked..

interview process pretty tough..make sure u know more about their company products.

compare to sales/marketing executives , management traineed maybe a bit hard.

they will ask about company products? although for mgmt trainee?

i attended to many banks' interview, some of them have assessment day, but not very sure if public bank has assessment or not, cuz i only been to their bancassurance post interview..not too tough, as they really need people, as long as u have transport and good communication skills and convincing...u will be hired~~

management trainee position means that they will allocate u to whatever department most suitable to ur preference and experience... right? so i believe all pbb employees with a degree are earning no less than 2.8k even sales & marketing dept.. but how come they offered me much lesser basic + NO commission will be given for sales line (wtf?) which they said will be compensated with annual performance bonus... what a way to cut cost and turnover rate.... im really dissapointed with them

I working as MT now.Good pay.Actually when they say work as MT ,it is not reallly work.It actually training and learning.Like going to college.But instead PB pay you 2.8k every month to learn which is cool!.

Now all i do is read magazines and learn how they operate.Have to go Bangi for 2 weeks for training wan.Fridays you get to go back at 4.45pm.Mon to Thurs go back at 6pm.Everyday start work at 9 am.Been working for 4 days.

Furthermore,in february this year,PB founder and owner paid RM 1200 cash to each officer and RM 800 for clerk.This is not including ur basic pay.So in short,he just give free cash to everyone when he got mood.PB is the best paying bank for now.

i'm interested.... how to apply for this position?...

are u sure u'll be doin the same thing for d rest of d days? u're based in HQ ar?

the 1 they paid in feb is their arrears lo, not cash incentive

do they hire MT outside KL branches like in penang?

Of course no lah.But for now training period is honeymoon.The best thing is they pay you your full salary for training.So practically now i just sit in the office and do nothing for the whole day.SERIOUS! That is why i found some mags and read.You want to do work oso cant cause one mistake and you will be dead.I am based in one of the branches not HQ.I wouldnt want to work in HQ.Jam will be killing.

Payment in FEB was not arrears.It was a cash incentive.Every staff got it.

Training is one year.But will be all over the place.

Haha, 4 days only of coz you wun be doing much. I was MT last year (2007) at PB Bangsar branch and its true, generally 1st year, its more like a training period whereby u need to Bangi often for training. But its definitely not honeymoon though cos after the 1st month or so you will be given tasks to do and u will need to perform. Its not a test or something, its really a job tasks whereby u need to go and meet clients, some corporate clients as well.

Oh yeah, generally MT means you will be rotated through the different departments within the bank but PB prefer their MT to concentrate on something. Be it credit department, sales, wealth management and so on. Anyway if you don't like the department u are in, u can ask for transfer. So its ok.

Interview in PB is quite easy, well thats what i feel as their question are nothing out of this world and it is the kind of question someone SHOULD expect to be asked when they go for interview.

Something like :-
1. introduce urself
2. what was ur greatest achievement and how you achieve it
3. tell me what was ur greatest obstacles in life and how u overcome it
4. give a scenario to u and ask what would u do if u are in that situation. Generally its something concerning tight deadline and ur colleagues are making it hard for u
5. what is ur strength and weaknesses

good luck to u.. once u work there more than 3 monthsss... u will understand... but instead they really pay alot of bonus to 'good', 'performing' staff and depends on d manager as well.. but to get additional bonus.. u must work more than 1 yr... RM1200 ang pow for Exec.. RM1000 for officer, RM800 for clerical, RM500 for non-clerical coz alot of pple resign after CNY.. tats y they gv additional 'cash incentive'..

honestly, some of d branches really nice to work with.. but some need to work until 8 o 10 o'clock.. once again.. depends on ur luck.. for HQ.. only a few of department vry tough.. n for Sales n Marketing.. depends on urself as well.. coz not every1 can get sales.. at least RM1M/mth u need to sign it back for PBB (Loans)... You can choose to stay there for free or you can drive there and claim the mileage.

LOL yea, tech savvy person like me I think no internet my life would be pretty boring but since training I guess all the time should be filled up except night time. Plus on a LDRelationship so chat on internet much cheaper =P Weekend can come home then not so bad la ...

I've already went through the interview with them ... hopefully I get the position I want or else have to apply for transfer next time

Yeah, medical checkup at their designated clinic at menara ambank, I just went for it yesterday damn the clinic people are rude like XXXX especially the damn x ray lady, scolded me for nothing.

After that you'll bring back a letter from the clinic then pass to the HR and they'll give you offer letter to sign. n Welcome to public bank.

If you're sales position, prepare to go for training at bangi.

If diploma with experience,they offer you Operation Officer(OO) 2.2-2.8k.
ya OO lower pay than GT.

If you got degree without exp,they offer u graduate trainee(GT) RM2.8k

If degree with exp,they offer you Senior Operations Officer(SOO)-RM 3-5k

If degree with lots of exp,they give you either Assistant Branch Manager or Business Manager RM6k - 10k with tons of benefits..

If degree and spent your whole working life there,then they should give you Branch Manager or Manager if based in HQ.

Mind you for all positions,bonus is paid every 6 months depending on performance with a minimum bonus of 1 month .

Health check they'll ask u to go n collect the letter for health check and it'll be done immediately within 1-2hours

Starting work depends on you, whether you say start immediately or later.

I have apply for the Management trainee as well, hopefully they call me up for the interview. I'm not a fresh graduate and have 5b years working experience (but not with bank) and friendly speaking I'm earning more than RM3.5k/ month right now.

What are the chances?

For those who r getting offer frm pbb which dpmt they put u in?

when you say a degree with some experience, does that include the unrelated experience or ONLY the banking experience is counted...

and when you say with a lot of experience, how many years is dat?

As long as got some working experience like in sales line or others.Does not need to be banking experience.

Alot of experience means in the region of 8-10 years onwards..

Added on April 12, 2008, 12:20 amThey will put you in branch for on the job training.Then send you to Bangi for training(Theory).Usually 2 weeks -1 month for officer(mgmt trainee).

Then only after the training completed they will ask you wat dpt you wan to be placed in.

However,after training in Bangi,you will still be under training for 1 year.After you complete the training for 1 year then you will straight away jump to Senior Operations Officer(SOO) without having to go thru Operations Officer(OO).This is for ppl who were hired as Management Trainees.

senior operation officer? means will be placed in branch and manages day-to-day retail banking operations and have those tellers under you is it?

There is two types.One is like you said,have tellers under you and you will have the authority to authorize all transactions.

Another type is in charge of loan,credit department.SOO has higher authority and can authorize or recommend higher amount of loan.Still need HQ approval though.

Both of these are at branch.Tell ya something,work in branch is a hell lot better than work in HQ.

if apply for penang branch also have to go bangi for training?

what if im a business owner and wanted to get a job as MT? (well get more contacts and learn something from the bank) do u think they will consider tat as a threat to them? do u even disclose that information that u are a business owner? thx

yeap....but the company will pay the flight and u will be staying inside the hostel provided at bangi there...

Only one interview, their interview can say is the easiest among all, no assessment, mgmt trainee for pbb don't go through such process

pbb mostly hiring for sales people now .. if you don't wanna do sales don't accept the offer, sales in banking industry is not easy at all

my advise is if u don't really like the banking industry that involves alot of tedious work don't join for the sick of the pay n benefits, you might regret in the end .. also you'll meet alot of unreasonable customers in bank if you work in frontline, think about it before accepting the offer, don't be like me having great regrets now

so i guess you are in sales line? mortgage?

i have go for interview for mt public bank a couple week ago... the interview session quite easy one... but now they hire mt for sales department only... other department full already...

i manage get sales and marketing executive post but reject it liao since it outdoor one... the both interviewer very nice...

don have any assestment compare with other bank lor... the questions are more to given situation such as if you fail achieve the sales target and push by your boss at the same time, how you handle it? or how you promote bank product to the customers that have reject you again and again, what your solution... many said that the PBB interview was easy one......but i ask some of my fren(chinese n malay)...they said it was very hard, the interviewer was very bossy n arrogant......i'm a bit confused.....maybe they didnt lucky enough getting that kind of interviewer....or, it depend on our own confidence....

Ya,Bank pay well,so dont expect it to be a 9-5 job.Expect it to stretch on to 7pm or sometimes 8.If worse ,then stay on till 10.

The more money you get,the more is expected of you.So if you want easy pz job,then work in small small company lah.Can go back right on the dot.


PBB bonus is paid TWICE a year for your INFO.Once in JUNE and DECEMBER.

Officer level now they stil practise for 2 months... but dunno will continue until when lo..
Performance bonus is somewhere around may to sept.. depends on d management mood lo... clerical normally like wil get 1/2 to 11/2 month..

How true Ivan, I have to agree to hat you've said, seriously other than the benefits and salary I don't think there's any other things that attract me to typical chinaman company. I've experience it and I would have to say I really cannot tahan this kind of environment any longer. I felt that learning, passion and having to see ur future in a company is very important. I guess starting high to me now doesn't mean a thing anymore. I want to have the opportunity to learn more when I'm young now.

As like what you said for the females, this is so true, I'm requested to be an usher for the dinner. How sexy i do not know yet. Usher for red carpet welcoming those big shots. Like what I've heard they said pretty girls win the heart of those you know who.. but I find it so ridiculous, to use this kind of methods to get promotion, prefer ppl appreciate my work than all this kind of short cut route.

I'm sure Ivan u've change a job right =P I think the culture there, does not fit many young grads?
