hehee...nice to know you...I'm in biotech course. I seriously do not know because I'm actually interested in cancer research and was an intern at institute of medical research during my 2nd sem. i was placed in the molecular department. so...i have some basics in molecular work and..some in their NPC research. only very basics stuff~lah....so....haihz..never mind...i think the first choice will still be molecular work...rite?

oh...you mean for all the courses?
hahaa..i really had the semangat before this...typing letters and stuff...but now...the fire seems to be going off. maybe will shrink into something smaller...just for the biotech group perhaps..if it's confirmed that nothing is on for the graduates

Dr.Kim is very strict.
I think she is quite demanding in students' work.
Many students are pressured being taught by her....
but she is good.

actually i dun really like anything that has got to do with PCR, protein purification, chromatographic and stuffs lor...but many exp involves PCR...can't avoid from it...majority of my coursemates also dun like PCR bcoz of the lecturer and the teaching assistant who taught us last time was errr......( i guess u should know who i meant..heheh)

the thing is, i plan to study master's in future so i think that i will be able to learn more by doing wet lab and PCR is the so-called basic method one must know, as well as gel electrophoresis etc right? *sigh*

no offense akane but I dislike anything which has to do with plants.....
i prefer bacteria or animal related stuff...
i guess we have diff affection...

DR. chew is a SHE.....it's alrite if she doens't know u. last time she took abt 12 biotech students for their fyp.
I liked her alot....her lecturer's is great and she is very friendly. ^^

Dr.anthony in the other hand is a very cheeky lecturer.....his has a great sense of humour! Even the world's most boring subject will become interesting after being taught by him...like wat i had last sem-neurobiology.

ok...just to share with you all...i've surveyed my biomed coursemates....majority of them are doing microbio works.....less ppl are interested in doing molecular work....and i think the rest of them will choose to do dry lab...

Workscope include culture of luminescnce bacteria (streak plate), isolation of single colony (luminescent broth), DNA extraction (many methods can be used), Gel electrophoresis (1 after DNA extraction and another after PCR), Polymerase chain reaction, Bacterial antibiotic resistance test, sequencing (i didn't manage to do this, not enough time for me hehe) etc....

it was another UTAR-electricity-cut-off DAY again.....ahahaha...class was cancelled and so I followed along my coursemates to meet the lecturers.

today i have met:

Dr. Chew (again): jenzl, i think dr.chew is fed up with answering us so many times so she reacted like that to u...actually she is good. or maybe bcoz she taught us b4. she will be leaving to kampar mid-dec so her fyp will surely be finished within 2 mths...it will be fast. All our senior has done her exp, 2 batches of them and the protocols are all prepared. No worries!!!!

Dr. Sit: His exp is easy to conduct, cheap material ( your choice of plant). no equipment involve, bacteria culture, and he said student with moderate speed can finish the exp in a month's time....yea! sounds great rite?

Dr.Woo: for her exp, u gotta come out with your methods, she is not providing that to you. gotta read up from journals. to those who dun have initiative to search for info and independent enuff, prepare to die la...hehe

my 1st choice is still DR.anthony.....i hope i get his project!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, to memorize the thing u learned in degree.. kinda.. ahahha.. Damn alot of people can't speak properly.. even if lecturers    Btw, mostly those top scorers sit at the front row alone, and they are very timid.. hahaha.. i stereotyped  between.. do you guys read from books or just depend solely on the notes given by lecturers?

Btw, i donno how 2 speak mandarin too.. But it doesnt mean that my english is good. Haha, i tried to join chinese school at my place for form 1, but got rejected, because they don't accept student who don't know mandarin.. >_>

actually I think that students should read from books other than lecture notes but how many of us here really do that?

Well, for my case, from Week 1 to Week7, I would be hardworking enough to read from reference books and make my own notes but after that when midterms and assignment datelines pile up in front of me...finishing the lecture notes has became a great burden to me.....ahaha....so during exam period....stick to lecture notes and u will still do great!!!

normally bar list out around week 13 rite? i have labtest week 13 + some other tests.. lol Dr Ramani paper is 2molo.. im going 2 die soon 
Ahh.. i've experienced one of the worst.. she's the part time lecturer from GMI, not sure tho.. her england very powderful.. lol she teaches us structural biochemistry y1s1.. Haiz.. at first is Dr Chew taught us, dunno why change during week 7.. Some more people say structural biochem is killer subject 

I need help in clarifying something thou,

I got hold of my application form for utar yesterday from my godsis.

I was planning to apply for Pyschology in Kampar but in the application form,it lets you apply for more courses example like first choice,2nd choice and so on.But the problem is I wanted pyschology only.Can I just put the course as the first choice and leave the others blank?And is there any possibilities that utar can send me to other campus?

i think if your result is good, they will straight away give u ur 1st choice 1.. so i think better put..

No, I want to study Chem Eng. instead of Biotechnology. Yeah I'm a STPM student. The application form guideline says this

STPM Student Entry Requirements BSc. Chem. Eng.

Minimum 2 principal passes including one Science subject or Maths

A-Levels

Minimum 2 principal passes including one Science subject and Maths

The AND / OR is alot of difference. I didn't fully pass my maths. 

there has been a change of policy where wednesdays are no longer reserved for club activities and also the fact that one subject have few lecturers. Is this for short sem oni or long term??? O_O

Utar is cool.. u know why

because when you go out working.

the boss will ask u graduate from where.

And if u say taylors or sunway or what ever la they will just say "Oh is see"

but if u graduate UTAR they will say " Oh Utar Issit the one in PJ or in setapak or blah blah" and they will ask alot about Utar

Why because Utar is interesting unlike other Collages which is always associated with one word "expensive"

How can I check what UTAR courses are accredited? What website can I look at?

Juz to let those that wanna choose to enter UTAR or those currently in utar and will be graduating know that there is such thing that the university is trying to hide such from the students. The other universities always hv alternative document to solve problem, but UTAR will not do anything unless there is LOTS of people compliant.

I'm a UTAR graduate, juz took my final paper on september. no official document yet. quarell with all UTAR department a few time already. it alsmost cost me my job in singapore. luckly i hv my diploma with me.

u can try asking the office, normally the answer will be - ask the exam division, then exam division will tell u to ask ur faculty office, then in the end both juz simply tell u something, without letting u know the vry important notice of awarding degree and confirmation of graduation by senat.

they will issue an alternative letter other than those saying senat sign and u are awarded with ur degree, normally this letter take ages, and for transcript worst, office say u'll get it 2month after convo. utar juz cant giv a letter saying u completed study or u hv pass all result waiting for convo
