I don't see what the point is if the "enforcement" officers themselves cannot differentiate legal and non legal HIDs. It defeats the rules they created. On the other hand, if they completely ban HIDs on the road, I say they should completely ban halogens too and go back to the old headlights which were less brighter.
Remember when halogens were first introduced, it received the same kind of response from road users (ie. too bright, etc.) because they were not used to it. I am not saying that people should accept all HIDs, but be objective. Accept the fact that HID is a good technology and that properly installed HIDs don't blind. By "properly" I mean one with good bulbs and alignment, giving proper illumination and also does not blind others.
On the other hand, do not accept those cheap China made HIDs where the bulbs are not calibrated to conforming standards and hence, causing glare. All I am asking is for people, and that includes the enforcement officers, to be objective and not just ban HIDs because they think what they wanna think. Philips and Osram will not invest millions, or even billions, creating and working on a technology which is accepted worldwide (except for malaysia), if it wasn't safe for use, as claimed by our enforcement officers as well as misinformed citizens. Just my 2 cents worth. Cheers!
u might say that properly align HID will not be blinding but some HID are so bright and when its on uneven road that it will blind people not only from opposite road sometimes when i look at the rear mirror too... i personally had encounter a few times and manage to avoid a few accident thx these ppl...I myself am not happy with JPJ for having such a stupid law.
