I agree that the usage of dark tint should not be limited to just VIPs. Are their lives more valuable than ours? As it is, robbers are targeting single women. If a car is tinted, it makes it harder for the robber to see that the woman is alone, no? It also means that people with flash DVD players, meters, etc in their cars will have it good, no?

What I hate is that JPJ rulings have always belonged in a grey area. Now they seem to make up rules along the way and it costs money to have everything changed.

My friends Gen2 got called in for HIDs and 80% tinting. It's out now. Mine is going in today. Had to change both my rear windows as it's original black glass and rip the tinting off my rear windshield sigh...

QUOTE(unfaithful @ Jun 26 2008, 02:00 PM) wats the requirement to tint car? as in JPJ and police allow? 35% arh? There is a lot of turmoil in PUSPAKOM now and it's really hard to get anything by them now. My car is yet to pass inspection, pending documents from Putrajaya. I just had an engine transplant and though it's to the same make of engine, I still need to get an official letter of sorts from Putrajaya. All I know is that things are really messed up there now. As for your question on tinting, I believe it's 30%, someone correct me if I'm wrong. In any case they are going to be coming down really hard next month so best to lay low for awhile.

Just got my ride endorsed this morning. In the end, it involved 5 days of running around and lots of socialising. Thankfully I got a friend to do me a favour and he and his runner did loads of well... running. In the end, I had to change my rear two passenger windows as they consisted of black glass, and I had to rip the tint off my rear windshield. In any case, after a few trips to PUSPAKOM, JPJ, Putrajaya and the places mentioned above, I finally got the all important stamp of approval, dated 1st July 2008

QUOTE(sharkteef @ Jul 1 2008, 02:44 PM) u're not agong. only agong gets the agong tint priviledge. what about HID's ? any word on it while u were there ? Thing is when I bought my car, it came with projector lamps and HID. They passed it as an "original" part of the car. I wasn't there so I don't know the details, all I know is that they approved mine.

QUOTE(ron4 @ Jul 2 2008, 10:54 PM) I think logically JPJ enforce this regulation for a several reasons. But one of the reason help Police to spot, so that the police can recognize the criminal face by looking at window. But current JPJ rule is maximum 30% for front windscreen and 50% for Rear and Side window, to me this nonsense. I think 50 - 60% maximum for front is quite ok, because Police can still see and recognize whose the person inside. Tint actually to protect from light of Sun in daylight, to protect for our accessories, dashboard and leather seats inside the car, not only protect human.. I seriously doubt that a cop will have time to recognise a criminal when the car he's in is going 80 km/h. If they are really on the lookout for a con, they should set up roadblocks and stop every car. Therefore the tint doesn't come into play if you ask me, especially when it comes to this scenario. I try to look at it from a safety aspect. Criminals will find it harder to look in and it is safer especially for single women drivers. Just 2 nights ago I saw a woman get robbed. They broke her passenger side window when she was stopped at the traffic lights. Obviously she had put her purse on the passenger side seat and the crooks saw it. No one could react in time, it all happened so quickly. They sped off before anyone could get down from their car to help. I just think that the safety aspect should be given priority even if it means inconveniencing the cops a little and having them work a little harder. With escalating prices everywhere we can expect the crime rate to rise even more now. So ok fine, they don't want dark tinting. What are they going to do to help with the safety risks then?
