avast pro edition got 7 providers running : instant messaging, internet mail, network shield, p2p shield, script blocking, standard shield, and web shield...and the newest version add 1 more function >>> anti-spyware...avast can say, scanning ur pc all the time, u may know when u r using it..

dude avg is crappy
infact it has no proper on-access scanner and usually dont detect a lot of trojans until u scan it manually on the file

avast.. the on access is super excellent..
the virus recovery database is freaking fast..
and u dont need it to scan the whole hdd as often as mcafee and avg.
also its not prone to service attacks like avg and nav

best is bit defender.. but i find it .. like fort nox.. it keeps virus out and annoys u a lot of time
kapersky was superb on xp but very buggy for vista

yeah, sometimes suddenly come out alert and i found that the program and location is not using, mean it scanning the pc silently...

isnt it scanning the pc all the time will cause the computer performance to drop.. i have tried Kaspersky ver 7 once and it also scanning my hard disk all the time and the result all my application become slower... my AV that work fine for me Antivir 8.8 and spyware remover Spyware Doctor.. this works better for me...
