GENM no problem but the owners is the problem,

everyyear one RPT, siphon all the cash, RM 250~RM 500 million a year.

div so kedukut %*#@%$^@

i wanna write to our PM, suggest to him to windfall tax GENM, RM 5 billion, can use the money to buy jet fighter punya engines, can send another astronot, can build bridge from pahang to sarawak, build another bridge from malaka to dumai, from perlis to langkawi, klang to pulau ketam, build a lot of bridge, can do a lot of think oso .......

satu pukul dua pecah ---> read in mandrin.

yes, taxed all the 5 billion, there is this windfall tax regulation, which give the govt the authority to tax sesuka hati one.....

last time Pak Lah tax to all the IPP, but for one year onli.....

for me better for the govt to tax GENM than let them do all the lousy RPT.

This analyst report is just like rubbish....

The problem why GenM valuation is very lag is becoz of the lousy RPTs.

to make thing worst, the mgmt / owner holding the large cash pile without having any idea wat to do except buying some financial instrement........

couple with poor div yield, there is no any upside catalyst.

May be our PM sud windfall tax GenM, to boost up the govt coffer, instead of charge us RM 50 for credit card.

Yes this little lim invested in some US company, loosing money

than he used GenM to bot over, do in in a way that he dun hv to get share holder approval.....

if the US company making money, sure he will not sell to GenM.....

He himself is very prudent........

used the div to pay car park..... OMG, he think he pay a lot of div ?

Let's us suggest to najib to windfall tax GenM, tax semua the 5 billion. go and buy enjin kapal terbang or buy more jet fighter and send another man to the moon, lagi syiok.

QUOTE(sharesa @ Jan 24 2010, 12:49 AM)
I recall during the AGM and stood up at the microphone and asked,"why not consider giving more dividends to attract investors and boost the share price?"
The Cock-tail looked at my face with slight  surprised look and answered," need to keep the cash pile and look-out for a good purchase".
Haiyo.... sudah 2 years already.

ahhahahahahha, his answer is correct but the meaning is, " I will look out and invest, but when my investment fail, GenM will buy over"

this is wat happen to Digital Walker.

If u remember during the Genting group 45 year aniversary, the press ask him about some of his investment in US, he say this is my personal investment nothing to do with GenM.......... so dejavu

let see wat RPT he will do this year

Actually there is nothing wrong for controlling shareholder to hv their own business. SC dun banned that....

The problem is when his investment fail and loose money, he used GenM to buy over, and make it such a way that no need to go thru' voting by the minority.

He sud distribute all the 5 billion from GenM, and the lim family will be getting the big chunks anyway, than he can use his portion to do anything he likes.

QUOTE(the snowball @ Jan 25 2010, 06:48 PM)
I have no problem with them operating their own business as long as it is not the same business as the listed entity. But, their private firm are involve in Casino business which is the major revenue contributor of Genting group. By involving in the same business in their private entity, they may be tempted to take all the good deals to Kien Huat and leave the lausy deal to Genting.

I think it is illegal in certain common law country for directors or executives to take away the business opportunities of the company. But not really sure about Malaysia.

Genting have a cash cow in GENM but their corporate governance really haiz... doh.gif

Definately in Malaysia , SC do not stop controlling share holder/director to be involved in same line of business with their listed entity. As long as good corporate governance is in place i dun see this as a big issue.

in malaysia, this is very common for owner of public listed company in plantation, construction, trading, and property who also hv their own investment usually those own by individual entrepurner.

and we can see a lot of RPT involved between these tycoon and their listed entity

among those, for the pass 2 years, GENM always shock the investing community with the RPT.

As a result of these lousy RPT, the share price of GenM is bashed down and investor just shy away from the share.

all the genting counters had nice year financial profit...i think it will rebound soon.problem is...

WHAT IS TARGET PRICE TO ENTER?
*
NICE ????? pls read carefully the press realeased for GENM.

" The Group recorded a net profit of RM358.2 million for 4Q09, compared to a net loss of
RM387.9 million for 4Q08. Excluding the impairment loss of RM781.5 million relating to Genting
Hong Kong Limited (formerly known as Star Cruises Limited) in 4Q08, net profit for 4Q09 would
have decreased by 9% year-on-year."

"The Group’s net profit for FY2009 increased from RM634.0 million in the previous year to
RM1,323.3 million. The basic earnings per share for FY2009 is 23.2 sen as compared to 11.1
sen in the previous year. The increase in profit is mainly attributable to lower impairment losses
on the Group’s investments for the year totalling RM79.0 million as compared RM781.5 million
in the previous year. Excluding these impairment losses, net profit would have declined by 1%
from RM1,415.5 million to RM1,402.3 million and is mainly attributable to the weaker luck factor
in the premium players business and lower interest income."

Some point to think, exclude the impairment for star cruise:

(1) FY2009 Q4 is 9% less than FY2008 Q4 in net profit. Remember 2008 Q4 is a very bad time.
(2) Lower interest income, GENM bought some instruments paper and claim that it can boost the interest income and now see the result ????
(3) if we see for full year, 09 is 1% less than 08 in net profit, So for 2010, after the two IR in singapura open, so what will be the net profit for 2010 ????

SO NOW DO U STILL THINK THAT GENM had NICE financial profit ??????
