Okay guys, listen up. I've been asked by the In2 Marketing, the organizers of this year's Malaysia WCG2008 to ask on whether you guys are interested in participating in this year's World Cyber Games 2008. They want to know what's the response like for console gamers.

As you know, there are also Xbox 360 games in the competition, but we need to find out how many Xbox 360 players here own these games and whether they're willing to take part and compete among other players to represent Malaysia at the WCG2008. If you have the following games, please mention it in your post and state the games that you're willing to compete in.

- Project Gotham Racing 4
- Guitar Hero III
- Halo 3
- Virtua Fighter 5

Also due to the difficulty of sourcing for Xbox 360 consoles for the competition, would you guys mind bringing your own console to the competition? I know it's a hassle but since Microsoft Malaysia isn't focused on the Xbox 360 here, we will need to improvise. In2 Marketing says they can at least arrange for monitors and speakers, so all you have to do is bring your console and controller. What do you think?

I strongly believe that the console gamers in Malaysia can put up a good fight against other players around the world. The response at last year's Consoul 2007 was fantastic, and I believe this year's community of Xbox 360 players is even greater. If we can pull it off, we can show to Microsoft and other gamers that the console gaming community in the country is live and active. Malaysia Boleh!

thing is you have to be over 18 right?

If you're below 18, you'll need your parents to sign a parental consent form.

As mentioned before, we need to know which of the 4 listed games you have (PGR4, GHIII, Halo 3, and VF5) and which games you're interested in competing in. So if there're a lot of, say, Halo 3 and Guitar Hero III players who want to compete, then In2 Marketing may hold those competitions.

Yes please In2 hold xbox360 games for us this year. I don't mind bringing my own xbox.

What kind of minimum number of gamers are they looking for?

Right now, they're gauging the interest for Xbox 360 game competition in the WCG2008. I'll check back with them later for the minimum number required to have the competition. I think we can gather a fair amount of players for at least Halo 3.

Nope, sorry. Need to be one of the official Xbox 360 games as decided by the WCG committee.

brutally honest..but i agree.

The thing is that the WCG may change its stance and even though we have to bring our own consoles. We finally have a shot at the world circuit.

You have to understand that since Microsoft does not officially support the Xbox 360 here in Malaysia, then it's very hard to source for units to be used in the competition. Not many game shops are willing to sponsor that many consoles either, not even Gamer's Hideout. And what happens if something happens to the unit during the competition? Who will take responsibility? Even during Consoul 2007 players had to bring their own consoles. And I don't see anyone slamming Jason, Bobby, or Eddy over it.

In general we need about 6 - 10 consoles. Doesn't sound like much but if more games are being contested, then you'll need more consoles so that the games will run faster. Imagine having 50 players sharing 6 consoles - for sure the matches will take ages to complete. More consoles = more matches run at the same time. If everybody bring their own console to compete, then it should make things go smoother. Don't have to worry about settings or what, since they all use the same hardware.

For a contest to happen, we need at least 30 - 40 players who want to compete per game.

Another thing to look at is the fact that 3ROD can still happen at anytime. Profiles shouldn't be a problem, but if ur thinking of having 6-10 consoles, i suggest the number be doubled for safety precautions.

Wish i could join for GH3, but i believe i would need to have a 360 then only i can join eh?
