Try out the DiMarzio PAF Pro..... Really nice and warm sound like the Gibson PAF pickups. Goes great with the GSA60 series.

Either that or Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro II.

You know what, I REALLY REALLY think people are not paying enough attention to their backline...... ie... their amps, effects, and their cable hook ups.

Instead of spending 800 bucks for pickups, save up for a good tube amp, or at least a Valvetronic amp like the Vox ADVT series or a Marshall Valvestate amp. Yes, Tube amps are hard to come by, but if you look hard, I'm sure you can find some.

If only they brought in Krank, Epiphone or Peavey amps....... all of them have cheap, good, tube amps.......

But I always wonder, if we have such good amps , place in our bedrooms .. We also can't blast them loud enough to really hear our guitar's proper tone.. Right?

Unless u have a big bungalow house or wanna annoy ur neighbours hehehh..

However we think it's cool while we're playing/blasting our music/amp .. Our neighbours hate it to hell. Seriously.. Cause I myself had a neighbour who blasted shit music right behind my house and I hated it to hell I almost went over and talk to the GIRL somemore.. But she moved out before I could do anything. Oh, yeah, it's a african american.

There's always a THD hotplate if you're going the full blown tube amp......
And the beauty about the Valvetech amps, is that it does sound great even on lower volumes....... just make sure you get a lower wattage amp then.

I still think it's better to invest on an amp then a guitar or pickup unless the guitar's neck is uncomfortable. A nice amp can just do wonders with the correct adjustments

IMO, there's no good or bad in the search of tone... juz that they are all different. You might complain that a cheap stock pickup sounds muddy, but pop in some graphic EQ and you might get it to sound like a SD or Dimarzio.

Same goes to playing a 200 bucks Dimarzio thru a cheap 15 watt practice amp. It might even end up sounding worse then the stock pickup you've juz thrown away. Juz need to understand here that every component in the signal chain from your guitar until the amp plays it's own part into shaping the tone.

So before you think about replacing anything, learn about how the different pickups, amps and effects puts colour to your tone. By then, you'll know what to replace and not end up spending a fortune. wink.gif

lol

i don't think GSA60's stock pickup..is anywhere near a Dimarzio or a Seymour..even with a graphic EQ

Some "boleh tahan-lah" stock pickups i find.. probably BC RICH BDSM , and Duncan Designed

In that case Decent Guitar + Good Pickups + Good Amplifier = Good tone.

Not really though, I get good sounds from the same Powersound bridge PU on my RG after some tweaking. The only PU I changed on my RG is the neck to a FRED. The Powersounds are naturally mid heavy and lacking some high end. Tweak a bit and with the right amp model, nice tones can come out from this el cheapo..smile.gif Here out one of my recordings though. Recorded direct into PC from my GFX-5 using mainly the bridge PU... No offense here but just to make a point that most times cheap stuff do sound good. Cheers wink.gif

Listen to my sifu gapnap man.. He's like the king of pickups lah.

Any stock pups are SHIT!!! Not any la.. Most. They're MUDDYYYY! (especially the Ibanez stock ones, don't even speak of the Power-p***-sound pups ..

Change to any SD/Dimarzio and u'll get a clearer sound , with the EQs stated about the pups ..

But all these mods are very small lah.... It's like.. You know, it's like cars.

If you start modding on a kancil, all the small parts you add u'll still be slowwww... But if you start with a bigger engine .. Ahh, better power.

Like guitar, if your playing is shit.. You get all the best stuff you'll still be shit. But if your playing is good! Then... Ahhh.. Just like a bigger engine, when you modifiy you'll get better more noticable results ..

Then if your playing is good, next is the guitarrr body.. Then pups, then amps, whateverrr bla bla bla zzz gtg out now bye.

changing pickups on a gsa60... so the price of the pickups are going to be more expensive than the guitar itself ? smile.gif
i'm afraid the guitar wood/quality will not compliment the new pickups.
and as said earlier, a good amp with good speakers can do wonder (ok, not tube amp, but the 30W vox valvetronic sounds good already)

If price is an issue look for second hands pickups from gapnap and tonezone, good selection of pickups available there with reasonable prices too. It will bring improvements to your sound.

...but all I want now is a place for my amp! biggrin.gif
