I think that there are many students in LYN are driving their own car (not their parent's car). Maybe we can share our precious experience in buying and maintaining the car.

How do you guys get ur car?
>Old car from parents, brothers or sisters.
>Got funding from them, for sure that the loan or scholarship are not enough.
>Own effort, doing part time job and then collect money for car rclxms.gif

I start with my story, I'm IIUM student, architecture course (5th year programme). I'm driving a Satria Neo 1.6 and also Honda C70 (no road tax, just using it in campus). In my campus, there are so many students driving, some of them even drive super car (especially rich based family)

I collect my own money for downpayment and other fees by doing part time job, (architecture drawing, rendering, animation). Then I apply loan and surely I have my dad as guarantor...till now, my dad only pays for monthly installment and I'll start pay it after my graduation. All maintenance and services are done by me, no funding from him as I request. Thus, I have to plan my expenditure for my car, my bike, my meal, my architecture drawings tools...

Hope we can share good info and also know each other... biggrin.gif

Uncle moon...that bike got his own no...I just paste like my car no. That bike never comes out from the campus...just around the campus only. Go to class only

Very near to ur place la...UIA Gombak only. I stay in campus, so no need wearing helmet. Easy to park and save gas a lot as my campus is one wat street. have to go round

i`m a student also.. IMI Selayang..diploma only..

i got my Wira after my brother get bored and bought himself a Civic, then I continue paying monthly for 14 months.

after finished the installment I invest some more, include MIVEC engine and bla bla bla

last year study..looking 4ward to work and getting married!

p/s : i work part time since form 4, good job and good payment...

There are many examples. Some of sudents got the car from their parents after their parents bought a new car, still maintenance, fuel and services are paid by the driver. If got accident, even worse.

Yup...like me...the car is registered under my name..I pay the whole downpayment and fees where I collect the money by doing some part time jobs...but my dad pay installment for about one year...

i got my P license when 16 (bike license) then 17 got car license. damn those year.. rempeting to school, good not to be dead early...

yeah..

one of the main problem for me now if want to mod kaw kaw is my dad.. huhu.. he say the standard MIVEC fast enuff... no need to mod.. the last time I ask permission want to convert to 1.8 coz my fren selling cheap (rm300 for gsr complete block) I ask my dad the geran so i can endorse he say cannot...

My first car was Proton Iswara Aeroback was giving by my mom after she bought new ride. After 1 years later, I bought a new LMST by myself including every single thing inside my ride.. I'm just a student from KL TARC...

Currently ktar diploma student , juz bought myself a used honda city 03 recently , brw my aunt name as my guarantor . Honda City is my dream since the first day i get my job , work as a partime insurance agent , rily pay a branch of effort to get tis city ... Finally , but fail quite a lot subject too , maybe too concentrate on the job ... Hapy with my new ride ^^" thumbup.gif

Yeah...sometime, we have to really plan our time if doing part time job during study...like me...i can't really enjoy like others as my weekend is my 'working day'...plus assignment somemore

erm..i m student frm inti...i juz drive proton wira...all the modify of the car is my own hard earn money...hehe...in my campus,got mrs,rx8,new civic,estima,harrier 3.0,bmw 3 series,bmw 5 series,evo,celica,subaru...they all from very very rich family...juz a collegue can drive so so expensive car to campus...

yeah there is one "anak datuk" in my college...my junior.. 1st day he drive his mom Merc...old one.. still want to show off to everyone... then he drive his Proton "Lancer GSR Power!" Wira....he claim he already transplant GSR engine but..er..no rear disk brake..twin tip muffler making stupid noise,and no evidence that intercooler exist. whats the most surprising is a lot of student believe him..not only junior but also senior like some of my fren laugh.gif one day I drive my car there he ask me "enjen stended ke?" I answer "yep" then balik time.. he rev his car loud... then I "replied" the challenge with MIVEC big roar...suddenly his car quiet...and never do anything like that again..

now driving brand new SAGA.... maybe "datuk" father lost the election and got no more money kot... so after driving a "lancer" he now drive a humble Saga... good boy...

even the sunway boss drove his Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 into the campus.

It's kinda common... but i dun mind haha. taking public transport can reduce the amount of pollutants besides road congestions biggrin.gif

er... i fork out 10k den my dad pay the rest for a saga LMST during the 27k promotion(lump sum.. not installment) den petrol pay myself.. roadtax my dad cuz he got agent handle.. den maintainance(service) sumtimes dad sponsor den upgrades n mods all sendiri.. its considered own car or still supported by parents leh?

my car petrol everymonth oso arnd 300 d.. aih.. sumtimes feel like if got moto better... but most of d times happy cuz got car~~ haha

btw, i'm in architecture line too but not pure architecture, juz interior architecture... currently taking the course in Lim Kok Wing and i'm in my 2nd year degree now (took 1 year of foundation b4 that)...

heys, can anyone share how u guys manage to do part time job and at the same time concentrate on studies..?..what kind of part time jobs did u guys do..?..i am a poor students driving old saga...money always not enuff for me..sometime maintenance have to delay and when the following month service the part, other parts giving problem again.. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

study..usually on weekdays....so work on weekend...i do that to balance my studies and work..... sweat.gif..on my car..i dont do any major mod...everything stardard..except a few parts....but service regularly..so..the car dont giv me much prob..

few weeks ago when my exhaust was screwed up (muffler tip gone. yup gone!) my car was loud and lotsa boy racers actually come and tiong me jst for fun.
car no power, jst move aside and let them do whtever they 1..lol

coz my skill not that good -.-

as a student
i used to drive isuzu pick up ivander
the 1st week i crashed my home big gate

then i change to mazda
within 1 week
a sch bus suddenly came out from small road n stil raining that moment
my experience was like watching rally show
see the bonnet suddenly raise up in front of my eyes

not long ago when i play wif a integra type R wif my mazda in front of traffic lights
i knocked the integra coz suddenly he brake deadly as there was car in front of that guy suddenly turn into corner

til now i driving satria neo
maybe this car's power suits me more -.-

I collect my own money for downpayment and other fees by doing part time job, (architecture drawing, rendering, animation). All maintenance and services are done by me, no funding from him as I request. Thus, I have to plan my expenditure for my car, my bike, my meal, my architecture drawings tools...

My college got alot ler.. Girl driving expensive ride.. even I baru drove LMST. So sad... Last time I even saw a young girl driving black celica at the college I am studying.. So jealous...

i was using isuzu pick up for training
coz pick up has great torgue
manual n car long enuf til i can't get through cornering n crashed my home gate control unit

after half yr i change to mazda efini
then i crash it til like watching Rally clips

til now i driving neo for working purpose
tho my mazda had repaired 1 yr + ago
the spare parts r so rare that my dad rather get a neo

if i hav better skill n better attention i would hav driving fast & Furious supra adi
but my bro see i bad skill always mistaken when driving
then sell this monster to his friend in quite a low price

my cars n fuel sponsored by family
modification? my pocket lo
only like tinted my glass this time on neo hav claim from them

My ride is a normal N/A engine Satria 1.6 Manual Transmission.

I'm a student at Teachers Institution in Penang (near eGate). Year 3.. still 3 years more to graduate (TESL course) but I don't think I really want to be a teacher. My aim is either I will go higher than just being a teacher (probably lecturer or get myself into administration or Jabatan Pendidikan) or just resign and continue what I am doing right now (which is an internet business).

My Satria I bought it using my own money.. plus repair and so on.. I think I have spent around RM16,000 to RM19,000 (can't really remember). I am doing some internet business.. and manage to secure this car for me after two month starting it (hey.. internet can really make us money laugh.gif )

It's a great car.. I really love it. At first planning to put in a GSR engine into my car. But now can't make up my mind anymore. Probably because I've seen how troublesome it is to maintain non N/A cars. Ofcourse.. my aim is to have a better sporty car (like Fairlady Z or RX-8) since I believe I really can get it (if my internet business going smoothly like now for the next few month.. or years laugh.gif ).

For now.. will play with my Satria with utmost care tongue.gif

i normally drive manual.. if drive auto maybe i'll off air-cond to increase performance and makes less sleepy.. haha. driving in Kl i prefer auto la.. since always traffic jam.. if long journey then manual is better..

I think you have to go to Jabatan Pendaftaran to do that. biggrin.gif Why you want to do that ? Not all police have the reading devices and they will summon you once day. So, i prefer to have two cards. (IC and licence)

lucky i goody boy and also coz my course very stress... no time to go out, thats why petrol consumption doesnt often exceed RM150

But according to the real record, the Civic can only go around 213km/h..
The speedometer isn't accurate anymore after 210km/h..

Top speed only test on wide wide highway like sepang etc la. In a way its safer than normal cars with no modification taking hard corners, resulting many fatalities cases in msia.

Where does youngsters our age with normally drive to? Anyone knows of any romantic/special place with good scenery around KL besides shopping complexes? I can only think of lookout point, titiwangsa lake, genting and rendezvous steak garden.. Haha. ZzZz~

i usually drive to find good place to eat..makan makan sambil cuci mata..this is what i normally do, i would rate good food in a restaurant liek this.... for food 60%, hot chicks 30%, surrounding 10%... biggrin.gif

Lookout point lor.. Titiwangsa lake not syoik when at night. Dark until drop something also dunno.. Rendezvous steak garden at kampung pandan also good.. Me always go their. Haha..

Lookout point at hulu langat. need climb uphill.. For me, Lookout point more romantic.. hahaa.. Because can see most of the tower in KL.

sunny damn nice...and toyota LE too..this 2 old car really reliable..drove this 2 cars before and loves it...seems alot of my uni students driving sunny..hehe..we call "skyline"...lol
